If there would be a supposedly updated line of MBPs coming up, wouldn't the Apple website already be slow and less communicative to update it by now? Or would this happen like 2 hours or so before the actual release?

I hope tomorrow is not the day because I'm have so much fun with you guys waiting. If Apple puts us out of our misery, then what are we gonna do?

Even if the new Macbook Pro looks something like the Macbook Air but a little thicker and yet thinner than current Macbook Pro. That would be cool. :D Though I don't like the black keyboard on silver.

Like this Mockup:

I do like that mock up as well, but two things:

First, i think that the edge on the bottom looks a little "sharp" for a lack of better word... I mean on the current MBP that edge is ever so slightly beveled and it's made of plastic... a 90 degree edge like made out of aluminum cant feel good on the palms when typing with big hands like mine

Second, theres no magnetic latch which i would really like.

Dont get me wrong, i would be stoked if the new MBP looked like that, just my .02

There is definitely an update coming pretty much RFN.

I'd bet good money that it will be tomorrow.

You want to know why? I was in Future Shop the other day (this is in Canada) and:

1) They've nearly run out of units in their supply chain.
2) Best Buy is out of units, at least locally.

More than that, the CSR showed me his screen - the units they have now, they're selling for BELOW THEIR COST. Which makes sense.

Here's why.

First of all, I think that the odds of a minor price cut on the MacBook Pro is pretty good this time around anyways. That price is just too high when compared to other high-end laptops, as we've been hearing (hence threads talking about the price of a Dell XPS or a ThinkPad in comparison).

Indeed, I don't see how Apple can sustain a $2000 pricetag for a system whose components can't cost much more than $1000.

Second, in Canada, the dollar has changed quite a bit since the last MBP's were shipped. Expect no more than a 5% price premium for the new units - which means epic cuts for the last-gen units.

(IE, Apple seems to sell last-gen Pro's for $1499 refurb'd. They list the same models for $1800ish in Canada. The MSRP of the current MacBook Pro is $2199.99 in Canada versus $1999.99 in the US).

Configuring alternatives to the present MacBook Pro's, for example:

The T61 ThinkPad - my personal favourite PC.

For $1553, you could put together a set-up wtih the same processor as the Pro, the same RAM, hard drive, discrete graphics, etc - and, in reality, you could produce a much better system more economically than that by not buying IBM's overpriced upgrades.

For $1700, you could configure the same system with the 2.4 Ghz Processor, 4 Gigs of Ram, and a 7200 rpm hard drive. Oh, and a WSXGA+ screen.

For $1449 you could configure the XPS 1330 at the same specs as the Pro (better video card, actually).

That's just too big a gap. Either the new Pro's need a big hardware boost, or a notable price cut. Especially if there's a recession.

I posted this in the "official" night/day before thread, but might as well repeat it here:

keep in mind that presumably the new MBP's would need 10.5.2 preinstalled.

So, has Apple has been sitting on a finished 10.5.2 for a week or two while getting the new MBPs with 10.5.2 into the retail channel? I sure hope so. Otherwise, it's probably going to be at least another week...

It might also be a shipping in 48hrs scenario instead of immediate availability, they don't do this often though.

As I understand it, 10.5.1 doesn't have the right computer name, so its not like they will ship with 10.5.1 and you can upgrade at home.

Lets hope.

I'm sorry I just don't see the update coming out tomorrow. I'm putting my chips on that iPhone SDK/Professional event rumored to be later this month.

But why put all the eggs in one basket? Spread things out by a week and you're in the news 2x longer...

Hey all first time poster!
I've been reading these forums for at least the last year and a half and finally decided to register.

Anyway I was wondering if they release the MBP tomorrow will there potentially be options at the store or do the stores only carry the base version of the 3 models? What I'm getting at is I'd want the middle of the road 15.4" MBP but with the 200GB 7200 HD and would like to have to before I go out of town this weekend.

Thoughts?

Just a quick question for you guys.
What time does the Apple store usually down? And how long does it usually down for?

Please give the answer in the Pacific Standard Time and we can calculate ourselves then.

I don't think so and to be honest I am kindof hoping they don't. An update tomorrow would likely be a silent update with not a lot of updated features. I think if they are going to update anything beyond the processor we will see an update along with an iPhone SDK event on the 26th.

A few other thoughts...
I saw the MBA in the apple store this weekend and I will go on record saying I really like the keyboard and multitouch mouse pad. Additionally the magnetic latch is so much better then the previous version. If they update all these things on the MBP along with the new intel processors it will be a good update!

WHAT DO YOU MEAN? WE WAITED LONG ENOUGH, 6 MONTHS AND MORE...... WOW

Sure, you have a great point. But I think they'll also get more exposure in the iPhone/Professional event than a "silent" update (read: press release). I think Apple knows that too.

This guy knows what he's talking about. The rest of you all keep saying how Macbook Pro's are coming soon, and yet your putting negative thoughts on it right now such as "It won't come tomorrow"....... dudes, leapord update just released, and I checked store stock at Apple Store in YORKDALE mall today and they were all out, same goes for Futureshop/Bestbuy.
