I replaced a battery once since iPhone 2... it was out of the warranty time anyhow.
never had AC on my iPhones or MacBooks... been using them since I joined here.

I have never gone caseless; although the 12PM has a sturdier grip than the 11PM, I still slap a clear case on as usual. Thing is I don’t do Apple care😉

Either get a mini (which I have and love) and or go caseless with AppleCare+. If something happens it’s super cheap to get fixed. :)
The mini is the slipperiest phone I have ever handled. Caseless not possible for me.

I've owned 4 iPhones over the past 7 years and haven't bought AC+ for any of them. I've always just bought a good quality case and a couple of screen protectors. I've never broken a phone so in my case buying AC+ for all 4 phones would have been a waste of over £500. I've probably spent about £150 on the cases and screen protectors which I would have bought regardless. I rarely drop my phone but I'd rather have it protected and retain higher resale value for when I upgrade.
Your logic is good. I spent $300 on cases for the 11Pro so I chose apple care instead of cases this time lol

I understand your perspective, hear me out though.
If you pop this specific phone in a case all scratches vanish, what’s the point of using a depreciating electronic device that’s made with premium-ish materials with cheap silicone, leather or plastic?

secondly, cost & benefit

i bought 5 cases last year for my 11P : cost ~$300.
this year apple care is $260 and then a $29 or $99 charge for damage.

sure, a $5 case blows this calculation, but this is just my way to go. Use caseless with insurance to protect against any cracks or water crap

It also depends on what you do with your iPhone once you get a new one. If you want to resell it or pass it on, a case would help to preserve its value. Any insurance will cost you more than the best cases on the market. As I usually pass my Apple gadgets on, I keep my iPhone in a very slim transparent case with a minimal (1,5 mm) screen rim. Works very well for me. Then I also have friends who use their iPhones caseless, but I just have not reached that level of detachment yet. 😋

Hey guys,

Yesterday I received my new 12pro with apple silicone case.
(had an iphone 6 prior to that...)

I’m experiencing some difficulty:

1. the overall size of it is larger than the iphone 6 especially with the silicone case. I have small hands, and I’ve noticed that it is hard for me to type with one hand now. Which bothers me.
2. The increased weight also is noticeable for me (and my wrist).

My question:
Since I’ve noticed that without the case, it is much easier for me to type with one hand and the weight is oddly much less of an issue.

i’m wondering if it’s a bad idea to just not use a case? Without it i feel much more comfortable (and natural) to use the phone. The other option is to replace to an iphone 12 mini.

What would you do?
Thx

You should be fine.

Otherwise maybe get yourself a dbrand skin and Tempered Glass Screen Protector? Skins are super slim stickers that cover your phone and can also help provide more grip depending on the texture you go for.

That's just insanity. The glass back + the squared edges make this one of the least slippery phones in the lineup. There's always somebody squawking about "slippery bar of soap" around here no matter what devices is being discussed.

This sandpaper phone is the slipperiest phone ever !!

Just got a new one, last one was launch day. Silver looks fab, but the lack of a PVD coating is visible too soon. Not like the iPhone 4 patina.

You can probably polish out most scratches on the silver one. When there’s a PVD coating, you cannot polish them. It’s the same with stainless steel Apple Watches.

Caseless is great as long as you don’t drop your iPhone because when the day comes you drop it just remember both back and front are glass
Apples cases are attractive and light and most important provide some protection

Too much hassle, easier to get a new one

iPhone 7, 8 plus, XS and now 12 mini. No broken glass at all. Just treat your device like a 1k device.
