1. NOT ergonomic. AT ALL. I thought knew how a mouse should feel...Until I put my palm around the MX Revo.

2. The trackball just stops working! This is a known issue. As dust builds up, you will need to take a damp cloth and clean the trackball periodically. Simply unacceptable for a $70 mouse.

3. Sometimes it's very annoying when I try right clicking and my finger is on the left side of the mouse.

4. Batteries. Not really a big deal for many, but I much rather prefer the option of simply docking the mouse when a charge is required.

My first MM I didnt get along with at all- right click design was bad (lifting left finger off to click just does not come naturally to me!) and the scroll ball got very dirty very quickly. The scroll ball stopped working altogether after a while, and I switched back to my original clear mac mouse.

Then I got my new iMac and new MM - I dont know if I'm just cleaner these days or what but I havnt had any problems with the scroll ball at all! Brilliant. Still using control click instead of the right button, but I guess I'm just a little traditionalist at heart!

Sorry I didnt vote but there wasnt a maybe!

p.s. I use a microsoft trackball for work... Brilliant for graphics work.

The mighty mouse is a mighty piece of Shii. Don't buy it.

I have the Logitech MX revolution. It is amazing. To bad its not bluetooth.
I don't really mind since i have a usb hub.

Best Buy sells a might-mouse knock-off with a normal scroll wheel that I've enjoyed using.. lets me keep the look of an apple mouse without the headache of the mighty mouse and its scrollball from hell.

Ive owned the wireless MM for over a year now. Its a personal thing you either love it or you hate it. I personally love it, the scroll ball is fantastic. Ive had no problems with it. The weight is great and my hand sits very comfortably on it and I have larger hands. I think you just need to try one in store, if you find it comfortable then go for it.

Hope that helps.

Is that the rocketfish one? I think I remember seeing it at BB.

Good suggestion, I'll do this.

And again, how is the Targus Mouse that I posted earlier?

I agree with Trivial rock on this. I've had the Wireless Mighty Mouse for almost a year and haven't had any problems with it. The right-click one finger lift is really not that big of a deal and after a few days you hardly notice you're doing it. As far as scroll ball issues, it mostly comes down to how clean your hands are when you use it.

However, if you wait a few more weeks (or months), there may be a major revision to the MM soon. Take a look at the thread link below for the rumored pics of the supposed next Mighty Mouse:

My biggest issue with my wired MM is that overall movement isn't sensitive enough. I have heard the wireless one has higher dpi. Is this true?

no sir

i bought a might mouse to go with my new unibody. i really have to say its a terrible mouse. i got a cheap logitech mouse soon afterwards.

even in mac OS and mac games but especially in windows and windows games the mouse has very little clue which button you are pressing.

if you are dragging files about between finder windows this can end up being very frustrating. Also the mouse does not support pressing two buttons at once which makes it unusable for any application or game that uses these commands.

it generally moves the cursor about better than some cheap mice. its for that reason that i continue to use older apple mice at work. the newer mice with more than one button.......im not fan.

(the problem obviously is that there is actually still only one button, the mouse uses proximity sensors to detect where you pressed the mouse).

hope this helps

I personally don't like the Mighty Mouse, I would always hit the side buttons by accident and overall its just not that great. I would go to the store and find a mouse that feels best for you as there are 101 different mouse designs, best to find the one that feels good in your hands unless that is the mighty mouse.

i have the mighty mouse and there is nothing mighty about it..it makes my hand uncomfortable
get a logitech mx revolution or G7

also logitech has great support for their products;-)

I use an Apple Keyboard and Mighty Mouse on my PC instead of the stock keyboard and mouse and they are amazing! I have dropped it multiple times on a hard surface and not even a scratch, on accident of course.

I know, I didn't notice it because... it doesn't really seem like a bother and is that easy.

I'm amazed at the amount of compromise and inconvenience some people will endure and the sheer effort to convince themselves that it is a superior solution simply to have an Apple logo on their gear.

I do like the trackball on the MM (which incidentally I have not cleaned on any of them) for Excel navigation among other things, but it's myriad of other issues for the everyday important duty of actually mousing leads me to leave it well alone these days.

I have a combination of MX1000's and MX / VX Revolutions. Like the equally compromised (but perhaps less easy to notice for the keyboard n00b) keyboards, I have many Mighty Mice - mostly wired, fresh in their plastic wrappers, ready for a new home when the machine they came with are eventually heaved out of the door.

It's fine. If you have a notebook, then I suggest the MM because there are only 2 USB ports unless you have the 17" MBP or a powered USB hub. I would get the MM simply because it's nice and simple. and works. The MX Revolution has some problems with the hyper-scroll and normal scroll switching. My friend on YouTube had that problem. On the MM, just rub the scroll ball with a damp cloth and it fixes the problem. The MM is bluetooth, so it saves one USB port and is $10 cheaper. Just go to a store, and try them both out. Some ppl hate the MM and others the MX Revolution. All in all, it's just a mouse. Don't overspend on mice.

As the mouse is the second most used thing after the Monitor, i would spend alot of money on a mouse that feels good.

The MX is that mouse.

I would say avoid getting it. I have one and every other week you need to clean the scroll button because it becomes inactive. It's kind of a pain in butt to keep cleaning it.

apple has always made the worst mice. I think they try too hard to be different and end up making stupid design decisions with their mice. Just get a logitech or razer mouse because they are the best in the industry. I personally cannot live without at least 7 buttons. I've been using a razer diamondback for over a year now and it is the best mouse I've ever used.

+1

Apple should get Razer to develop a mouse for them and slap an Apple logo on it. Not that it matters, the current Razer mice work great with Macs.

Ok, Now I'm leaning back to the MX Revolution. Someone in this thread said to invest in your mouse, its the second most used component. So I will :) The MX looks like a great mouse so I think I'm going to go with that. I'm not happy that its not bluetooth, but I'm probably going to buy an external monitor soon, as well as an Apple keyboard, which will give me more USB ports anyways.

I bought one when it first came out.

I think the scroll ball is really great. The ergonomics were not that good, but I don't need a mouse requiring you to actually rest on it - I kind of just lightly grab it and move it, so it works for me.

I like the design of it though.

My only major gripe is that the scroll ball gets dirty and sticks, with no good way of cleaning it.

But mostly, I prefer the trackpad. Gestures make it amazing. They should probably have a trackpad for a desktop, multitouch capable.
