ya..... not sure what to think....

as they were showing each one I was super excited and wanting each one... the watch.... the apple tv... the phone...

but now that I'm sitting back and looking at apple's page, reading the forum and looking at what they are really offering... ya.... totally underwhelmed.

I probably don't need a new watch... my two work fine. I may get a new apple TV just because hubby still had the old style in his workshop and I feel bad about that... I don't really watch 4K movies even though we have a 4K tv...

and the phone... I'm most surprised at my attitude about that... I was bummed about the long wait... and now I'm wondering what i'll do between now and oct 27..... might change my mind and keep my current phone.... I haven't felt that way in years!

I feel 100% the same way. Getting caught in all the hype and hoopla with your friends coworkers "I'm gonna get that yea me too". Then it dies down and you start thinking sensibly again While I take a look at all the usual first take videos, blog posts , mr/ai write ups etc and it's cool and all but doesn't feel the same.

My og stainless steel watch and 6s are still kicking it , was only gonna upgrade for more storage and disappointed there's no 512 GB offering makes me think X2 will be the one to save your pennies for

I don't get excited about security features. When Face ID is the big feature, makes you wonder what Apple is thinking.

I get excited about features I use every day like text, email, phone, car, Siri, maps, photos, etc. and there was nothing in the hardware that improves any of these experiences except annoying emojis.

What a let down.

A bit underwhelmed.
My biggest issue was how Tim Cook was touting the iPhone X as the future of the smartphone.

A bit of hyperbole...perhaps the future of iPhone, yes, but not smartphones in general.

Nope, nobody else, just you! I'm completely OVERWHELMED by FaceID. This is basically a phone that is 5 years from the future, it has concepts and features that are just bonkers.

Are you being sarcastic? My friends' Android phones (HTC One X? and Samsung S8) both have it, as did my Galaxy Nexus back in 2012. I'm sure Apple has made improvements, but based on what we have seen so far, it isn't the great leap forward we need to make FaceID better than TouchID.

It's a slower, more deliberate, two-step process that will slow down your actions. Unlocking will be slower, Apple Pay will be slower, etc.

FaceID makes more sense for the MacBook Pro, not the iPhone.

You do realize that this has been available on Android for years... "Just not good enough until now for Apple"...

Where did I say Apple had this first? I hate Android and have no desire to ever use one. So I'm happy that the phone I like now has a better screen.

Yeah, and who's going to use a $1000 phone without a warranty and case?

Me. I never use a case or have purchased a warranty.

Two problems. One, too much hype raised expectations too high. Tim said the X is as much of a breakthrough as the original... sorry, that's just asinine. It came nowhere near that impact. And it would've been hard to pull that off - smartphones are a maturing product. It's really hard to pull off a revolution here. And for sure the X didn't make it revolutionary. So that's a FAIL. Not so much that the X is a fail, but that saying it will be all that, when it was not all that, is just a pure failure of PR.

Second. To me, the X really feels like a beta product. I would never buy it. The bezel is still too big, that wedge cutout is just sloppy, and it seems to lack fit and finish, as demonstrated by the face recognition failure on stage.

I have a 6S, and although I am very frustrated by how poor the battery life is, I don't see this iteration of X in my future. The battery life is not that impressive, despite what Phil claimed, and there really are not many features that I'm super excited about.

I will wait for the next edition of the X, or even the one after that. But what frustrates me is that by now Apple seems to be in a perpetual catchup mode to what's going on in the Android world. Sure, the iPhone is way more integrated and smoot and reliable, and that counts for A LOT for me - A HECK OF A LOT. But! But, the fact is, that folks like Samsung introduce advanced tech much more quickly. I was hoping that at some point Apple would not just catch up, but pull ahead in that regard. But now it seems the pattern is set - Apple is always 1-2 years behind, and I don't see that changing. If ever there was an incentive to pull out all the stops, it was with the 10-anniversary phone like the X. And instead, they're barely catching up, for sure not charging ahead.

So to sum up, relative to the hype, it didn't live up to the exaggerated claims and it's a beta product. I hope for better going forward, but I gotta admit, I'm losing hope. YMMV.

Face id like most technology in the first stages looks to be slow, and I’m not a fan of ditching the home button. Also, releasing the X so late in the year could turn out to be a bad move. Most people won’t have them until 2018. This is the first keynote where I think I’m going to stay put for awhile with my 7 plus or at the least possibly get an 8 instead. Not to mention the hiking of prices. I make good money but goodness, it will cost my wife and I a fortune to upgrade.

We Knew Everything Already. You are right No one will have Phones Until 2018 and it will be June 2018 before you can walk into a store and buy one. At that rate. Just rather wait for the much superior X Plus 6.4" version.

#1. Delay confirmed
#2. No Tocuh ID (next years will have it)
#3. No X Plus Model (it will be out next year 6.4" inches)
#4. Only surprise was that Apple used a 3rd party for their default wireless charging Qi (Chi) instead of their Own proprietary standard.

I'm waking up to more negativity on my social media than I expected. Most people I know are iPhone users but I'm seeing a lot of criticism for the X. Small storage option, lack of colour choice and a ridiculously high price.

I think we're going to see demand for the iPhone 7 and 8 increase.

I really see no reason to upgrade my 6S+ based on what I saw today. I'm probably going to see if factory resetting with iOS 11 helps my battery life at all. If not I'll pay the $90 for a new battery. Heck of a lot cheaper than a new phone when everything else works fine for my needs.

From 6s+ to 7+ is a good upgrade IMO. Iphone 7plus has some new features but the jet black color is awesome.

From everything I've heard, those work like crap and the technology in there is much less advanced than Apple's. I'm sure they don't use dot projectors and neural networks with superfast bionic chips. Remember, we had fingerprint readers decades before Touch ID, too.

With Apple - it has always been about design and implementation.

I have no doubt that Face ID will work really, really well, and that all those other systems can't compare.

Yeah I honestly keep entertaining the idea of the 8+ mainly for the camera. Fast charging would be nice. My husband loves it on his Nexus 5X.

Also much less important but still weighing on my decision: I would be able to preorder the sim free model! I've never had a launch day phone and want to be part of the excitement LOL

No, I hadn't, but that's exactly my (and others') concern about Face ID.

Whats your concern you have a twin brother? NSA spying on you? Cheating on your wife/girl friend? Can't find your aluminum foil?

Jet Black is awesome but it scratches just by looking at it. My next phone will be matte black.

Meh, I'm not excited about the iPhone X at all. I think I'll wait until it's tweaked and more refined, seems like a rushed protype. I still see the bezel, I don't care about FaceID. That bar/cut out at the top is pretty annoying. It's too expensive for what it is. For a 10th anniversary edition.... it's so underwhelming. Nah... I don't like it.

I have 6s Plus so I think I'm happy to buy the 8 Plus. I've been using the iPhone since the 3Gs in 2009... I'm contemplating Samsung now also.

Actually, all of the above... :D
Seriously, I know that biometrics are fallible, but I'd like perhaps to have BOTH Touch ID and Face ID available. Here's a well-written article that sums it all up:
