I went with the pro. not sure it was worth it. I came from the 8 plus and liked the screen size being the same with a much smaller form factor. comparing the LCD on my 8 to the 11 OLED it is sharper but not sure I would have noticed if it weren't side by side. The colors on the 11 seem more muted, natural, and less saturated. I preferred the 8 but maybe that's just because I was used to it.

I'm annoyed they removed the telephoto and added wide. that's the main reason I went pro...I had telephotos, wanted wide, and wanted to maintain telephoto

Exactly. I know numerous people who have gone from the iPhone X to the iPhone 11 at upgrade and not had any complaints. Not everybody buys a phone based on its screen quality.

Maybe not but if people can't see the difference they are either lying, need glasses or are blinded by the cheaper price.
end/argument

The lower tier iPhone's are NEVER a consideration for me, as it would drive me crazy that I don't have the very best available (from that year).

For my family they could care less. There's no right, no wrong. But to answer the original question, IMHO, absolutely the Pro Model is worth the extra money.

Theses threads are comical. All it takes is one blowhard pent up on being ‘right’ vs even entertaining the fact others may have valid points and it becomes a one sided pissing contest. I work at the corporate head quarters of fortune 50 corporation amongst people who make more money than god, who honestly couldn’t care less that the screen on their 11 is sub 1080p or not up-to-par according to some unknown on a phone forum. Money is the furthest of their concerns. They bought what they wanted. They enjoy their ‘junk screen’ iPhone 11’s. Newsflash kids, there’s a world outside of Macrumors and some of you who think you have the world solved, might not know as much as you think. But hey, we all know some need to defend that purchase for a peaceful sleep. Amusing. PS- Pro Max user here so no need to waste that angle.

Arizz is right. In the Apple Watch forum, someone else made a comment that they work with corporate executives who wear the sport Apple Watch (Entry level) with $10,000 suits. Point is, no one needs to have the latest iPhone with an OLED display to enjoy an Apple product for what it is.

Absolutely spot on lol. I continually make the point here that iPhone model doesn’t equate to affordability for many. The CEO of my company has a personal worth of around €100M and uses an iPhone X still. Some people buy what they think is right for them regardless of features or price. I happen to like the iPhone 11. Could I afford the Pro version? Sure I could, but I personally don’t see the need when the 11 has the bits that interest me for less money. Welcome to 2019 Mac Rumours lol.

So I have 11 PM and 11, I think the 11 P/PM is worth it because:
1. Color on OLED is even, especially the black background is purely black. Even tho screen of 11 still is not bad. OLED of 11 P/PM definitely is WAY better than LCD of 11.
2. Telescope lens is very helpful at some scene.
3. Stainless steel frame on 11 P/PM feels more luxury than 11.
4. Bezel on 11P/PM is slimmer than 11.

They probably wouldn't even know what screen each iPhone has, someone else probably buys them for them. Anyway it's all about the best camera and size for me, i had a Xr for 8 months till the 11 pro.
I would even prefer the exact same tech in a 8 size, and i don't mean a gimped SE2 some are hoping for.
I reckon they should of went with SE pro, 11 pro and 11 pro max, all exactly the same except for screen size.
The XR/11 is not worth the $$ imo, they want $1200AUD for a 64gb here lol.
Before anyone says why did you buy a XR then, i got it for $500 brand new off retail price, and sold a 8 i had.

I just looked at the exchange rate and $1200AUD is about £615 in my money. That’s £75 cheaper than the 64GB iPhone 11 sells for here. That’s surely a good price for your country where you mostly pay much more for most things?

Lol, no wonder you guys like the 11, and I thought we were getting ripped, my 11 pro 256 is $20 a week plus the $40 plan a month.
Phone is $1999AUD.
We don’t have lock in contracts anymore, you pick your plan and they divide the phone cost by 24 or 36 months. If you cancel you pay out what is oweing on the phone only.
For $40 you get unlimited calls/texts, and 7gb data which gets shared on the account our other phones/iPad.
I can claim our 10% gst back all tax deductible which helps.

Looking at your costs it’s about £61.75p/m in our money which is not far off the price we pay. We can get an iPhone 11 Pro for £30.99 ($60.24AUD) from Apple and a sim only contract on par with yours can be sort for around £10p/m. The equivalent to your deal here is around $79.65p/m. Looking at it you pay £28 more for the phone.

The price of contracts have come down here in the last 12 months as carriers and retailers have had to adapt to slower sales. I can get an iPhone 11 for £36p/m right now and that’s the reason the 11 appeals along with the fact it’s a pretty decent phone in its own right.

I currently pay £31p/m for my iPhone 8+ with 10GB of data and unlimited calls/texts.

There is cheaper sims to be had here but they are pre paid and not as good coverage especially in rural areas, I have a business account too with phones/iPads and a free call no. You can get 2 years interest free from apple or even 5 years from another retailer, so there is cheaper options.

I sold my XR for $900 which eases the pain.

I forgot to say the Pro price here that I have includes a trade in.

I used to love the latest and greatest iPhone and I joined here during that period. In the years since I’ve become less excited by phones and my last 2 upgrades have been previous years models as I’ve become a bit disillusioned by Apple charging MacBook prices for iPhones. I’m not bothered if my phone has an OLED or an LCD if I’m honest as I don’t really watch videos on it apart from ones that pop up on Facebook etc.

Very few people I know go for the flagship iPhones and maybe that’s because the XR/11 is pushed more in terms of marketing here? Often people buy after seeing what others are using too in my experience. I don’t know many people who actively look at specs when upgrading their phones either. Price and brand are often strong enough.

From a user interface point of view the 11Pro is a step back from the standard 11 as the 11 & 11Pro Max are classed as plus sized devices and therefore have more features on the user interface.

For instance certain apps won’t rotate to landscape on the 11Pro where they would on the 11 & Pro Max. Some apps also make better use of the screen on the 11 too, Twitch for example (a game streaming app) on my old X which the Xs & 11Pro is based on wouldn’t have enough room to have the keyboard/chat/and stream on the screen at once so when you go to type the stream video would disappear off the top of the screen, on the XR/11/Max devices it has room for all 3 elements on screen at once.

So when you take user interface in to consideration the only reason to go for the 11Pro would be for the size if you have smaller hands, otherwise the comparison is 11 vs Pro Max which is a $400 difference.

To be honest the 11 is a brilliant phone and IMO the Pro Max isn’t worth the extra $400 UNLESS:

. You desperately need that extra couple of hours battery life over the 11

. You take a lot of zoomed photos in good lighting conditions, in low light situations the telephoto doesn’t get used its the main sensor cropped in (or it was on the old X/XS)

. You spend a lot of time commuting/away from home and your phone is your main device to watch movies etc on, then having HDR is a nice thing.

To be honest Apple woefully underuses the screen real estate on the 5.8” devices they made a big song and dance when the X was released about the screen being bigger than the old plus sized devices but then didn’t use the screen to its full potential, the apps treat it as a slightly larger 4.7” screen and not the massive 5.8” it truly is.
I wish Apple would give you the option of a smaller interface but then give you the plus sized features. So the 5.8” models you get zoomed out and standard screen modes, and on the 6.1/6.5” models you get standard or zoomed in.

Also to the guy going on about the OLED and ripping into the LCD some of us can’t use OLED displays because of the way they dim using PWM.

My X used to give me migraines and throbbing eyeballs, the minute I traded in for an XR the pain went away.

Even the first night of Apple Watch usage I had the same sensation (albeit not as bad) so for me an LCD iPhone is a must and with the 11 I don’t feel like I have an inferior phone or that I’m missing out on something the Pro Max has. This phone is a great compromise and the screen is actually rather nice to look at. Ok when watching movies I notice the black isn’t as black as the X before it, but the lack of migraines makes up for the fact that my movies might not look quite as good than if I had the Pro Max.

I can get away with an Apple Watch due to how little you actually use the screen compared to a phone, apart from the first night initial setting up of the thing I’ve not had the pain again.

You finally converted her away from android!

What’s the trick I’ve been trying to get my husband on the iPhone for years.
Ha just kept trying to tell her the short comings and it lasting with updates and smoothness long term. That said she only did it as I kept going on about iMessage and how the blue texts do matter haha...

it was a hard battle but she gave in...she only did it due to the good price of the 11 if it was pros price she would have stayed with the S10

So last year was the first year I took a 'step back' and got the XR. I'm very happy with the phone. It is an iPhone. It's still super fast. I sort of miss OLED, but those savings were used to buy an Airpod Pro. The only reason to upgrade to the latest is the fact that you need the biggest size or you always want the latest camera. Weirdly enough, though, people seemed to be fine without these for years until Apple started doing it.

I went with iPhone 11 128 gb in yellow (from iPhone X 64 gb) I think the savings is worth it for me. sold my iPhone X for $430 then bought my iPhone 11.

Larger storage, larger screen size, improved processor and camera. tbh, I can’t even tell oled vs retina. the camera is more than adequate for me and it’s great.

at this point in my life, I don’t wanna the best from Apple. I’m glad there’s a budget option like iPhone 11. And technology is so close at this point in time.

my iPhone 11 is great I love it, and I love the price savings even more.

??? The screen on the Pro is smaller than the 11. That's one of the main counter arguments against the 11 Pro. Smaller screen and slightly weaker battery, but costs $300 more.

In terms of mAh, the battery for the 11 pro is 3046 mAh while the 11 is 3110. Even with the smaller difference in battery life, Apple rates 11 pro to last about an hour longer for both video and stream than the 11. Audio is the same for both. That’s not worth $300 more alone or probably noticeable in day to day usage, but I just wanted to point out the specs. This is not 2018 when the Xr bested the Xs models in terms of battery life. The opposite is true this year as Apple continues to differentiate the OLED from the LCD models by equipping the OLED models with “better” specs in just about every measurable category, not including screen size when comparing 11 vs 11 pro.

I don’t think the pro is worth the extra money vs what you get with the 11

with That being said, I bought the pro max as I wanted a bigger screen and more battery

I chose the 11 Pro because I wanted a smaller phone, and I valued a thinner device with higher screen resolution. If the iPhone 11 were the same size and thickness of the Pro, I would have likely opted for the non pro model.

i was in the same decision between the Xs and the Xr.. i runt with the XS because of the great display... and the stainless steel frame... because the frame feels aweseome.
