Seriously how hard is it to make the phone as thick as the camera, and fill the empty space with more battery.
its not hard, its just smarter to be this way..nobody wants an iphone pro max with 11mm (almost like iphone 3G\3GS) in thickness and over 300 grams(the smaller pro is over 200grams for the first time ), no wonder all the others are doing the same thing...jesus

if those rumours will become true, i bet you will complain about how thick and heavy the pro models will be, and will be not just you...but the whole world...for the camera to be flush in todays camera lenses and all the tech, think about an iphone 14 pro max around 11mm in thickness and an smartphone with around 300 grams..God i hope not, today is the best way for compromises...no wonder everybody is doing the same thing

I suggest you quote me in case that ever happens rather than make wild assumptions.

it is a little annoying to use while the phone is lying on the table, otherwise I don’t mind it.

As a heavy user, I’d take the extra thickness & weight for a bigger battery. It’s all very personal of course.

I just upgraded from an iPhone XS to 13 Pro and didn’t realize how big of a camera bump this is until using it for a day. With my XS in a case, the camera bump was entirely gone and the phone lays completely flat on the table or on any number of my wireless chargers. Now with my 13 Pro in a case, the camera lip is massive and it doesn’t lay flat on any of my wireless chargers. I have to make sure it’s positioned correctly so it’s still charging. I’m contemplating going back to my XS and waiting for the 14 since one of the rumors is that the camera bump will be gone. Am I crazy?
I was immediately distracted by the real estimate, configuration, and weight of the 13 Pro cameras. I am having to temporarily use an Apple silicone case to get through a trip to Rome next week, but I am hoping my Vaja case will manage this like they did with the 12 Pro. When doing official office work, I kept the iP in the inside left pocket of my blazer or suit so I am left to wonder how this will play out in real life.

i just made what you did - wild assumptions. Stay on topic next time
End of off topic

Yes, it’s looks absolutely hideous on the Pro and is a total dealbreaker as far as I am concerned with the Pro models. It seems to get a little worse every year too

yes, maybe for people that stays in doors a lot, i understand completely. Its already a little uncomfortable how the 13 pro max feels in my suit, or even in denim. The 13 pro max has an outstanding battery...i mean we can charge our devices everywhere , home, office, cars, even if we are heavy users etc

We already have a topic how heavy the pro series are...
So, apple should go back in time, and make the iphone 4 again, no camera bump, lighter phone...but but, people will start to complain about, camera is garbage, display is too small, battery life is worse than ever and so on...
This topics should not exists...people that are never happy
This topic can be closed since everybody can see how big is the camera bump...and who doesnt see it, then those people are blind, so they cant read this topic either

The bump is one reason I'm taking a pass on a 13 mini. I often use the phone while its laying on a surface. With the bump it flops all over the place. Other reason, no touch ID. I like it unlocked by the time its out of my pocket.

I’m talking from the point of view of someone who stays outdoors a lot - no charging points if I’m fishing on a river bank.

Lenses do all the of the physical work, they need room to function and room for the sensors behind. I am sure those who complain about the bump would be the first to complain about picture quality if smaller lenses were used. It would be like someone complaining about the size of the lenses on the front of a DSLR! The better the glass, the better the picture.

The apple leather case doesn't even protect the lenses of the camera. The bump cutout around the camera on the case is the same length. Also, for anyone who owns the 13 pro max with the leather case, the bottom front is less deep than the top front of the case. As for the bumper.

I put a case to protect my phone of course, but when I put my phone on the desk, it's not wobbly. So I'm not bothered too much.

But if there's a technological way to remove it while keeping the same thinness and great cameras, I'm all ears.
