A little bit of braggin' :D

Top 500, woohoo. I am back to school and was browsing around, catching up on mails and the like and checked my stats, 492 currently. Great news considering all I had this weekend was my parents system I 'borrowed' before I left town for the holiday weekend, since when I arrived back to my apt. my desktop had spilt compu-guts all over and was stuck :( Could have had more I suppose, but that is still pretty neat to me :)

Bwahahah! I made it into the top 100 today! Welcome to the first page, me!

Congratulations both of you.

Looks like I have to start watching my back...

Ha, well from the looks of it I would be more concerned with mrgreen4242 than me. I am more creeping along, and still have over 400 more to get to mrgreen's place, let alone wherever you are ;)

since this is the bragging thread...

i'm now #2 on the team :)

And the number one producer. Just wondering how many computers would i need to add to catch up? :D How many computers are you running?

well...

32 dimension 4700 (p4 3.something ghz w/ HT)
dual 1.8ghz g5
some dell optiplex gx150 (P3 1Ghz)
2 optiplex gxa (PII 333Mhz)
2 dimension 3000 (p4 3.something ghz w/ HT)

so the total is over 40 machines. and i have another 40 or 50 working on rc5. so unless u had access to a lab or something ur not gonna have any chance

Well.....I am highly involved in my schools computers, so that is 75 computers. But they are slower machines, so i would need to do the math. Maybe i should talk to the IT head..rolleyesrolleyes:

edit: ok i did the math it looks like i only have about 70 ghz. Rats. But maybe i should look into getting those going... And you have about 115 ghz. Do windows experience slow down when running folding? As they are not very good at multitasking.

that's impressive!

yeah i was the IT head so it was okay.

but im not working at the lab anymore, so if u start now theres a good chance u and some other ppl on this team will catch up in the distant future

folding from my experience doesnt slow a machine down any. and ive run it on 100s of machines. the only time it is bad is if ur doing high bandwith stuff like video processing, then it might slow encode times down by a few mins. but for general stuff like web browsing and email reading, it's completely transparent

Does anyone know about machines around 500mhz? Because they lack ram already....

i would just put it on a machine to test it, if u have admin privs. if the machines are this slow my guess would be ppl arent doing anything high-end on them anyways. there's also an option to adjust the cpu utilization (1-100%) if things get too slow

windows xp is gonna be slow on a 500mhz box with 128-256RAM anyways. 2K does a lot better on slower machines with small memory.

400

My Pismo folds at 400mHz! Granted, it takes him about a month to get through a WU, but he works his little heart out!

:)

Broke 3000

Woohoo - my little army of 6 Macs and 2 IBMs has broken into the Top 3000 teams! Only 1000 more teams to pass before I can join all of you on the Competitive Folders site!!!

No problem. At this point I just seem to be at a stagnant place on the listings.

How did your liver surgery turn out? My concern is more for you in that regard. ;)

I am finally back home and have since fixed my pc so I can once again fold :)

I still cannot figure out why the PB is non-compliant, but for the time being at least one system is crunching proteins for me. Back to climbing the ladder....see some of you, at some point, sometime, maybe

Well I lost 70% of it but what's left seems to be functioning OK. I go back to Boston on the 16th of Oct for another MRI and then see the surgeon the following day. I think I may have pushed myself a little too much though, I'm really sore inside kinda like when you go to the dentist and nothing hurts until the Novocain wears off :(

I'm just thankful to have a chance at living for a while longer  I appreciate the interest.

PS I'm up to #171 now. Looks like the higher we get the harder it is to climb. but hey, I'm here to do it.
