Since upgrading to iOS 7 I am constantly manually correcting words that should have easily been picked up by autocorrect. Simple words that are clearly misspellings of common words. I really don't get it, how can they make something they've already developed worse??

Try resetting your keyboard dictionary. Settings > General > Reset > Reset Keyboard dictionary.

It'll be annoying at first because it'll have to relearn your typing style, but it could be worth a try.

Will I lose all of my shortcuts?

works exactly the same for me. your mind is subconsciously looking for differences between 6 and 7.

I'm really not, I want to love it. If you knew the amount of hoops I had to jump through to get my replacement 4S you would believe me lol.

----------

It shouldn't affect your shortcuts. Just the words it "learned" over time.

Hmm ok. Although it seems the problem is with words it isn't recognizing.

You need to stop and THINK before you post.

This thread does not belong in the iPhone section, it belongs in the iOS section.

Once you've figured that out, you also need to make sure you're not reposting a topic that has already been covered. You need to use the search.

Sorry, honestly wasn't sure. I thought it through and concluded iPhone forum was most relevant because the responsiveness is more related to the screen.

Well I tend to find auto correct is ok until your correct your word halfway thru. By that. I mean it only registers the word once started without the interruption correcting it.

Autocorrect is at least slightly different in iOS 7. Sometimes it's better in some cases, but sometimes it can make things worse.

Coupled with the keyboard being slightly different as well in a way that it doesn't seem to pick up the right keys as often as the pre-iOS 7 one, it seems that the typing speed of at least some people has been negatively affected in iOS 7.

iOS 7 brought some new things to autocorrect for better or worse.

Multi word correction for example.

This is obviously an example of "worse". What in the world did it think I was trying to say? "Yo use"?

And before anyone says it's autocorrecting to a word I use I NEVER say "yo". Makes me cringe just thinking about it.

At least it doesn't correct "yo" to "to" anymore :p

I turned autocorrect off about 6 years ago and never looked back. ;) But I just got an iPhone 5s a few days ago to replace my iPhone 4 with iOS 6. The very first thing that struck me when I entered my Apple ID on the new phone was how much better the keyboard was. I make far fewer typos on the new phone in portrait mode.

My assumption was that this had more to do with the hardware than iOS though.

Don't ignore me, my questions are genuine

What kind of phone do you have? I have a iPhone 4 and it hurts my heart when I type because I type a sentence or two and the my phone then throws all the words up on the screen. And then as I type it is still a little delayed. I want a new phone so bad!!!

MY god man why don't you give it up and move to another phone. You clearly are not happy about anything iPhone. Everyday it seems there is a new thread by you complaining about something. Or maybe you've just got nothing better to do.
