I'm hoping they make a move to some new standard of RAM chip sizings for ultra-thin laptops. RAM soldered on the logic board is truly lame. That's the one downside of the rMBP, especially as it's a Pro machine. It's more of an appliance than a computer.

When do you think it'll be available?

Well, Haswell has had some delays, so I think it should be available by July-August. Maybe it will say, "Ships in 4-8 weeks," although that sounds pretty bad.

Looks like my prediction is going to happen

No, it's not. Just because some unknown analyst says that it's going to be thinner, doesn't make it reality. Apple has never released a brand new design and then changed the physical layout in less than 12 months. The internals might get upgraded but there is no way the case is going to be revised this soon.

Well, it doesn't make sense to me either. And I don't think Apple will go out of its way retooling production to shed .04 inches from it just to match the MBP15 like some here are saying. (I can't even see .04 inches.) But any thinner they're encroaching on the dimensions of the MBA albeit no taper.

Then again, this is Apple. It wouldn't be a formal event unless they could squeeze in the word "thinner" multiple times throughout the WWDC presentation.

Apple has never released a brand new design and then changed the physical layout in less than 12 months.
But their stock has never taken a nose dive like it recently has in this time frame. I suspect we'll see Apple hazardously "shoot from the hip" from time to time if only to appease shareholders. (Yes, Cook says otherwise but that's BS).

Personally I am at the opposite end of the spectrum, I don't want thinner, I want; greater functionality, multiple SSD`s, more build options, longer battery runtime, an optical drive, greater robustness, more ports. The "Thin" thing is great for the consumer, however it`s killed off the Mac as a serious contender for many professionals...

Actually, no. You weren't right in the traditional sense. You were predicting a re-design and all that just 1 year after. This will just make the 13-inch slightly thinner to match it with the 15.

Hardly a re-design at all. Apple would never change the case completely after 1 year anyway.

Nope

I was saying same design but thinner. Not a complete overhaul.

But how can you achieve this without overhauling the design? Especially in the case of the rMBP where the internals are already so bunched together.

Exactly. Anyone think they made the new 13" and said "we can leave a little empty space in here and then take it out in a revision in 8 months"? Be real. They have never, ever, updated a case design this fast. There's no extra room without a redesign or the removal of a lot of parts.

what if...

(Just for ha,has) we believe they will make it thinner (lighter), then it will become the rMBA a lot of people are dreaming of. With haswell comes less battery consumption, then we fit a smaller battery to make the machine fit in a thinner case (MBA's)... that would be possible (or doable). Then I think MBA will stay as is w/o Haswell...:confused::confused::confused:
