I was let down, not a fan of the swipe up for the home button now and seems to me that touch id is better than face id...side button for Siri seems wrong too. Just did not like what I saw...

Is anyone else completely underwhelmed after today?

I'm going for the 256GB 8 and intend to use it until falls apart. I can pay £850, but I'm wringing every last bit of value out of that.
The basic X should be 128GB, 64GB with that kind of phone is pointless. I'd find it unusable with the amount of photos and videos I take, and needing space for offline music considering how often I travel through tunnels and 3G/4G blackspot.

for about an hour now.
I'm Whelmed. Not over, under, just stuck at whelmed. People justify the X saying it's "just" $200 more. But $200 is $200. I don't see Apple reducing prices by $200 because it's such a small amount of $. Also it's about 60% more than what my iPhone 7 cost. I'll be reading the pro 1st impressions later today and tomorrow very carefully. But right now I can't convince my wallet to let the $1200 fly. It's a lot of $ for a phone no matter how you pretend it's not.
It's hard to be anything else, given we knew 99.9% of what was announced. Maybe a self-imposed boycott of Macrumors 6 months before the event would make it more enjoyable?
I feel a bit cheated since i bought the 7 last year, expecting the 7s to come out this year with the same design because i upgrade every time a new design comes out. after looking at the specs of the 8, i'm sticking with the 7. wireless charging is nice, but it's not that much more convenient than just plugging in my phone. it's a fad IMO. Not to mention the 8 also brought a price increase of $50 so they expect me to pay $150 extra for basically just wireless charging? nope, not worth it at all. The x, i really would like to have but i don't get the point of the curved screen corners. videos, photos, etc are rectangle, not rounded and this is either going to create black boxes like on old school TVs or it will cut off parts of what you can see in full on a rectangular display. The only thing i'm at all interested in is the OLED display, which is nothing new, androids have had these for years. heck even my dad's moto g 4 has one. Overall, very disappointed in both IOS 11 and the new iPhones. I'm also pretty sad black is gone again, so i'll stick with my matte black 7 for a while longer.
edit: furthermore, $1000 for a cell phone is ridiculous, i don't care how much money is in your wallet. That's ridiculous and i refuse to buy into apple's greed. $650 for a phone is even too much in my opinion especially when everyone has a smartphone these days. I paid less that $1000 for the gaming PC i'm typing this on. I'm in college and $1000 is just ridiculous. But i'm sure you guys will buy into the hype and let apple continue to charge outrageous prices like this.

as they were showing each one I was super excited and wanting each one... the watch.... the apple tv... the phone...
but now that I'm sitting back and looking at apple's page, reading the forum and looking at what they are really offering... ya.... totally underwhelmed.
I probably don't need a new watch... my two work fine. I may get a new apple TV just because hubby still had the old style in his workshop and I feel bad about that... I don't really watch 4K movies even though we have a 4K tv...
and the phone... I'm most surprised at my attitude about that... I was bummed about the long wait... and now I'm wondering what i'll do between now and oct 27..... might change my mind and keep my current phone.... I haven't felt that way in years!

Im sorry but thats completely crazy. (Yes I feel that AC+ is a needed). This was their worst launch of all time. The price is to high, the fact that there is no 128GB option forces buyers to pay that crazy price or cut their space in half with the 64GB, The price increase of AC+ really rubs me the wrong way and all for a bigger screen, no touch ID and a faceID that will be a huge constant pain.
I think it may be time to say goodbye to Apple.
P.S. Did I mention the huge bezels? The word "Innovation" has left Apple's vocabulary.

Does that include tax? and you dont "have" to get the 256GB. They will probably throw in free shipping.
Edit: Never mind when and looked its actually $1,449.10 w/ Apple Care+ and tax not too bad 60$ a month for 24 months, maybe they will go to 30 months?
I think people have to get used to the fact that the surge of huge revolution and big changes every year in the smartphone sector is over. Yeah bezelless design is cool and everything but it also comes with some disadvantages like not being able to rest your fingers at the bottom and losing the physical iconic home buttons on Samsung and Apple Phones.
To me the Iphone X looks like the S8 and Essential Phone are having a baby it's not a bad thing but it's been there seen that before. And the Pixel XL will look similar.
Personally the phone that has me most looking forward to is the Mate 10 Pro not because of the rumored bezelless design but because of the Kirin 970, the Kirin 960 leapfrogged the Snapdragon and the performancee on my Mate 9 is just great and Huawei is reducing their skin approach more and more so yeah.

I’m completely underwhelmed but not bc of the leaks, I’m just underwhelmed period. If anything ,the leaks braced me for it.
We knew 7s thats 8 would be glass back and wireless charging, we knew 8 thats really X would be OLED with a chin and no Touch ID from July HomePod firmware leak,
There wasn’t a lot of meat left on the bone— LTE watch expected,
The only thing that surprised me but that I don’t care about ,is wireless charging AirPods
I’m only upgrading to the 8 Plus because I’m on the upgrade program. If I had bought the 7 Plus outright I wouldn’t be upgrading. The whole top notch from the X could have and should have been added to the the 8/8 Plus. Honestly the X design shouldn’t have been released until the could get it available in both regular and plus sizes and at the standard price points. For what you get the X isn’t worth it. Hopefully next year will fix this.
with the bunny ear chin wraparound display? Not possible with LED, LED you get a rectangular display
With OLED, it can be shaped and shifted to however the manufacturer prefers it to be
I was jailbroken on 10.1.1 for a while, but it just didn't feel like a real jailbreak and i had more stability issues than it was worth so i restored to 10.3. I guess i meant i felt cheated until i realize not much changed besides wiress charging. Now i'm content with my 7. Hell i'd even be content with a 6s still
And you still gotta pay that +$50 premium from what the old 7 prices are, (or in the case of the plus, just a $20 premium from old 7 plus prices)

Apple would never put all those sensors in the chin in the 8 and 8 plus anyways really two fold:
One-added cost for asking price and
Two- Touch ID with Face ID? That would gimp the release of the X
What is EXTREMELY disappointing beyond anything else is that $1000 gets you 64GB of storage. I STRONGLY feel at this price point the base storage should be 128GB
