The thing that bothers me is it now protrudes past the case. Hoping the cameras don’t get scratched from setting it down.
I bought the OtterBox defender and I haven’t had one in a while because they were too bulky. They have been redesigned and are much thinner therefore the camera bump shouldn’t peek out past the case. I don’t have my iPhone 13 Pro max yet, I’m on the delayed until Monday list. I really like the case now… I’m somewhat impressed

I think it's quite ugly. Wish there was a big screen iPhone with a lesser camera, don't care much about the camera quality but I want the big screen.

The non pro iPhone 14 Max next year is gonna sell like hotcakes for this exact reason

I am. Returning my 13 PM and perhaps I’ll consider sticking to my 11 PM until the 14 Pro Max comes out later next year. The bump on the 13 PM makes the one on the 11 PM seems nothing. Unbelievable.

Apple has been pretending like this ugly bump doesn't bother people, even having some people convinced. But I'm sure they're waiting to trim it down and sell it as a massive design change when there's nothing else left to improve

Off track. They’re going to make the 14 thicker to eliminate bump.

I just upgraded from an iPhone XS to 13 Pro and didn’t realize how big of a camera bump this is until using it for a day. With my XS in a case, the camera bump was entirely gone and the phone lays completely flat on the table or on any number of my wireless chargers. Now with my 13 Pro in a case, the camera lip is massive and it doesn’t lay flat on any of my wireless chargers. I have to make sure it’s positioned correctly so it’s still charging. I’m contemplating going back to my XS and waiting for the 14 since one of the rumors is that the camera bump will be gone. Am I crazy?
Other than your dislike of the camera bump, how are you finding your experience with the new phone when compared to your iPhone XS?

I was taken back when I first saw my pro in person, doesn't really bother me now but it causing issues with my wireless charger(s) as well. The bump is causing the phone to rest just a little too far away, so a few mornings I had a dead battery. I've been using a samsung wireless charger since the X without issue. I also tried another samsung one I have and same deal even though it looked promising at first. I know I could get a flat charger and call it day but I dont prefer those.

Not bothered about the bump itelf but i have the silicone case which also has a bump so it wobbles when used flat on my desk. What cases are people using to flatten it out and stop the wobble?

I’d like to also ask in case of these cases, how well MagSafe works and how well the phones charge wirelessly.

Might be better to get a new charger rather than hope for a reduction in camera bump size in the future.

There is zero guarantee what the camera bump size is going to be a year from now, but since cameras all require lenses, and the physics around lenses haven't changed, well, ever, I really doubt there's going to be any kind of reduction in camera bump size for the foreseeable future. Waiting an entire year on that pretty thin hope feels futile to me.

For what it's worth, it wouldn't matter if the camera bump was an inch thick for the MagSafe wireless charger I use (the Belkin 3-in-1). There is zero collision between the lens system and the charger.

On a pro it’s a bit top-heavy. Not bothered, with the case is no problem
It’s not top-heavy at all. iPhones are always balanced. Place your finger on the Apple logo on the back, and you’ll be able to balance it on just one finger.

Every year for the last 10 years, iPhone lenses have for the most part gotten bigger and bigger and bigger. There’s zero reason to expect that the iPhone 14 pro models won’t have large lenses protruding out of the back too just like the 13. Camera improvement is the main selling point on every new iPhone model.
If the case was extended to reach out to the lip of the lenses, the phone would be massive- like a brick. So that’ll never happen either.
Like it or not — large extruding lenses bulging out of the back of a pro iPhone are here forever.
Apple should design the phone so that the lenses are more recessed in the case. Problem solved.

This may not be possible, unless they go periscope with all 3 lenses. That would take too much real estate inside, which might be better spent on battery size. This might happen someday, if/when the CPU efficiency is there, but that might be a tall ask. I can see them doing 1 periscope lens soon, but this may not be enough to reduce the bump for the other 2.

Not massively bothered, but when I put my 12P and 14P next to each other with camera facing up, my initial reaction was "oh s**t" as I really didn't realise the size difference would stand out so much

My biggest annoyance is the camera bump is now lower down to where I would usually hold the phone, so I'm having to adjust how I actually hold the phone, and thats just causing discomfort along with the extra weight
