funny story....

i scratched my ipad....went to bed...i heard rustling at night...i woke up and the ipads screen was lit.....the scratch was gone.....

right.....its just a story.....

I don't understand how you would scratch the iPad's screen unless you put it upside down all the time (the glass screen facing whatever surface you put it on), or you put stuff on top of it. If you do those things to your iPad, then you deserve the scratched screen.

Mine was naked the first week when I noticed an inch long surface scratch above the apple. Since then its been in a cheapo silicon case that protects the back and edges. I bought it mainly to keep it prettier for resale only as I know I'll upgrade when the next model comes out. But now I like the silicon as it kinda makes it easier to hold.
No scratches on the screen but I know it will happen. My iPhone 3G was flawless for six months completely naked and then all the sudden had several minor screen scratches......knocking on wood...

As far as I can tell, it's still scratch-free. I'll probably continue to baby it until it gets its first scratch, then I'll stop worrying about it. (Apple should just ship them with one scratch, it would save me some time.)

Nope, found my first scratch on the screen two days ago...

I had quite a few on my screen and have since gotten a replacement.

Had Best Buy install the InvisibleShield (which they botched and I'll need to get them to re-do) and I refuse to let that happen again.

As must as the screen is more "tacky", the payoff is worth it. No constant cleaning of the screen and the knowledge that even though there seems to be enough sand throughout my house to build a frickin' sand castle (stupid back yard improvements are far from complete), I know that it won't again cause damage to my baby.

If you're not near sand/grit, I think you'll be fine. If you are near it, be forewarned that although a big old scratch from a key won't hurt it, a small grain of sand wiped across with a microfiber cloth will make it cry like a baby.

I use the Apple Case. iPad is still scratchless.

Mine is still scratchless and I use the Apple case.

I have the Apple case as well, and mine is still perfect, also - however, scratch and dent protection never entered my mind when I bought the case. I wanted it for the three-way iPad positioning and ease of typing on a slant. Scratch and dent protection, for me anyway, is a bonus.

I bought it for the ability to stand the iPad different ways, too. Just that I also was concerned about leaving any large screen (which which I move often, and/or place in different positions) open to any random if not rare thing that can damage it. Then again, I'm that way with all portable devices. But since the iPad has such large screen real-estate, I want to have it covered when not in use.

I've got a very small scratch on the screen but I only noticed it when I had it int he sun and was cleaning the screen. Can't see it with the screen on.

I'm not one to wrap thing in cotton wool. It isn't to say I don't take care of them, I do... but I also like it use them and when something like the iPad is used by four people in my house it's going to pick up marks but I think they add to it's character ;).

bought mine just after wifi release in US

still scratch free

still lovin the Piel Frama case

cheers

Mine is new and mostly scratch less. One on the bezel, nothing you can see without being as ocd as I am about these

NO scratches or dents so far.
Got it the first day and it goes out with me in my book bag each day
no case or no covers on the shield.

Hell no. I just found two scratches in the middle of the screen. Sucks but oh well. In the end it's just a "toy".

I have had mine since the day they were released in Canada and it still looks like I just pulled it out of the box. I have the Apple case for it (the feltish one that everyone complains about being too hard to put the ipad into), and the dock for it. I got a screen protector for it (my iphone 3g as well) and other than the little bubbles from the protector, the device is shiny and new. I tend to take care of all my gadgets though.

Books that I have owned and read for ten years (and read them over and over) still look like I just got them off the shelf at Barnes & Noble. Of course, I probably have OCD though too, so.....:D
