Face id like most technology in the first stages looks to be slow, and I’m not a fan of ditching the home button. Also, releasing the X so late in the year could turn out to be a bad move. Most people won’t have them until 2018. This is the first keynote where I think I’m going to stay put for awhile with my 7 plus or at the least possibly get an 8 instead. Not to mention the hiking of prices. I make good money but goodness, it will cost my wife and I a fortune to upgrade.

I really see no reason to upgrade my 6S+ based on what I saw today. I'm probably going to see if factory resetting with iOS 11 helps my battery life at all. If not I'll pay the $90 for a new battery. Heck of a lot cheaper than a new phone when everything else works fine for my needs.

No, not underwhelming to me, but a few disappointments, like swipe down instead of up for control center, and regardless if it works I do not like FaceID.

But the watch seems amazing, I hope it has better speakers and mics, it sounds like it does but no mention.

I am. I don't know what to buy. Probably going to get a 7 plus on swappa and maybe a series 3 watch. The 8 and X do not interest me at all at their price points.

The X doesn't have enough compelling features for me, and replacing Touch ID with Face ID is actually a step back IMO. I think I'm going to go with the 8 Plus this year, and wait for the X2 or whatever the latest and greatest is next year.
I may do this as well.

Agreed - 8 plus here too even after trying my utmost to like the X. The cutout is too distracting. FaceID looks slow and clunky. X2 will have refined face id, and maybe software to allow black 'ears' to hide the notch as a setting.

I think the price could be worth it in a monthly plan vs the 8 Plus, but it does depend on budget.
As you say, everything seems early and it doesn’t look like a refined experienced yet. The 8 may be the best option given the new design coming to the other phones, or perhaps that could be in 2 generations.

If I'm underwhelmed its because I already knew so much of what they were going to say. Rumors, but when you get this close most of the rumors here are right on. I dont know what to think at the moment. I appreciate the new display on the X and the stabilization on the zoom lens but I am not sure I want face recognition. I was really hoping it would be in addition to Touch ID. There are just times when the phone is not handy to look at.

My Apple Watch, sometimes it would be nice to have the time on the display without having to turn my wrist. Similarly, there are times when I just want to unlock my phone without looking at it. I just have this feeling it will become something I dislike over time but I just can't say without trying it out. I am happy with my 7Plus and right this second feel my best choices are keep it (who would have thought) or go 8Plus but I have always been the type to just go for the new. I think what really got me is the rumor that we might see a version in the physical size to my plus with a bigger OLED. Now that I would be for.

I think there will be more people than ever that are underwhelmed. I certainly am.

I've got my matte black 128GB Verizon 7 Plus on Swappa right now if you're interested.

After seeing revamped iPhone 6 designs since 2015, I am very happy with the iPhone X release. I wasn't expecting much else, as we saw all of the leaks. The iPhone 8 will not be selling like hotcakes, but it is perfect for those not ready to leap into the high tech X. I just still do not understand why it's not called the iPhone 7S?

The m Keynote was slightly under whelming for me. But I also anticipated that because of all of the leaked information that's been divulged in the last two weeks. But ultimately, I thought it was interesting.

Usually people don't specify why they're dissatisfied with an iPhone. It's a general meaningless complaint.

Credit to the OP for specifying feature removal and price.

Mixed opinions really. The iPhone 8 looks like the better buy and the iPhone X didn't excite me enough to want to spend the extra £400. If you own an iPhone 7 I could see why this launch is pretty mediocre though.

I think there's a lot to be said for knowing about most of the features in advance. It spoils the actual presentation.

The 8 looks good. The X is strange.

Don't know

The more I think about it, I may just go with the 8 and wait until the next gen iPhone X is introduced.

I'm also due to upgrade my series 0 Apple Watch, so the 8 and series 3 may make more sense for me.

If I was just upgrading my phone, I'd probably go with the X.

I mean, a little? I guess the leaks ruined it a little and wanted more. i'm not wowed anymore by these keynotes anymore. i remember (pre-leaks) they were exciting times. i'm going with the X solely because i still have my iP6 which is struggling to the finish line. i want something different and new. not the same design since i got this one 3yrs ago. they're not selling me on their small tidbits trying to explain in big words on how revolutionary and amazing and the best iPhone ever. i wish the notch wasn't there and of course a little cheaper but i'm going to get it on the next plan.
