What kind of Macs do you have? If you have any duals, have you looked at the dual script of mc68k? BTW, welcome to the team!

my main machine i like to call 'franken-mac' is started out as a sawtooth 350, but now lives in a aluminum Lian Li ATX case, 1.4ghz g4 sonnet upgrade, custom heatsinks, sata-raid, (600gb in raid 1), 2gb memory, modded ati 9200 card, gigabit lan, etc. it all started when my 'really expensive to replace' mac power supply died :)

have the script installed and running on a g5 dual 1.8, but only a few hours a day due to work. the rest are pc bits and pieces from old customer jobs. not much, but beats hiding them in the basement or throwing them away.

to bad the don't have an Irix release, as i have a few Octane's that would really dim the ligts:eek: (honey, i had to unplug the clothes dryer...)

thanks. happy to be here doing something useful with old hardware!

Something I noticed; I have my iMac G5 performance set for "High" and when I started folding the fans got unbearably loud. For awhile I didn't even fold because the noise was so annoying.
I didn't want to set my computer for "reduced" because that made everything else slow also.

Guess what! When I set it for "automatic" it keeps the folding running slow to keep my machine quiet, but when I start doing something else it kicks into high gear. It's the best of both worlds. :)

In the Console Text version, why is it that sometimes it shows work represented in steps, and sometimes in frames. (see examples below)

What am I not getting?

 10k. sneaking up... hope to get into the high 300's by tonight.

on a seperate note, why all the people with 0 wu's returned in forever?! install, fold, quit. why quit? active user numbers show like 13%... come on all you non-working folders, hit the go button. only like two months to move the team in 20th place. we'll show all those people with quiet computers! loud fans make computers go faster!!!

How does the timing work in terminal? I've noticed that the minutes are right, but the hour is never correct.

In the attached image, it shows [17:44:02] as the last time, but at that point it was 9:44 am.

...Or is that even the time?

Make that 135 days! And with a thousand points per day output, I don't make a change! GRRRRRRR  , this is another reason to stop upgrading my dual 1.8 and start saving for a quad core Intel! (it would also help to fold 24/7 again...)

Well, I guess it's only a matter of time before I pass! ;)
so you are gaining on me now. You weren’t earlier! Maybe I need to get some more machines going…. Speaking of which does anyway how to deploy folding at home via server 2003? As I run a network with 72 clients and I don't want to go machine to machine. This is what has stopped me from loading it. Any ideas?:)

Gotcha! :D
Folding on 72 clients would be terrific, but I have no idea how to do it.

i hit 2,000,000 points sometime in the last week

now for the next milestone...

holy hell! 72 machines.... tell you what, set up a network share, enable remote desktop/terminal services, and i will setup all the machines for you... :)

sneaking up on 30k tonight. should hit the 2,000,000 mark sometime in 2048 according to the EOC site

I know about the script for Macs that allows F@H to run automatically on boot up, but I was wondering if there was something similar for Windows that would automatically start it up in the background on every boot up? (Going to put it on my old 1Ghz Celeron)

Secondly, Intel Macs---do we have a F@H App for them yet? We got in an Intel iMac and Macbook Pro at work so I figure i'll dump 'em on those since they're on all day anyway.

there is a 'how to' next to the '504 beta' console version on the stanford download page, but in 20 words or less...

make a c:\fah folder, copy the fah504.exe (rename it when downloading) file to the folder, open a command window (start>run>command or cmd), change to the 'fah' folder (cd \, then cd fah)then issue the follow command 'fah504.exe -local -configonly' and this will start the client in the local folder and start the config questions. answer yes to the 'start as a service' question, set cpu usage, answer yes to the advanced question and fight your way through, it will exit at the end due to the -configonly flag. exit the command window, reboot windows, folding will be running in the background.

isn't windows fun? why doesn't everyone run windows i wonder

Hmmm, I might just hit the MR top 200 (Folding under the name powermac666) before 4JNA blows by me.:p
Looking to add a brand new Dell 3.2Ghz P4 to the mix this week, when it hits my desk at work. At least I'll still get to keep my iLamp, too.

no worries, you can have 200. i call dibs on 199... :)

just had one old machine folding 24/7 @ 100% blow several caps clear off the motherboard. oops. time for more fans and parts!

Hey everyone...never posted in this section of the forum before, but I have been folding since 2004. I am ranked number 150, so that's not bad.

Curious, does anyone know when there will be a version for Intel Macs? I am getting a MacBook Pro when I get back from spring break next week, and I want to take full advantage of the Core Duo that will be in it.

I will be increasing my output three fold!!!

Also, I am assuming that mroe RAM speeds things up? Is that true? Well, I know it generally speeds things up, but does it help folding?
