Mine ran really hot on both sides. Too hot to use my laptop on my lap. This was just browsing and watching a few videos.
ok well this makes no sense. you want to be able to do heavy processor driving tasks while it sits on your balls?

i've never had a laptop that could stay that cool when doing anything demanding on the machine

That’s pretty brutal. Doesn’t sound like overheating but not fun. If I run my 2015 flat out it can get toasty, but certainly nothing like that. Only a dual core of course. I never use it on my lap either though so moot point for me.

What?

Like, literally?

You may need to see a doctor. :D

I don't know where you keep your balls, but mine are nowhere near the top of my legs. I use a laptop because it is portable. I take it on the road. Sometimes I have it on my lap. I do not do processor intensive tasks. If web browsing and word processing is considered taxing for this MB, then this computer has no business being called "Pro".

I can see from some of the responses when someone talks negatively about the Mac or the problems they are having people go on the offensive. It's nothing personal.

I'm not defending this machine at all, i'm just worried all this is true. I really want to like this machine and i'm hoping for the best.

Unless something has changed I'd be very surprised the 13" gets too hot to use on a lap, full out my 15" gets warm on the bottom but hardly burning. If you want to feel heat try a Razer Blade 2018 or a PowerBook G4 12" at full tilt.

But in any case, people get really melodramatic (myself included) about tech.

Yep. That generation of MBP’s is unfortunately already infamous for its battery issues. If possible, I would recommend returning it and getting the early 2019 model with 4TB3. I have it and it is incredible. Good luck![/QUOTE

Ok which model has the 4 TB3 ports? I’m looking on Best Buy site and can’t find it. 13” with touchbar

ok there is a weird screen line or glitch that happens rarely but it happens and i caught it.

wtf is that? does anyone have a video of it?

Are you sure it is camera quality? Could be compression. Remember, ever since douchebags at Virnext sued Apple, FaceTime is not P2P and runs through servers... all of which has introduced lower quality video.

no idea, never kknew about that.

the flicker... i've seen it multiple times now. anyone know what's that about? the flicker on the screen every

Horizontal lines flashing across the screen. Reminds me of graphics card issues from the past. Battery depletion issues for no reason, and the sides got so hot I couldn’t use my laptop on my lap. And I can’t confirm but I could swear I had keys double strike.

I had the 13 inch base with 256gb of storage.

has this been addressed? i'm starting to panic as i have been seeing these lines more frequently.

I got them again last night. Just one quick flicker.
True Tone is turned off but night shift is scheduled for 10pm and I think it happened at that transition...

it has nothing to do with night shift, i have it off and it happened to me twice already in the last hour. it happens every time the laptop moves somewhat, but not always when the laptop moves.

i wonder if anyone tested this by just letting the laptop sit on a desk untouched with a movie playing.

i'm starting to think this is hardware related.

Hmm, I'm gonna have a good look over mine tonight, move it, different settings, locations, room lighting etc

Do you have True Tone on? It can react light when you move it, getting if from different angle or light source for example.
In my unit flickering happened once just during Night Shift turning on, so definitely that is one that can cause it, but if you have it disabled, then it is not in your case.

Well, I've tried True Tone and night shift on and off, together and independently of each other.
Moved the MBP around the house, different rooms, different lighting, closed and reopened lid etc. everything I can think of.
Not seen the flicker happen anymore since the one quick one last night....
Very strange...

All I've done since last night is run the battery down completely, recharge to 100%, change some notification settings, installed a couple of new programs (Better Touch Tool and Bartender).... nothing that should affect this screen issue....

Will post again when/if it happens again...

Apple’s value proposition has changed. In 2008 I got a Dell and a MacBook. The MacBook was $150 more for similar specs.

However, the MacBook had the great unibody construction, way way better screen contrast, and a better camera. Value. It was more than worth the money. It’s also still in use where the Dell died for the second and final time after 4 years. Value.

Now, pricing has gotten out of hand. Further, the locked down parts compels you to further future spec at exorbitant prices. They’ve taken steps but it’s not enough. Finally, their reliability is perceived to be worse. What made the company great is gone and it’s sad to see.

it is sad to see. really. they keep disappointing me over and over and over over.

my loyalty is so firm though because it is all i have used for 20+ years. It's hard to switch but since i've been and will continue to work in a linux environment i'm beginning to think when this computer no longer has much left i'm going to stick linux on it and roll another 5+ years with it and then after that never again Apple.

It is possible that patch did something. I'm not really sure as it happens so rarely in my machine but is possible I haven't seen it after installing. That patch also may have done something to battery FCC drop under load issue.

Anyone else noticing trackpad not completely level in their entry MBP 2019? When you feel the height difference between trackpad and aluminium chassis in different locations with your fingers (it is very hard to see visually as you need to view it under good light at the certain angle/direction since the glass surface is deceiving), is it exactly the same all locations?

EDIT: Just saw one short flash happening, so the latest Mojave patch did not stop them completely. It was again just brief flash that I barely saw as it lasted as long as a blink of an eye and went away. I was just browsing this site when it happened.

i don't know if this is in my head or if the keyboard is already starting to give out. the keys suddenly got 'mushy' and less responsive.....

sigh, god i hope this is in my head and i've just been typing too long on it and not the keyboard actually faltering. for the first week i loved this keyboard, it felt amazing, but i know everyone said it doesn't last, and wow i didn't think it would start to degrade within weeks of purchasing the damn thing.

is it possible or is this in my head?
