I'll wait until people start receiving their iPhone 6 models from T-Mobile to tell everyone else if they are unlocked or not. Once that is confirmed, then I'll place my order. Until then, I can hold off since my 5s will suffice for now.

T-Mobile phones are UNLOCKED. I don't know why people keep having this discussion.

I ordered my T-Mobile 5S last year and it was definietly unlocked. My AT&T SIM worked right out the box, as did various international carriers. I've had my 5S with me in Tokyo, Dubai, and London and each time I had no problems plugging in a SIM and getting service.

I talked to a tmobile rep. He told me the phone I purchased from apple.com at full price is locked to tmobile however, if you put $100 on your phones sim card wit tmobile you can have it unlocked the same day.

At least in case it is locked, there are still ways :)

Hi Pivoh, how are you?

Could you explain to me how put this value ($100) on sim card? Because I am not living in USA and I don't know how this process works.

When I receive the phone the sim card come Activate with a some number? Or I need go to T-mobile store and ask to activate and put this value?

Any iPhone you buy direct from Apple at full price is unlocked. For iPhone 6 pre-orders, that's the T-Mobile version.

My current iPhone 5 was bought 2 years ago as the ATT version. I paid full price for it, so all I needed to do according to the guy in the store, was restore it using iTunes and I got the "Congrats your iPhone is unlocked" message.

Worked like a charm.

To be safe, don't power it on with the SIM Card in it, and do a restore in iTunes. I bet you won't have to and it'll be unlocked out of the box.

I'm confident enough I ordered the T-Mobile 64GB gray at 11:20AM this morning for use with my ATT account.

To summarize last year the Tmobile were unlocked.

Apple website had them listed as contract free (without the words unlocked) but they all came factory unlocked

Exactly. Don't listen to people. Look at data in front of you. 99% sure they will be unlocked unless there is something besides carrier policy that can lock these phones. Those who are analyzing the web requests are right. See mine:

Hi Slybit,

To confirm the process that you suggested:
a) Before turn on first time, Remove T-mobile
b) Plug on Computer/iTunes (USB)
c) Phone will start automatic
d) Do full restore
e) Insert any other sim card (no T-mobile)

Is right?

And this another way can be done?

c) Activate with sim card (no t-mobile)
d) plug on computer
d) do full restore

I believe he also asked 6 different Apple reps. Emailed Tim Cook. Posted to the macrumors several times as well. Perhaps you don't have to follow all those steps, but YMMV.

You forgot the seance with Steve Jobs. ;)

Beating a dead horse comes to mind...

LOL. This horse is indeed pretty dead.

I don't remember the exact steps because it was a few years ago, but this KB article tells you the process. Skip the first part about contacting your carrier...

Again, you most likely will not need to do any of this...

As I said before, I bought it, I'll try it, and if it doesn't work I'll return it. Chats with T-mobile and Apple reps are totally fruitless. I'll try it when I get it and if it works, I'll post it here, same if it doesn't. If you are so afraid of it not working, I'd advise you to wait. I personally am going with the odds.

I bought it this morning too. It was still available at 11:20AM surprisingly.

64GB space gray iPhone 6. Should be here on launch day.

Yes, I have one At&T pre-paid, 1 prepaid Brazilian Carrier (TIM) and 1 postpaid Brazilian Carrier (Claro), this last one is that I use diary in Brazil.

Is there some good soul here that could help me case I need talk with T-mobile? Because my english isn't fluent to talk them with. :(

What questions do you have for T-Mobile?

okay. it's seriously this simple- the t-mobile full price iPhone 6 from the Apple Store WILL BE UNLOCKED. You do not need to call T-Mobile. Out of the box it will accept ANY GSM sim. We all understand Apple later sells the 'unlocked' version in the store, but the T-Mobile full price one is the SAME THING. Buy away, if you need an unlocked iPhone on release day.

This is correct. If you buy a full price phone from Apple (online for T-Mobile, or in an Apple Store for AT&T or T-Mobile) it will be unlocked, despite there not officially being an unlocked version available at launch.
I bought my AT&T 5S from an Apple Store on launch day last year and paid full price. They hand you a phone in a box, you pay, and walk out of the store. After popping in my SIM and connecting to iTunes for the first time the first page you get is "Congratulations, your iPhone is now unlocked".

Take out the T-Mobile SIM that comes with it and put in your AT&T SIM. Then activate the phone. That's it.

ok i ordered the t-mobile phone just incase. i have att as well. once i put my att sim in it i will get my att service along with lte and everything?

Well... Got the correct answer from reps :)

So I *think* I was just able to place a JUMP order via the phone?

I spoke to a woman in the Philippines who was fairly confused. I ordered the iPhone 6 64GB space grey and she told me the phone was backordered for ‘several weeks’, but who knows if that is accurate.

I chose next-day shipping for $24.95. At the end of the call I asked her how I should return my old phone and she says ‘oh, you want to return your phone’? I’d be happy to keep my iPhone 5s but I’m pretty sure that’s the deal with the JUMP program (I have less than 1/2 of the EIP remaining on this phone). She made an offhand comment that I could just take it to a T-Mobile store after the new phone arrives.

Anyone know how they handle return of the old phone when you place a JUMP order over the phone?

Wait, so isn't it better to use the Verizon link instead of the T-mobile (if paying full price) on check out? Since when we if we resale, there will be more options or in case of changing carriers??

Not if you're using Apple's website. If you want an unlocked phone AND you want to purchase it outright AND you want to buy it through Apple's online store, your only option is the T-Mobile phone.

i also want it to be unlocked

i do it directly from apple.com i would use it overseas (iphone 6) i hope its unlocked. but unlocked out of the box

It is Unlocked

This was today around 10 AM
