I actually thought it looked halfway decent during the keynote. But I just put the beta on my 4S, and it's pretty hideous and just straight up awkward in real life usage. It seems even more Fisher-Pricey than ever, but more than anything, everything just felt really bloated and cramped on my tiny screen. Maybe it'll grow on me once it's out of beta and I upgrade to 5S.

I also miss having the weather widget in the notification center, and not sure what the hell happened to the Voice notes app that I use to record lectures.

I can tell YOU aren't a developer and have no business installing iOS 7. If You WERE you would KNOW, that Voice Memos isn't available in THIS beta, It was stated in the release notes. You would ALSO know that the Weather widget is in Notification Center in a new form, and the other two widgets aren't available yet.

Is it reasonable to assume that it's still pretty early in the game and that things could change before actual release, such as polishing up the icons, as a result of feedback directly to Apple?

Havent even finished watching the vid, and I want it!

I was dead against the idea of a flat UI...we'd taken 10 years to develop what we now have. But I gotta say, it actually looks great. Do wonder how itll look on a black iPhone, but hey, small issue.

Swap to andriod? Someone, please, pass me a spoon, I want to cut my heart out!!!!

With a home screen as cluttered and obnoxious as that, I can see why you would consider the new design "ugly".

If you're judging solely on screenshots, then you're way off. Seeing it in person gives it a feel that is unlike anything we've seen before.

I've commented in other threads about this, but it seems to make the whole screen feel more alive and vibrant than I can ever remember before. There is an added emotional element to it with the way the wallpaper subtly shifts as you hold the device.

Test it in person before you judge.

I do agree with you. How much I do love the new interface, I think Apple needs to tone down the color. Really... maybe just a little bit. Right now I think the colors are too "neon-y", too bright...

I have yet to make up my mind on iOS 7, but I do like the classic, 'quality' feel of iOS 6. While I agree that it wasn't the most fresh, modern UI, I thought it had a sense of classic and robust design, like something that doesn't really age, just because it is good, they got the basics right.

In my opinion, iOS 7 will look dated in a few years while iOS 6 would stand the test of time no matter what.

I agree with you. In a few years all this Ive design philosophy will be outdated and in need of a serious redo. I don't think this design has the legs that the original design does.

Yes, the existing design was a game changer, just like the iPhone was, for its day. But really, if not a interface redesign, all we'd get each year would be a faster way to do not much more!

Green felt, faux linen, stitched leather, wood grain and gloss have legs but black and white with splashes of color doesn't?

It looks like cheap crap now. Every WWDC i have seen something exciting and brilliant. This is the first time ever I have been disappointed.

Another point about these new kiddy-toy icons - you have to select your wallpaper carefully, because they are so "flat" if you have matching colours on your background the icons blend in too much.

lots of negativity here... I really enjoy it on my phone

It's extremely simple yet beautiful and accessible. The only way I could be happier would be if there was a quick reply function for Messages. It definitely doesn't look like a cheap toy. It looks like a modern UI run by the most beautiful hardware (HTC One has the best looking front face but the back is hideous).

I much prefer the current iOS 6 home screen look and feel. It just makes my iPhone feels like a premium device, I really like it. I can definitely appreciate the new multitasking, upgrade on Safari, and also the control switchers. But the design seems like a major downgrade... Anyone else feels the same way?

The thing i have said before about the older "feel" is that the icons etc made the screen "pop". Since it had retina icons for a retina display. Now it seems to me, that without the retina icons. The display is minimilistic. It doesn't "pop" out to the eye as much. I also think it gets thrown off as some of the icons look flat, and other apps still have the retina icon. So it looks off. Maybe once all the apps are updated to this flat design it won't look as bad. But we would have to wait till all of the developers update their apps to look uniform with the OS.

Me.

The majority of the new icons look like a (bad) work in progress.

I can appreciate the in app layout but the icons must have been plotted out by the Samsung CEO.

Cheap toy?? Not even close. The old iOS certainly did though.

iOS 7 looks clean, classy, elegant, and modern.

Some of the icons aren't the best, but the keyboard, menus, control panel, notifications, app switcher, Safari tabs, new Calendar, basically all of the stock apps... They all look and feel great. iOS 6 now officially feels like an outdated turd.

I agree with this 100%, in fact IOS 6 looks to me now antiquated!!!!

That's a bit of a stretch.

On topic though I prefer the new look of iOS over the old.

I really would like people to specify whether they've installed it and used it before commenting.

I've just downgraded. In my opinion it looks amateurish and unbalanced with a distinct lack of refinement. I suspect while there will be some who try it and like it the majority of the posters defending the new look are only going my youtube walkthroughs and the keynote.

At the moment - it is a train-wreck.
