Yes. Got kids. They know not to touch my stuff. And your screen is still vulnerable with a case.

Again. Cases have nothing to do with the screen. False sense of security.

........ lol i said his was a special 'case' i never talked about iPhone cases.

hahah its all good though

but while we're on the subject of cases. i beg to differ, my 3GS, 4S, 5S have all been saved because of my case

you have to get the right one, i always get cases that have bulge out on the front so if you drop it face down on flat surface. the screen never hits the floor.

I'm using the clear Spigen Airskin Ultra Slim. At 0.4, it basically looks and feels naked. Yesterday I was going to have a screen protector put on at the kiosk at the local mall, but with the new design of the iPhone and it's curved glass, I thought it looked really ugly. The gap between where the protector stops is pretty obvious since there's no real edge to the front. No thanks. I'm not going to stare at that every time I look at the phone.

Do you mind sharing some clear pics of the case on your iPhone? Would love to see how it looks as I'm looking for a clear, minimalistic case.

Thanks ;)

I have the olive brown apple leather case on my 6 plus. I honestly feel like the 6 plus and the apple leather case is the best combination/feel in my opinion.

Do you think a phone without a case would have a better chance of surviving a drop versus a phone with a case? I'd like to think the phone with a case would have a better chance of the screen not breaking.

Not true.

Luck. Not the case saved it. If it lands on its screen, the screen will likely crack. If it lands on the side or back, the screen may not crack --- the case only protects the back and sides from dings and scratches. There is little to no protection of the screen itself from a case. Again, cases are a scam that the general public has bought into as a "necessity" when it is not needed.

Agreed. The case-free types that 'abuse' applecare will selfishly cause the replacement cost to go up for everyone, even the good customers who use it as intended.

how when its factored into the price we pay?

and if the others users don't use/claim it guess what... it balances out.

Poor logic on your part

Not true.
How is it not true? Both times my iPhones have been dropped in the past, they had cases, but not screen protectors on them. And they were free from damage despite landing on the display. The case doesn't protect the screen directly, but the frame creates a buffer that absorbs the shock.

Anecdotal, not scientific. If your screen is not covered it is not protected. You got lucky. The case may have had nothing to with it.

I gave you two anecdotes, and then scientific reasoning. The plastic and rubber used in most cases is softer than the glass and metal found in iPhones, which gives them shock-absorbing capabilities.

Edit: You also claim the other person's iPhone survived due to luck. Luck runs out at some point. You can't attribute everything to luck.

I haven't had one on and I would never put one of those pointless things on my iPhone. They don't really protect the phone and they look and feel awful.

When my daughter's sister was little, I bought this case from Griffin for $20. Excellent price and not once did anything happen with my iPhone 4 or 4s. I eventually put an iPod Touch in it for her.

If it makes you feel more secure go for it. The case manufacturers love the fear. The 6 plus is big enough. I don't need more weight or bulk. And my five survived 2years without a case.

Honestly, I do think there's a lot of unwarranted fear about using your phone "naked" (even the word implies that you're not using something that you're supposed to use). People will tell stories about when they dropped their phone in a case and it was fine, but of course they have nothing to compare it to. It might have been okay even without a case.

I do think you probably have a better chance to avoid cosmetic issues like scratches from a drop if you use just about any case, but it's a trade-off if you prefer the slimmer, lighter feel of one without a case. And as I believe I mentioned above, I've used 6 iPhones over 7 years and never had any problems not using a case.

I didn't even get my 6 Plus yet, but have already received a case for it. I always protect my iPhones with a thin profile case and a Glass screen shield.

Right. It should be called cocooned or normal. People just THINK they need a case cause they see so many other people doing it. Case makers are laughing at the sheep.

I never use any cases on any of my iPhone's. Have the 6 Plus with a screen protector and a protective film I put at the back. No case though. Hate the bulk and hiding the beauty of the design.

No, but buying insurance (i.e. applecare) knowing in advance you are going to smash the phone and get a replacement because your case free phone has some scratches is.

Wow - ridiculous statement. Nobody is doing that and this guy never said he was doing that. However, if he drops his phone and the glass smashes, he can use AppleCare+ to get it replaced.

Nobody is using AppleCare+ for some scratches on the back side of a phone.

Nobody is doing that

Then you obviously haven't been in the "are you going to use a case?" or "should I buy applecare?" type threads. Go read up as people say they will do that all the time.

and this guy never said he was doing that.

Did I ever single out the OP and say he was? Nope. Sure didn't.

However, if he drops his phone and the glass smashes, he can use AppleCare+ to get it replaced.

Sure, I have no issue with using insurance the way it was intended.

Nobody is using AppleCare+ for some scratches on the back side of a phone.

Again, as stated above, you obviously haven't been active on the forum enough (with your 0.37 posts per day) to know that people do indeed do this.
