iPods Tuesday?

i have decided i am going to build one of those charge your ipod with AA's. 8 AA's and a hacked up firewire cable.. i just wonder, what i will use for a case.

i don't have an ipod yet.

but i will as soon as there is a revision. and it makes me feel better in the meantime... =)
 
the Groove Jacket case looks nice, but I heard that it's a little thin for real protection, some have suggested the iSkin cases, which are thicker and more protective.
 
i havent seen the iskin in the flesh, but aside from the 'cooling holes' on the back and the loop in the side for a handle i think, they seem very similar.

I dont know if it woulp protect the ipod from a drop, but i got it mainly for scratch protection - at which it is great.

my only gripes (which i imagine are unavoidable), are that the texture occasionaly gives me a similar feeling to that which some people get if you drag your nails down a blackboard (Uuuurgghh). Also, that as the case is grippy, its quite hard to get in some pockets. Like trying to put a greased snake in a smarties tube (if you see what i mean).

ummm, forgot to write something ON-TOPIC, oops.
as i live in japan, cases are more limited than the american plethora abailable. though still plentiful, it's a pain in the ass to get to akihabara. does any have a link to the igroove? couldn't find it...

M&M Minis come in a tube...
 
but m&m's were never smarties and smarties were never m&m's. they are completely different and have different flavor. i most definetely prefer smarties. though peanut m&m's are good too.
 
smarties come in a tube in the uk.

the igroove as far as im aware is from japan, sorry no links just google for it - should be loads of stuff.

I have to agree with some of the others. It appears as if this thread "Jumped the Shark" about 20 or so posts ago (at least).

smarties in a tube. that is kinda cool. but i think i still would prefer a box. call me old school ;-)

it's this tuesday, i won't eat until ipod's are released. (no problem because it's this tuesday)
 
ipods and smarties

1. ipods: Well, I attempted to just buy a 20 gig ipod from best buy but they don't have them (but they do have a stellar 4 year warranty plan for $40 - for 4 years I can simply return a defective ipod and get a new one...or it sounds simple) and since I want more than apple's 1 year warranty, I guess I'll have to wait. Does anyone out there have experience with best buy in this regard that would persuade me to go back to my original plan of buying the ipod from compusa for their 2 year plan? I bet if apple did start offering applecare on the ipods it would be more $$$ and more tedious since they would keep trying to flog a dead horse before they gave you a new one (yes, i've heard the stories where people send in old ipods and got nice new ones in return but I'm just being pessimistic)

2. Smarties: Those aren't smarties! Okay, they are but they're not the chalky discs that come in plastic wrap that I know and love. Those are, by far, one of my most favorite halloween candies. Those UK smarties look like m&m minis and if they have chocolate, then I'd say they were m&m minis but with a different name. a wolf in sheep's clothing.
 
wishful thinking?... I ordered my ipod (10gb) thursday night I believe it was and it has yet to be shipped. Shouldnt they have these things in stock and sent the very next day since not nearly as many people are ordering them at this time before the update? this is making me think something will be updated tomorrow (thursday) and I'll end up getting my order changed to either being cheaper or just more gbs. Ya I know Im wishing a lot here but still always nice to dream...
