I agree it’s a great phone but the iPhone 11 is a great choice too. If I needed to upgrade now I’d probably get that. Still, the experience is much the same anyway.

Nah get the pro 😀 my main reason for the 11 pro was the size and best camera available, the extra $$ means nothing as it’s a tax deduction, I take before and after photos for my home improvement business, and my 21 year old son is getting married in January in NZ, family holiday a added bonus.

Mind you the XR was pretty good, heres one from a trip there in July.

I don’t need the extra camera if I’m honest. My iPhone 8+ currently takes care of my social media quality picture needs and I’m pretty sure the 11 would too. If I am going to a wedding or on a day out where I know i’ll take pictures, I take my Canon 5D MK4. I enjoy photography, nice pic btw.

yeah I am glad when my kids were young there was no iPhones, I had good cameras, I have a Nikon D3300 doesn’t get used much now, mainly when need zoom. There will be a pro photographer at the wedding anyway.

To Simplify things, OLED is not a selling point for consumers, they don’t care what OLED is and they probably don’t even know the difference between LCD/OLED is. The main reason somebody would want the Pro, is simply for the triple lens camera.

Consumers want value, considering Apple reduce the price by $50, that’s also another attractive point For the 11.

For me OLED is the selling point. IPad needs to smell the coffee on the Micro LED.

I moved from iPhone 7 to iPhone 11 and am very happy with it. Fantastic up-to-date tech (dual SIM, great battery life, second generation FaceID, night mode for cameras, etc.). Would have preferred a slightly smaller overall size/weight, so will check out the rumoured iPhone 5,4” OLED iPhone next year. Getting the 11 Pro this year was not worth for me, considering my usage and the rumours of a substantial redesign in 2020.

Maybe it's my eyes, but I'm not seeing a difference between the LCD screen of the 11 and the OLED screen of the 11 Pro. The Pro maybe looks a little warmer, but that's all I notice. What is the benefit? From what I read, it was supposed to be contrast and some power savings, but the 11 seems to have slightly better battery life than the 11 Pro anyway.

Good choice. After having a XR for 8 months only as i got of for a bargain, i wouldn't buy a 11, i bought a 11 pro. My wife still has one so i can compare.
11 pro is every bit worth the extra $$.

If you havn't use both for a fair bit of time you are only thinking of the $$ if you voted 11.
Can you please compare the battery life between 11, 11 pro and xr? I am really not satisfied with the battery life of xr.

The OLED of 11 Pro over 11’s LCD display is enough for me. I’d take a smaller OLED screen than the larger LCD screen and will pay you more for it.

I one up that and got an 11 Pro Max and have the best of screens and larger size and was willing to pay $400 more for it.

I got a Pro Max and it’s worth it for me because I massively use it as an entertainment device and in place of the likes of a tablet. I’ll often be streaming a movie or tv show whilst gaming on my tv for example.

It all depends on what you need and how you plan to use it. You’ve just got to ask yourself how much you value the extras.

Honestly couldn’t care less about the camera, I was fine with the one on the 4S.

All about the screen for me.

So you use a case with a stand or folio for that?

I went with the 11 pro because the 11 felt too big in my hand. The 11 pro is about the largest sized phone I'd want to have. Having gotten it however, I do appreciate the zoom lens.

I also sold my X for $500 so it really only cost $500.

Probably can sell the 11 pro for $600 bucks in 2 years.

Honestly I think the 11 is fine. The bezels are not really an issue as most likely you are going to use a case anyway. The screen on the 11 is perfectly fine. It’s only in dark areas that OLED is better. And I’m a XS max owner. I would be fine with the 11 but I’m spoiled by the 6.5 inch screen. I can’t go smaller.

Err what ?OLED is punchier colors and is higher res. I mean that 720p+ screen isn’t bad but it’s not in a vacuum

I know a few people at work who upgraded to the iPhone 11 from the X. I’ve never seen a massive difference and I’m not seeing complaints from the people who have gone from OLED to LCD. Maybe the screen on the 11 is good enough?

Everyone is going to have a different opinion. However for me the bigger screen is worth the admission price alone. Then there is the OLED display. The higher resolution and the telephoto lens. The more premium build quality is also nice.

It’s not though. Slightly over 720P resolution and you lose screen brightness at 800 nits typical and a peek of 1,200. You also lose in contrast ratio as well.

Do you think people are analysing it to the level you appear to be though? In use it’s difficult to notice a huge difference and I haven’t heard complaints from people I know who have gone from OLED to LCD. I use an XR at work and I can’t tell the difference in screen quality to my 8+ which on paper is better. I think some get too caught up in the marketing hype sometimes and forget the screens on these phones are all excellent quality and perfectly good enough for smartphone needs.

They aren’t excellent... far from it. Doable at best. You’re paying $699 for a device that isn’t even 1080P? Sorry those bezels are huge and that LCD panel isn’t worth $699.

Myself and many millions of other consumers aren’t seeing the issue. It’s the best selling iPhone currently much like the XR previously so I think you’re being overly dramatic. My personal experience confirms for me that the screen quality is very good and I’d be happy to upgrade to an iPhone 11.

The screen is sub par PEORID. It’s 2020 now basically and for a premium device it’s sub 1080p. Budget phones have 1080p these days. It’s selling because of its price not its screen.

I bought the 11 pro BECAUSE it’s better screen. Otherwise the 11 was a consideration.

Not everybody is buying based on the screen as is being pointed out to you repeatedly. The screen is plenty good enough and the fact people are buying it in the numbers they are and with some previously using OLED is testament to that.

It’s not when people priority is cost not features. It’s not mutually exclusive. I considered the 11 but would of been unhappy with the screen. $150 off the price of the 11 pro was worth it. $29.99 for the 11 or $35 for the pro in installments $5 more a month is way worth it for the superior screen.

To prove me point further using an example. The Nintendo 3DS family outsold and the PlayStation Vita which hardware wise was lackluster compared to the vita. Horrible screen, gimmicks a-lore but the 3DS sold a ton of devices with a horrible screen. It’s features , software is what sold it. Same with the 11 .... it’s simply the cheapest of the new phones to get into the Apple ecosystem
