I am. I know the useable screen real-estate is smaller but I am looking forward to the smaller overall footprint. 27th can’t come soon enough.

I'll most likely go from 7 Plus to X, then X to X Plus next year.

BTW here's a comparo of actual screen sizes.

iphone-x-iphone-8-and-iphone-8-plus-screen-size-comparison.jpg

same here. 7 plus to X and to X plus next year!

I'm not worried about it at all actually. Bigger screen than the 8, at a smaller form factor than the plus. I'm all for it.More of a chance for me to get one...

Looking forward to the smaller device with nearly the same sized OLED screen. The notch won't bother me and neither will Face ID, assuming it disappears into the background as Craig F states. The only issue I see is the loss of the 16:9 screen size which beautifully fills up my 7+ in landscape mode while the X will have the vertical black bars on each side. Hopefully, I can live with that and end up enjoying the experience as much as I have enjoyed the 7+ with iOS 10.

Is anyone here upgrading from the 7 Plus to the X? Kinda feeling scared as reddit and some posts here are all warning me it’s a much smaller screen than my Plus but I really feel like handling that new tech so very conflicted whether to get this or get a Note 8 which has similar technology but without the screen size issue. Is anyone here making the jump? So I feel like i am not alone.:p
I am, I actually like that its a bit smaller then my 7+.

I've always hated that the Plus iPhones were always a bit better than the non-plus, because I do prefer the smaller physical size of those phones. But the better battery life, camera, and screen density always kept me choosing the Plus. So now I'm really looking forward to having the best iPhone available with the smaller body. Hopefully the battery life will be the same as with the Pluses as Apple claims. Next year when the X Plus is offered, I hope all the specs will be identical to the smaller version. So yes, I will be getting the X when it's released

My thoughts almost exactly. If the X wasn't coming, I was going to go with the iPhone 8 this year after having 6S Plus and 7 Plus. I'm growing tired of the larger size but stayed with it for reasons listed above. I'm excited that I won't have to make sacrifices to use the device I want.

What do you mean smaller screen, it’s a 5.8 compared to 5.5 on the plus. So it’s bigger.

I too am having second thoughts to upgrade from an iPhone 7+ to an iPhone X. I was going to order two phones, one of them for my wife. I am having second thoughts for myself. Main reason being I am very uncomfortable not being able to play on the phone prior to ordering it. If the phone was on display at an Apple stores, I would play with it and then I would order it. The time between the announcement and the time to get the phone is kind of killing my enthusiasm for it.

The screen is taller but it’s width is only as much as the 4.7 iPhone so if you take into account the notch it’s much smaller than the 7 Plus.

It's bigger on paper because it has a different aspect ratio. You could take the X's screen cut the width in half make it a tiny bit longer and have a bigger screen on paper. A marketer's dream really.

Measuring diagonally in inches kind of losses its point when you change the aspect ratio, but the measurement is true on paper and marketing loves it. Here is an easy example, I even threw a notch in.

The time between the announcement and the time to get the phone allowed me to get some priorities straight. I decided to put the money to hurricane relief instead. Also it gave me time, on a more self serving level, to realize I don't want to be stuck preordering the carrier version of the X with the Intel modem. There was a discussion about that elsewhere and I really would prefer to get the unlocked version. I actually have more interest in the iPhone 8 Plus at this point as a more practical choice for myself, if I were going to upgrade at all. In the end I am just going to hold onto my 7+. Eventually the funds will be there again to re-evaluate my options when my 7+ is well past the year mark of ownership. Like around Mothers Day or something.

My wife and I’s phones work perfectly fine so there is no need to upgrade them this year unless one of them breaks. Most likely we will be upgrading our iPhone 6s phones next year with the hope of there being an X Plus 6.6” model.

My hope then too is there will be more color options to choose from.

I actually miss the 4.7” size. Plus’s size screen is nice, but it’s overall size is a bit too big for my ideal form factor.

Really excited for the X as I’m thinking and hoping that it is the size I’ve been waiting for.

i think I’m going with the X and keeping it for a couple years. I’ve wanted a smaller phone for a while but like the battery life and screen size of the plus.

5.8 is diagonal tho. The phone it self as in form factor is just a little bigger than the 4.7 but screen bigger than plus. Kinda perfect actually.

The aspect ratios are different so it’s not reliable to compare screen size directly.

When you take out the bezels of course it’s going to seem smaller in hand after using a plus for so long. It’s going to make one handed so much better. Happy about that. I have had a plus the last 2 years so big change for me..

7.6 lol, you need ET fingers to use tht.lol

It’s going to make one handed better. The plus should be going away in the next few years so it’s time for all of us to get use to the new form factor!
