If you are talking about the front glass side, yes it's scratchless it seems.

However, the back side of iPad I find that it can be scratched easily. Already saw some scratch marks. After I begin to use a cover for iPad, the problem now does not persist :D

No scratches...no dents.

I got mine on the wifi release date and my Apple Case came a week later...hasn't left it since.

I have the 2G iphone and it never left the Incase holster since I got it years ago. No scratches except on corners where holster doesn't cover...but the glass (with no screen protector) has zero defects.

YMMV...

I took my iPad out of its case to clean it and set it down on some old magazines sitting on the coffee table. It turns out, the magazines had some gritty dust on them that I didn't see (thanks NYC pollution) and so the plastic black Apple has the tiniest mark on it when viewed under certain light. You really, really have to look for it though. A sane person would look at it and not see a scratch.

I have yet to own an Apple product that doesn't scratch whether its in a case or not. More scratches occur without a case of course, but all it takes is some dust or sand working its way into your case to leave a mark. It's inevitable.

I have a scratch on my screen. It is invisible when the thing is on, but I know it's there. I have had it in the Apple Case since day one and never take it out.

I also baby the thing. Like i said, unless in certain lighting conditions, you can't see it.

I tried to take it to the Apple Store, but they refused to replace. Oh well, I'm over it now. Its not noticeable when the iPad is on.

Not a scratch, even on the plastic Apple logo.

It's usually in the InCase sleeve or used while resting on top of it though.

I put on a screen protector and put it in a case before even turning it on the first time, so yes..its still perfect

No protector, no scratches. I dont think I baby the stuff I own, but then again I'm not the type that completely scratches up CDs with general use, either -- I've known some people like that (lend them a CD and it comes back like they ran over it on asphalt), and wonder if it's those kind of people that are having these supposed problems.

No case, no screen protector, no scratches, no dents, no wi fi issues, no issues whatsoever.

I love this thing :)

Dang it, just noticed a little itty bitty tiny ensii weensi scratch on my screen that I have to clean the screen to see. I'm not mad. It's just that when u get the first dent or scratch on any apple product, the device just seems dirty for some reason afterwards. But I'm good.

I have one small scratch on the top that is about 1/2 inch long. No idea how it got there since I am meticulous about my stuff. I clean my iPad each day with screen cleaner. I refuse to buy a screen cover though since they all look awful.

I have a couple very small scratches.

It lives in an Apple Case, but I use the thing A LOT so I am not surprisd about the scratches I guess.

Anyway, they are totally invisible with it on so no big deal. I don't use a screen protector.

I love the feel of the naked glass against my finger tips :)

Exactly. Apple products are so simple and elegant that anything foreign (scratches, dents, etc.) detract far more than they would on other items.

Dell computers can have scratches right out of the box I don't look twice.

Slightest imperfection with the backlighting on a macbook pro? Slightly out-of-alignment lid on macbook? Crazy time.

Power Support.

I am using it without a screen protector and its inside a case,
no scratches on the display and back surface so far

Somehow I got a fairly deep 1" scratch on the glass  It's always in either the apple case or the incase sleeve. The only way I can imagine it happening is if something got onto my cleaning cloth.

Apple iPad case + Microfiber cloth = mint condition

if you scratch it, i will cut you.

Mine is still pristine after over a month. It has spent a grand total of 5 minutes outside of it's incase silicone case, and I've had a screen protector on it since a week after buying (had to wait for it to ship to me.)

I also carry it in a targus iPad bag whenever I take it out of the house or away from the office to protect it even more...

Flawless, the iPad's naked at home, but if it leaves the house it's in its Apple case or at the very least a sleeve in situations like a library.

Mine is completely scratch free.

From day one I put on a case and also an invisibleshield on it. I plan on reselling it a month or two before the new ipad comes out and hold on to the money....for the new iPad which immure would have the retina display.
lol, another gullible customer falling to nonsensical pronouns.

im curious as to what you think the "retina display" means.

OK, I couldn't resist. I just pulled off my Apple case to check and mine is pristine. Not a scratch, dent, speck of dust, fingernail clipping or Jimmy Hoffa.
