I've been using my iPad for two years with no case or sleeve or anything and it's fine. I don't see why people insist on babying their iPads, waste of money.

In the past, I've always found that wrapping up an iPhone or an iPad like a mummy in a sarcophagus a) gives me bulk/weight and makes me unhappy, b) ultimately makes my buyer on Craigslist happy.

I'm going naked this time. I'm tired of keeping devices pristine for the person who winds up with it next.

purchased a smart cover, not sure how often i'll use it, but i have a sleeve/zip-up case thing i'll leave it in overnight or if I'm putting it in my bag, I'm also considering a case with built in keyboard for if i want to do some proper typing on the thing. But for the most part i'll use it naked.

The way i see it, you have a case because you want to keep it looking nice, but it's covered up with a case so you can't see how nice it looks anyway...

I'd like to know the answer to this question as well. Zagg products are expensive. Are they really worth it?

No, they're not worth it. Unless you like covering up your iproduct with $40 cling wrap. They make your device look cheap and the edges get dirty in a few months time, trapping all that dirt and dust. Then you'll take it off and wonder why you had it on in the first place.

Nice to know.

I liked my burlwood decal on the back of my unit, as it made it less likely to scratch when setting it down. I threw away the decal that came for the front bezel, as it made it look cheap and trapped lint. I *may* go naked on the new one, with just a microfiber slipcase.

For my all my iPods and most recently my iPhone, I've put on a Zagg Invisible Sheild, and then I put my device in a Waterfield Swede sleeve when in my pocket.

Not sure if I'm going to do the Invisible Shield for my new iPad, but I am DEFINITELY getting a sleeve for it. I've found this is the best way to show off the device's excellent design while still protecting and not adding bulkiness or weight.

Smart Cover, and sometimes with sleeve, on the go
Naked iPad sits on stand on my desk
Nothing else

It's in my nature that I take a good care of any possessions, not limited to iPad. I like Smart Cover because it is a lightweight stand that folds with minimum bulk. A stand on desk is for ergonomics.

Not to mention the aesthetics of Apple products. No way I'm covering them up with third-party crap while using. ;)

Yep, just a slip case for me... I deplore the cases that add bulk to the iPad ... Naked in my hands feels far better... ;)

That's what she said. (forgive me, i HAD to) :D

I bought a felt sleeve that should fit my iPad with a smart cover, but I may find myself using just the iPad without the smart cover. The only real benefit I see to the smart cover is when you flip it open, it will protect the back when you set it down. I have no interest in shell cases adding bulk, or skins, as all that I've seen look silly. Though, I suppose I could always just set the iPad down on the felt sleeve. Who knows...?

After buying a few expensive cases, I am now currently using the Incase Origami sleeve. It is a sleeve and stand in one. ;)

However, if someone could make a sturdy one out of leather, I would be there in a heartbeat. In a professional field, the neoprene doesn't always scream professional. Just my opinion.

Is there anyone who's going to use the iPad naked with only a sleeve? No smart cover, no case, no stand, no screen protector, just using it naked with only a sleeve to protect it.

If there's anyone who's currently using this setup, do you wish you had a stand to prop your iPad up on when typing, or do you just hold the naked iPad in your hand?

Had 1st gen since launch like this, only time I have used a sleeve is when its in a suitcase. Not a mark on the screen, bezel a bit scuffed in places where its been dropped etc :D

Yep. No need for anything else unless you are exceptionally clumsy. No need for a screen protector either since you don't carry it in your pocket. I just use the Waterfield slip case for casual transportation and their ultimate sleeve case for extended travel. Sold my iPad 2 and it didn't have a scratch on it.

i want a sleeve, i had an elan sleeve for my ipad 1 but griffin arnt doing a new elan sleeve for this ipad, anyone got a good one anywhere ?

I have no idea... this question is what makes me think I should just stick with an iPad 2 for now... I hate having to put a case on the iPad's, other than the smart cover thing, which i think is amazing!

I'm thinking I'm just going to get a zagg skin (or something like it) for the back, and just use the smart cover on the front. I don't like the feel of the screen protector, but I do like the idea of added grip on the back...

I have an iPad 1 that I use primarily now, and don't use any cover with it, and I love it! I just don't want to damage my 3!

(thats right, I called it a 3, and soon enough you all will too!)

Edit: I also really like the idea of the Booq pad ( I think thats what its called...) but I really like to hold the iPad... I don't know! And it's driving me nuts!

Plan on getting a sleeve like the incase Maki so I can prop it up, etc. but otherwise keeping mine naked, just like my iPhones.

I used my 2 intensively both at work and home activities. I like to travel with my handbag, along with other stationary. I like to keep my handbag as smallest as possible but always want to keep it handy.

I use the smart cover, others than to offer better grip for reading in some cases, but also love the leather touch when you hold it covered. Make it less slippery in my hand.
Use also thin cover at the back to avoid scratches. I'm not using sleeve, since I like to slip it directly to my bag.

This combination suit my habit. Just take it from my bag and use it. Close the cover and directly slip inside the bag, ready to go...

At home my iPads are nude... out (which they rarely go) they have a smart cover and back snap. And i HATE putting the covers or cases on them... it's such a beautiful design and feels great in hand... covers just ruin the design. It's sad how many beautifully designed Apple products are purchased and then from day one live cased and skinned and covered and remain that way.

Apple should make an economic series of refurbished, scratched, mixed colored parts-bin models of their products that have new internals... and they could sell them for a little bit less. With the majority of people never using their devices naked... this could work :D

Just a SPG screen shield and phantomskinz for the back. That setup has worked years for me and always worked out well for me.

I use the combo of a Belkin two pocket slip cover and a thin TPU case, the incipio ngp. I figure the last part provides enough drop protection without annoying me with bulk

I don't like cases for apple products....ever. The smart cover for iPad and bumper for iPhone were both protective, functional, but also minimal.

Apple designed these products to be a mix of function AND form. I am not going to f$&k that up by placing it in a case. It destroys one of my favorite things about apple products; they are works of art.

Seriously, I cringe at even the thought of putting the iPad into one of those leather portfolio cases.....I literally cringe......

I also hate screen protectors and invisi-shields. Absolutely hate them. Smart cover and a sleeve for transport is as far as I'll go.

I used the official case with my original iPad for about a year - took it off and never looked back. I did get very one small scratch on the front and a little buffing on the back, but I think my user experience was much better in general without the extra flappy case bits. Obviously pop it in a sleeve for protection if going out but mine rarely left the house- I have a mobile for mobile. :apple:
