Sparky, I'm waiting for you in the top 100!

Just like that little train that could, I'll be there ;)

We just got in our new Xserve for the office and my DTP dept. Its a G5 with dual 500gb mirrored drives and 4gb of RAM. What I'd give to be able to put Folding on that machine :D OH what am I saying...I'm the department manager, of course I can

I may be seeing the top 100 sooner than next year!!

2 more systems back online folding

Well it is Fall again, and the room that my computers are in (my Bedroom) was starting to get cold. I stopped folding on the G5 and G4 because of Heat issues and me being afraid of hardware issues, or killing my G5.

I am now folding again on the Dual G5, and on my G4 B&W. Since it is such a small room and the computers (and monitors) put out so many BTU's of heat, I don't have the heat vent open in that room, and now keep the house temp set at 60F! My bedroom tends to stay at 75 - 80 during the winter while I am folding, and I actually have to open the window!

Folding keeps my room warm (well mostly the G5) and saves me on Natural Gas costs! Looks like that will be nice this year, as the prices for that are going up quite high!

Yay fun!

Well, my G5 is back on a time clock and not folding 24/7, because of the bill of the powercompany. Although I have used less then last year, prices has gone up by about 10%... That's a demotivator to fold 24/7! Stupid money making private company!!

Damn that sucks. I probably wouldn't even think of folding as being a cause for higher power consumption, but now that you mention it I completely see it :(

Anyone know if the new PMs fold that much faster than the old PMs? I'm curious how those new dual-core chips are compared to the dual-chip single-cores of old. Then there is that new quad :D I'm debating ordering one of those right now and financing it....they finally got the 7800GT card available which is what I really wanted as an option :)

Edit: I actually switched someone over to folding the other day, a fellow MR member who was asking about it per my mention of my uses for my PC :p

Go me, I'm proud

You go efoto! Convert those mindless dromes! :D Also, when you order that quad, and install folding on it (BTW, mc68k: you really need to work on an update of your script, it's time for a new version, dual dual folding!), put Dreadnought in it, that would probably make up my stats for my "power saving, time clocked dual G5". LOL :D

I wouldn't say mindless....plus he might venture into this thread at some point, so I have to be careful *duck* :)

Well that quad won't be coming anytime soon I fear. I made the personal-executive decision to switch some other hardware first (see sig ;) ) and that is proving more expensive than previously anticipated :( Oh, and when/if I do get that quad, there is a single name that will be typed everywhere, including f@h, and I assure you it isn't 'Dreadnought' :p

Let us know when you do get it and post some folding stats of that monster (time to finish a tinker or something). Then I know when to let my special app (the kind that changes some configs) lose! :D

OK foks, after weeks of waiting I finally got the new Dual 2.4 G5 XServe up and running and have permission to install foding on it. I use "Increase" on all my other G3's and the Dell but I forgot where to get it and if I can use it on the dual machine.

Any help here?

PS I'm now up to 150 on the list and climbing :D

can't wait to get this Xserve crunching:cool:

OK, found it but still don't know if I can use it on the dual Xserve......

That Quad won't be coming anytime soon sadly :(, I can't justify the increased price over the dual-core 2.3. I decided to attempt to switch camera systems and that is proving an expensive decision, so funds are tighter than I had anticipated, so the dc2.3 might be my best bet....and hopefully a 7800GT with it if I can convince the rents of an early-christmas gift :p That would be their only hand in it sadly, I wish we were rich

I install F@H onto the Macs at work (CompUSA) that are wirelessly enabled. Hell, they just sit there all day doing nothing anyway. So far it's only a Dual 2.7Ghz G5 and a 20" iMac G5, but better than nothing.

I'd put it on the iBooks, too, but we're virtually out of stock right now. All we have is the one demo iMac, one 14" demo iBook, a demo Mac Mini, and demo G5s (Old revision)

We have no new iBooks, Powerbooks, Mac Minis, or iMacs to speak of.

I would hate to purchase one of those demo models from CompUSA now knowing they have seen a rough shelf-life being burnt all the time :p I guess it proves their stability, but still, 100% cpu has to get old at some point

Just thought i'd let you guys now i now have earned MacRumors 101,145 points with 410 WU's.
Only a little month and i should be in the top 50 :D
/brag

My iBook now folds on command (start manually as to not kill battery power, or overheat). Just got the book this week to replace my 600MHz G3 (it didn't fold)

New to the group
ibook 1.2Ghz G4 :)

well I started again about 2.5 days ago and I've finished 6 WUs so far! :D I'm proud, and I plan on continuing this time. last time my G5 got really loud, and I got worried about power usage and system life, but now I'm only doing one WU at a time over 2 CPUs so the load is only about 60% most of the time, and I'm running in "Reduced" processor speed, so the heat is down, as is the power use. I'd like to still be doing 2 at a time, but I don't want to overload my machine. maybe I'll just get a second one ;)

woot!

Wow... this may be shortlived, but I seem to be having a good week. I'm currently averaging 610 points a day which puts me as the #17 producer on the team!! Call me stupid, but I'm really excited about this.

edit: I'm ranked #78 on the team too... gettin up there!

"Chuck Norris' tears cure cancer. Too bad he has never cried." :D

Booyah! I broke into the 200's, hoorah me! I'm slowly but surely gaining....mostly slowly since I'm not so sure on my pc setup :p
