I switched from Android to iPhone with the 11 Pro Max because at that time, the video recording capabilities of the iPhone seems to be better than Android. And it is better with the only downside being the bitrate can't match mirrorless cameras.
I'm currently using iPhone 12 Pro Max. Fast forward to 2021, I managed to test the Samsung S21 and was surprised that it has really good video recording capabilities that definitely match the iPhone.
I look at technology based on whether it can help me save time or money, or improve productivity. And Android just has many pluses.
+ Fingerprint sensor
+ USB-C
+ Samsung Dex external monitor support
+ MicroSD card slot / more affordable storage upgrades
+ Stylus support (for Samsung phones)
+ Phone can be used as external storage for easy and fast file transfer
+ Can open most media
+ Familiar and easy to understand file management system
+ Huge variety of companies making Android phones. Pricing is competitive
I like iPhone though and has many pluses too
+ Airdrop is convenient. But it's slow and has trouble with large number of files, sometimes file formats
+ iCloud backup works great behind the scenes
+ Auto-password save and fill in is convenient
+ Has option to shoot videos in 25FPS, 50FPS
I can't think of more pluses for the iPhone
I don't really care about gimmicks like customisability, 120Hz, 108MP cameras. All I care about is work. Can this phone do work and I don't mean making phone calls, checking messages or social media.
The deal breaker for me with Android is actually the inability to record videos at 25FPS on Android phones with default camera apps. Shooting 25FPS with third party apps have limitations, ie no OIS, don't have access to all cameras, can't use full resolution. Maybe there are phones that I don't know of that are capable of recording at 25FPS.
People who spend so much money on iPhones don't want to be told that their iPhone is inferior to Android phones, especially to cheaper Android phones. But seriously, you can't even play a MP4 video with the Files app, and can't AirDrop files fast and reliably after all these years?
