is it pointless to keep trying on Apple.com tonight?

I have been trying at this on/off for the past 14 hours....lol...no luck. I might give up and just go into a store sometime before July 4th. I keep getting this error:

We were unable to complete set up online.
To finish creating your account, you’ll need to visit an Apple Retail Store where we can help you in person.
 
I tried the Apple site off and on from 1:15am this morning. Finally got one order to go through at 5:20pm.

I needed two phones. The other order make it through AT&T's order system at 5am this morning.

It will be interesting to see when each arrives.
 
I also just finished my order about 5 minutes ago. Keep trying and good luck!

I'm all freaked out though because I haven't gotten a confirmation email yet. I have Apple related PTSD. ;)

I wouldn't worry. I got mine in at 4 PM and got my confirmation e-mail at 7 PM.
 
I started at 4am while getting ready for work so off and on for an hour. Total about a dozen times. The farthest I got was picking a data plan then Apple **** the bed. Tried both safari and explorer.

I tried several different computers at work….. nada… I tried my 2G on Edge and wifi nothing. I called my wife at home to walk her through it on the home computer again, nope.

Zip, zero, nada…..

It was not meant to be boyz…… maybe I’ll get the 4.1….. :D
 
After 13 hours, I finally got mine ordered to be shipped. I had to promise to never use a device or go to a website that uses Flash and get a HTML5 tatoo on my forehead.

Then it worked right away :)
 
Just spent 5 minutes on apple.com and placed and order.. no timeouts.. no issues. That's 4 iPhones i've successfully ordered today! (All for different people)
 
Perseverance my friends...my order just came through...keep trying until you fall asleep.

Just put an order through...Keep on trying.
 
I do not think that it is pointless to keep trying. Earlier today I went to best buy and preordered 2 16 gb blacks but I couldn't get an appointment until after 5 so I tried apple.com again and I got my order placed and still says I will get it on the 24th and seeing as how apple has already charged my cc I am thinking I am good to go.
 
Just got my order in apple.com for the 32gb. Like others have said, just keep trying. I've been trying all day today and finally got through at 6:50pm.
 
Yea I'm giving for the night. It's even telling me:

Today was not my day...for ordering an iPhone 4 anyway. This is my first "Apple" experience...lol.
 
Don't give up. I was just now able to put my 2nd iphone in the cart. Now having problems checking out. One part of the site works, then another breaks down. Got my 1st one earlier, @ 4:30. Have been trying ever since. Now to get the item out of the cart and into my email :)
 
so im confused i didnt preorder last year, i want to pre order for pick up but when i check elegibity it has me put in my information gives me the price ive qualified for and then gives me an option to add to cart on apple.com but says it currently isnt available for preorder for in store pick up but they will be available on a first come first serve basis on june 24th. i mean i doesnt even ask what storei want to pick up from so how does it know if they have all been spoken for at my local apple store? is anyone else seeing that message for all of you who have preordered?
