I have had both. IMO, the XR/11 is an amazing device at that price. The 11P/11PM is your ‘premium’ option. For 95% of people the Pro is not worth $300 more. Few will use the portrait lens with any frequency and I think the IQ on it is a bit weaker. OLED is nice but test general population and see who can tell the difference. XR/11 rocks. I went with 11PM as I can’t go smaller screen and the battery life of the Pro this year (both) is better.

Again, as I've stated repeatedly over and over, "better" is subjective. Like asking "what's the best color?" it all comes down to what's best for your needs and use case scenario. If you're undecided, go to a store and check them out in person to get a feel for what they have to offer. For my needs, the telephoto lens is a must have. Is it $300 better, well that's debatable.

As I have posted in other forums, this is what makes Apple great. They make an iPhone for everyone. We don't have to debate which is better. If you want or need a telephoto lens or OLED or a 5.8 or 6.5 inch screen, then the pro is available. For most, the regular 11 will be what they buy. If you still want a home button, the 8/8 plus is available. It all depends on your use case and the features you want. Personally, I chose the regular 11 this year. It is an amazing phone for the price, and its just the right size for me. Again, everyone has different wants and needs and there is an iPhone for everyone.

How is the camera and battery a big difference? They have the exact same camera except for the telephoto. The battery on the pro is better but the 11 lasts all day. Obviously it’s a personal opinion which is why am asking ppl, is it $300 better in your opinion?

A telephoto lens is a big deal and if you are comparing, if you had to buy one for let’s say a DSLR, they range in price from $100 to several thousand.

And extra battery life is a big deal. For my XS I bought the battery case which was over $100. I travel a lot and need the battery life.

Just those two features alone can easily be worth $300 never mind the better screen.

Keep in mind, you can get an 11 with 128gb, but with the Pro you have to make the jump to 256 or stay with the gimped 64.

Exactly that! So if you compare the "sweet spot" 128 GB 11 to the 265 GB Pro the difference is actually $400, which is not worth it in my opinion...

For me this is even more the case because I don't use the cameras that much. I am still one of these "old school" guys that uses a "real" Digicam with a 16 times bigger sensor, a viewfinder and some very fine glass to create photos on my own instead of letting this be done by "computational photography" on the iPhone...

That was the major factor in me picking a 128gb 11 vs a Pro model. I'm happy with my 11 coming from an X.

No offense but, I’m beginning to think you have buyers remorse and are attempting to justify your purchase. Your still in the 14 day return period. Maybe you should consider exchanging the 11 for a 11 Pro or you may regret it.
This is the feeling I'm getting as well after the post you quoted. Seems like OP is more interested in discrediting others' reasons for selecting the Pro over the 11 than having a meaningful discussion.

Personally, the biggest factor for me was the size. I used the XR for a few days last year and really tried to get used to it but it just wasn't comfortable for me. A friend of mine still has his and any time he hands me his phone to check something out I'm reminded of how happy I am with the size of the XS/Pro.

The fast charger in the box, OLED display, improved battery life and additional camera along with being the ideal size in my hand absolutely makes it worth the extra $300 for me. Not everybody will agree and that's cool.

Keep in mind, you can get an 11 with 128gb, but with the Pro you have to make the jump to 256 or stay with the gimped 64.

I had the 256 XS last year and when I went to upgrade, I was using 72 of that 256. I see that as a massive waste so I went with the "gimped" 64 for my Pro. I'm currently sitting at 34 used.

Not for me no. The screen on the 11 is good enough for me. I value storage more. I can't believe a 256gb iPhone is cheaper than a 64gb pro iPhone with a smaller screen. That's just how I look at it. I like to shoot video with my phone and be able to edit them in a single device. The cameras are excellent for video and I don't need a telephoto lens for that purpose.

It comes down to what you need and use your phone for.

Edit: I upgraded from an XS Max and the "transition" back to LCD wasn't even a thing.

In my opinion, absolutely not. This is not to discredit the 11 pro in any way shape or form cause it’s a solid phone obviously, but my girlfriend has it and I have the 11. I have done a lot of comparisons, mainly when it comes to the display technology. I find the iPhone 11 to be brighter even though it isn’t on paper. To be fair she finds her 11 pro to be brighter. Also I played the same nature video on both devices at 1080p 60fps, hers had it with hdr as well. Honest to God, there’s barely any difference TO ME. She didn’t notice much of a difference either. Even with the colors they both were vibrant, yes the amoled was a bit more vibrant but you really have to look for it. Then I tried dark mode on both devices and yeah the oled shines there no questions, however the 11 was decent. But that is where you can definitely notice the difference. Lastly, I checked the viewing angles and the Oled was better as well but nobody looks at their phones at an angle like that. Again that isn’t to take away from the 11 pro cause that’s definitely A plus but no big deal. With all that being said, I really do not see a $300 difference between these 2 phones. I couldn’t care less about a telephoto lens and battery life is amazing on the 11 even though it’s better on the 11 pro. As long as you can make it through a day without any issues I think that’s what matters. What are your thoughts? Do you notice a big difference between both displays and if yes, does that warrant the $300 extra in your opinion? Lets discuss it :)

You will notice a big difference in screen quality if you know what you are looking for. I could see those pixels in my bed when I am laying down with the phone close to my face. The pro is louder and has dolby vision also. One of the cameras in the 11 do not have ois. The battery is the key for me to be honest. Another thing is that the regular 11 cant play 1080p on the screen so that is flawed. Try going to youtube and play a 1080p60 hdr 10 video and you will see.

No, it’s not $300 better. The iPhone 11 is the sweet spot and after that the law of diminishing gains kicks in.

This has been true since last year with the XR and now Apple made it official by making the iPhone 11 the flagship.

I switched from a XR to a Pro Max just because I wouldn’t spend $700 on what is essentially the same phone as the XR, so I got the best one available.

I think $700 is too much for the regular 11 and the pro is a better buy. If I am going to spend $700 on that phone, I would go with the s10 plus

The difference between 828p and 1080p on a 6.1" screen is not relevant. Even the Pro's can't use more than 1080p because Apple did not support the VP9 codec which is necessary for that...

Spending $700 on that regular money is a waste to me all you are getting is a next camera lens with no ois, a battery battery and a different cpu as the xr. It is better to get the iphone xs or xs max before wasting your money on the 11. A lot of other things you can get for that price because that screen is trash. Try going into direct sunlight with that phone and see if you don't hurt your eyes with that lcd screen. Graphical games looks way more smoother and more vibrant. You have better call reception on the pros as well and better LTE speeds. I could go on but I doon't have the time. People here probably trying to feel content with themselves by buying the $700 phone that don't worth the price in my opinion. Spend the $300 extra so you won't have to ask these questions. First thing a person will say is; you spend $700 and your phone don't even have a 1080p screen and can't watch hdr content which is a norm now lol

I cannot see pixels on my pro or xs max when i had it. I could see them when I saw people with the xr. It does not look good to me who came from a htc 10 that had QHD AND HAD LCD.Also had a 8 plus and a 6s plus because they were 1080p and even that phone wasnt that expensive for what you are getting. Iphone 11 is a rip off

Your $1250 11 Pro Max is worth nothing next year when the new design with 5G comes to the market. This is the last iPhone from that generation with old tech like the Intel modem. In that sense the 11 is the better decision....

I guess this the reason to go off topic. I sold my XS MAX 256 GB for $950 why you think I can't get the same for my phone now? apple trade in value will be $600 again so once i get more than that it does not matter. I upgrade every year. Try selling your 11 next year and see if you get anything for it

It depends what your preference is. For me the Pro's are a rip off because the display and one more camera is not worth it. I am sure that you will loose more money with you 11 Pro Max than myself with the 11.....

No everyone looks for the latest and greatest... I sold my iphone 8 (4,7 64gb) for 480€ and costs 529 new...

I am not here defending my purchase! I am just replying to the OP as to why people spent the extra $300

Surely this is the case for every phone that gets a yearly upgrade like iPhones do?

Yes, that is true but there are bigger and smaller jumps between the generations. Next year will be a much bigger jump and because of that you loose more when you buy now...

You say the bolded like it's a bad thing. It has the same RAM and CPU as the 11 Pro's (?). The rest of what you wrote...well, that's just your opinion. There's nothing you said that even moved the needle as to how I think the 11 has more value to me.

The Pro is better in every way, it cost $300-$400 more.. Let’s get over it!

Display is way better!

material is better It is steel!

1124P or 1242P vs only 828p.

2x optical zoom, without loss in picture quality.

3.38 million pixels!!! Vs only 1.48million

more water proof

Solid black blacks!!!

Matte glass back that doesn’t micro scratch the minute you use it is a nice touch too.

I spent the entire weekend on the 11 in direct sunlight at my sons baseball games. The screen was bright and wonderful. And so were the cameras. For me the 11 is an unbeatable value.

Personally I think that’s the case for all of this years devices if all of next years Devices come with a redesign, 5G and a smaller or no notch
