Sure I'll play along. Even though there's not a chance in hell of all of this being included:

Longer screen = Meh

Still a bigger screen (I believe 25% more screen real-estate?) while keeping the small form factor.

Higher quality screen =

The New iphone screen is rumored to incorporate the touch layer as well as the thinner glass will make the display better, with less distortion and glare.

LTE = mainly a waste since LTE won't be ubiquitous with AT&T till end of 2013

LTE is available everywhere I go, so yeah its a big deal to me.

Unibody design = iPhone 4S already has one

No it doesn't, you can remove the back plate. Unibody means the back and the sides are all one piece.

Gorilla glass 2 = Easier to scratch than the first version of GG

 Where did you get that idea? Check the videos on the new diplay panel, its much more resistant to scratches.

Metal back = 4S glass back can be replaced for $20, while metal back could be stuck w/ scratches & scuffs

Porbably yes on the scratches and scuffs, though hopefully its color is solid all they way through, that way the scuffs and scratches arent as noticeable. As for buy a metal back for the iPhone 4S, sure, you can do that, but it wont be the same. ;)

Thinner = iPhone 4S is plenty thin. I don't want it so thin my iPhone snaps in my pocket :p

Well, I'm sure the metal unibody will make it a little difficult to snap in half. ;)

Faster = iPad 3 already has heat issues with the A5x chip. I shudder to think what will happen to the new iPhone when your using it on a sunny day :(

No real rumors about what prossecor it will use, though I'm sure if its the A5x they will have used a smaller dye and underclocked it to limit the heat.

NFC = So now theives can not only steal my phone but use it to buy things afterwards. Great

Pretty sure they'll need some kind of password or verification to make purchases, and you can always locate and erase the data on the phone with iTunes, unlike your actual wallet where you would have to call you credit card companies and banks one by one to cancel them all.

Better dock connector = Huh? What are you even talking about? Why would a different dock connector be "better"? Does it somehow magically give you increased features than the 30 pin dock connector?

Yes, it'll be USB 3, so much faster transfer speeds. Plus it'll be easier to plug in and out, maybe no big deal normally, but after a long days work, or if your exhausted, or wasted, the easier plug will be much appreciated. :D

Thanks Fernandez for taking the time to reply. You are the first one to go over the new potential features in depth + you did it in a very polite way. sorry if I was being cranky earlier :(

My advice is that you wait for an official announcement before you make a decision. Like others have said on here, this is sort of a pre-matuer post.

Simple no for me. Don't have an upgrade till June of next year plus the 4s is an amazing phone. The only thing I regret was getting the white the model instead of the black one. I wish there was a way to just go to an Apple store and switch all of the data on to a new one because you made a mistake in phone color :D

IIRC, the rumoured heat issues are not due to the processor, but because of the 2 light panels generating more heat in the process of lighting up the display. So the issue is really more with the display. :)

Why don't you like the white iphone ? I love mine!!! Just curious...

Because I can then use a cheap Pre-Paid plan of $30 a month which gives me all I need for the phone, and when the next one comes out I can sell my unlocked phone for only a few hundred less than I paid for it and upgrade.

A plan may be slightly cheaper in the long run, but limits me to 1 company (I'm talking outside the USA here where we have a decent choice), means the iPhone is usually locked to the provider (Although they will usually unlock it free or for a small fee), and here we dont get early upgrade options like the USA so I'd have to buy the next iPhone outright anyway, or be stuck with the phone for 2 years and that is not going to happen!

After doing all the sums, outright phone purchases are the only way to go for me.
A prepaid plan gives you data and messaging as well as minutes?

From what I've seen, external redesigns don't change much under the hood (original iPhone -> iPhone 3G, iPhone 3GS -> iPhone 4, as examples). It's the "S" designs that are a complete makeover on the inside and truly make a performance difference.

I will happily keep my 4S knowing it can run iOS 6 in its entirety (except for new iPhone only features, of course) and will patiently wait until iPhone gen 7, which is when I can upgrade at the fully subsidized price again.

Sadly, we likely already know what the new iPhone will entail and it's depressing.

100 additional pixels. Big deal...

LTE that isn't even available to most of us.

Oh, but it has aluminum on the back! Wowie!

SMH...

I think for 4 users it's definitely an upgrade. For 4S users not so much. I'm on contract til fall of 2013, so im waiting for the 6. My 4S is plenty fast until then. Good thing I got the 4S. Almost got the 4 when the 4S was released! (was my first iPhone)

I see that lot of people are against your thoughts, but I agree with you. I am fully eligible for upgrade but I am not going to upgrade assuming that what we know so far is iPhone 5.

I am kind of fine with iPhone 4S and it works well. Frankly, I am not interested in longer phone and NFC and all that stuff.

I am sure Apple will be have few more Megapixel camera, more RAM, Siri+ and what not but for me all these things are meh.

Anyway, I am sure the iPhone 5 will be shiny and attractive new product and will generate a lot of hype and sell in millions but I don't see any reason for me to upgrade. In fact I don't even feel that excited for iPhone 5 (or whatever they name it but you get the point).

I will definitely go to Apple store and check it out and enjoy it for 5-10 minutes.

Sure. It's easy to say LTE is good when it is everywhere... but that's just not happening with AT&T until the end of next year.

LTE on the new iPhone seems wasted for the majority of AT&T users.

Dunno where you live, but AT&T has had LTE in my market and every market I care about for a long time now.

Yep, I'm upgrading.

Also, AT&T has LTE in my area, it's awesome on the iPad.

----------

How much do those plans cost usually?

I bought a pre-paid SIM in Ireland when I was there on vacation. 20 euro (about $25 US) and unlimited data.

LTE - won't be widespread on AT&T for another year

Longer screen - meh

Anything else really groundbreaking that will convince 4S owners to upgrade?

Well when amazon.com is paying for iPhone 4S 16GB Black (Like New Condition) $410 and $420 for the exact same in White....is anyone going to think twice? I know it is amazon.com credit but hey you can buy the new iPhone tax free (for most states)

From what im seeing, It's not even worth upgrading for 4 users......
If i didn't think syncing music to a s3 with a mac/itunes i'll probably get that.

As a 4 owner, a bigger screen and faster connection would be nice, but is it worth $200 for the new phone plus having to replace all those expensive cases and chargers?
