Don't do it! Cases are a scam!

It is a scam, for those who think it protects the glass screen from shattering. And its not naked or case. It is encased or normal.

Why would you add weight and bulk to a device that Apple spent much effort to get as light and thin as possible?

I think the whole case thing came about only because of antenna gate when Apple gave out the free bumpers. Did most people really use cases on iphone 1s and 2s? Now people feel or think they MUST have a case -- cause they see other people doing it. I think people buy a case now and don't even think about it, and whether it is really necessary.

I had an OtterBox Commuter on my 3GS for most of the time. Cases aren't a scam. No one is forcing you to buy them. Some people want to protect their phones, and some just want a bit of personalization.

Are you a life on the edge risk taker? Do you like BASE jumping, juggling chain saws, and doing high speed endos on sports bikes? Are you ready for the ultimate challenge?

Try not breaking a iPhone 6+ within minutes of activation if you don't slide on a case.

I'm kidding but man I was swapping my phone between cases right as a call came in. I have had the phone out of a case for a grand total of 5 minutes since I got it.

Just holding it to my ear it shot out of my hand like a bar of soap, coated in banana peels, and canola oil. I luckily was able to do a slow motion dive and catch it before it met a early demise.

I ran my past 3 phones case free and they looked beat up after a year. Small price to pay for the enjoyment I got out of them. This 6+ though... It is a delicate, slippery, snowflake. I am going to buy the most obnoxious lifeproof, otter box case I can find for it. Then I'm going to buy a case to put that case in.

Anyway are their any free spirits out there that are throwing caution to the wind and running their phone case less?

I have my iPhone 6 Plus case less most of the time, but have an :apple: leather case for filming, yes I film with my iPhone, on windy days cause it just feels safer in my hands. Not afraid to drop my phone though. Dropped it once already, nothing happened, never dropped my 5s so I am not too worried about that happening again in the near future.

I never used cases across 4 iPhones. The 6 is inside the leather case because it actually feels more complete with it. As if the phone was meant to be leather exterior-ed.

Why does it bother you if people want to put a case on their phone? Why do you care?

Cause it's the topic of this thread and I'm participating in it. And most who get cases have no clue why, they simply think you are "supposed" to.

Although the 6 and 6 Plus are beautiful and it is a shame to cover them or make them bulkier, they are just too hard to hold onto without a case.

Just too easy to lose your grip.

Add me to that list then. Never dropped any phone iPhone or other.

cool, if it were that common cases wouldn't sell.

anyways i find it hard to not drop it at least once or twice a year when you drink.

unless you don't drink of course.

I understand what you're saying, but I think you can turn it around and ask why the original poster felt it was necessary to say it was crazy not to use a case. A lot of people seem to be pretty dismissive of the idea of not using a case, so I think he's just reacting to that.

I think it's just different from what you are used to. After a day or two it is like holding any other metal object. The next phone will then feel "slippery".

I have no problem holding a 6 plus. I think the fear is in people's heads.

It's a shame to have to cover the beauty up but too pricey not to. I received my Spigen back only cover case during the week and seriously considering a full cover from one of these high end premium leather suppliers;

Lucrin
Vajacases
Calypso crystal

For my soon to arrive 6+

I'll agree with you here. My sleeve got delivered last week. I'm still on Cloud 9.
(posted pics here: https://forums.macrumors.com/threads/1783652/ )

My previous phone was an Acer liquid z3 and I was not using any case. It ended up getting a pretty bad case of chipped edges. I would not be able to live with myself if the same thing happened to the iPhone! The material on these 2 phones are fundamentally different, the acer is plastic; but I cannot risk it.

I really want too. I thought the back was hideous from the leaks so I ordered a case, but I actually love the design.

Never used a case before but my 5s took a beating so it was hard to get a buyer and I had to resort to trading in at GameStop.

So I'm still torn.

I used to go caseless starting with the 5, but over time I realised that it gets really uncomfortable holding bare aluminium for hours on end. When I got the rubbery PS Air Jacket for my 5s it made it an absolute pleasure to use. I thought the curved edges of the 6 would alleviate that and I could go caseless, but I still found that holding it for extended periods just feels... off. Aluminium is just too hard of a material to hold 3 or 4 hours. I just need a buffer between the device and my hand, and the official silicone case does that for me. It's not always about drop protection.

My naked 6+ has a couple hairline scratches on the screen, so whatever Apple means by ion-strengthened glass.... but that's ok, I'm still gonna go naked with it. The design of the phone is too nice to cover it up with a case.

I've had a lot of friends, family, co-workers check out my phone after I got it on release day and the first question they asked was why I didn't have a case on. I told them I bought AppleCare but they were still shocked.

Yea. This whole conspiracy that you MUST put a case on your phone is annoying. I fell for the hype when I got my first iPhone years ago(3GS). I quickly learned a few months in that cases are really only protecting the shell of the phone, but screens are still acceptable to cracking. Plus, I realized that a case was doing MORE damage to my phone from all the dust particles inside my case, scratching the shell (remember 3GS had that shiny black case. Easy to see every defect.) Every iPhone since that time I've gone naked and it poses no problem for me.

Never liked cases but I bought the leather one because it looks really really good and feels even better.

However, I also bought a back protector to add grip, and I think I will be using this very soon instead of the case. I intend to discard the front protectors as Gorilla Glass doesn't scratch that easily.

My only problem running it naked is that it's slippery in the back, so adding this film should help.

What I don't like is the oleophobic coating on the screen gets scratched and that's where a lot of those hairline scratches come from. I finally broke down and got a Zagg Glass screen protector because it doesn't smudge as much as the bare screen and feels just as good.

I really switch between caseless, Tech21, and the Apple leather case. I think for one handed use the Apple leather does it for me. Sometimes I feel that the iPhone 6 was made to be used with the Apple leather/silicone cases.

I am very interested in getting a grippy substance for the back of the phone though so it's not as slick and really shows off the beauty of the iPhone 6 in all its glory.

i have ran all my previous phones in the past naked, but with my 6 plus i just ordered a spigen slim armor case becuase i drop phones every once in a while and i dont want anything to happen to it lol.

I prefer a bumper but they are a bit thick for the 6+ so I ordered a few slim cases for now.

Yes a good case really does protect the screen if it provides shock protection and has a lip to hold the screen away from a flat surface. I need that protection because I'm not perfect. I dropped my 4S once and without a bumper it would have cracked.

Yeah that's why I got a back protector, the iPhone is just too slick and beautiful that a case kinda ruins that nice feel when you hold it naked. I'm still on leather because it feels nice to hold, but I might put the back protector for grip and lose the case.

I have but since the 6 is slim and I am paying for it in full, I will protect my investment with an Urban Armor Gear case, they are cool and inexpensive, plus I know many folks who have them, and they feel nice around the 6
