I am beginning to dream of what my future numbers might look like with my new life and living space might be like.

My new apartment is with all utilities included. So far I am planning on my eMac that has been the workhorse on the folding effort still churning away. I have my old XP box that has been sitting idle for the most part that I will setup up as a "blind" box. I am planning on a Mac mini as my home theater CPU. And then there is an XP laptop that I might press into service, if the "fan" noise is not as great when I did a test with my PB 12".

I do have dreams of a dual G5 to add for my speed tasks... :D but not sure price and noise wise that I can justify it.

Well let's see...I have my own 1GHz eMac here at home...

Then at school I have around 20 1.25Ghz Dual PMG4s, and about 20 500mhz Dual PM G4s.

Well my goal/dream is to get into the top 100. Based on what I have done so far I am just pleased to make it to the 166 mark.

Your little guys are welcome to join my little guys. I started my own team about a month ago to watch my two Macs compete against my work computers. (Yes, I have 3 computers total at my workstation - I need them all - I swear!). You'll easily be able to pass up my Pismo and the Dell laptop, so it's not like you'd be behind.

Right now, we're at 5556 place as a team. (My goal has been to be in the top 5000.)

If you like, we (my computers and I) are 42668 - and we live at www.xmoose.net, which doesn't have much to it just yet.

Just don't laugh at my Pismo as you pass him. His ego is already a bit bruised now that he's a stay-at-home machine. :)

Macrumors team or not, any folding computers are good for the cause.. I may take you up on your offer after I finish my current work units.. I owe it to Macrumors after it's members helped me out with some technical questions on building my G4 Digital Audio.

I just added the Dual 533 to the Macrumors Folding team (along with my other computers) to thank them for the help.

That is awesome!!

As long as you are not violating the Macrumors rules in regards to installing the clients.

I wish I could use all the computers at my work for Folding@home :)

What noise? I don't even here my dual and it's folding 24/7!

hmm.. I need to turn down my Processors or something. My fans are at medium/low speed during folding. Granted this makes it about the same volume of noise my Pentium 450 computer just sitting idle, but it would be nice to have the G5 be a touch quieter. Granted the sound is quite relaxing in all honesty, I like a little White noise :)

I dream about running the New Media (my major) department's computers for Seti...We have 4 dual 2.0 ghz PM and 4 dual 2.5 ghz PM...along with various G4 PMs and a couple iMacs...In total it something like the duals I mention plus 80-100 G4 PMs/iMacs with between 700-1ghz of CPU. Right now all I have running Seti is my 12" rev a PB...and I only run it here and there because it heats up...and its my main machine, I can't have it breaking on me.

Hey, speaking of which - being someone who hangs around MacRumors (and the beautiful people here), I thought that anyone who had any kind of a relationship with their computer knew about folding.

I've been trying to get my IT guys into it (their personal machines first - hoping they'll enjoy it and get the lab machines going), but they've never heard of F@H and are completely 100% freaked out about the possibility for virus transmission, etc. (They let me use the machines at my workstation because they know I know enough to take care of myself, but that's it.)

I guess when you have 80 windows machines to keep up, you get paranoid, but what's the best way to convince them to join the cause? (Keeping in mind that I already walk a fine line being the only Mac user in the place.)

:)

I have tried that at my work, but the IT department didn't liked it... They don't want to know anything about an app that isn't standard, so they don't have to support it. Windoos guys...

I am a network engineer at a company that has over 700 servers (about 600 more in colo)

I would wonder what numbers we would get if I installed Folding on some of those servers :)

Anyway, the Pegged CPU's would throw our Monitoring software into a tailspin, and the data center would be WAY too hot to do it, even with redundant glycol, and multiple 10 ton AC units running at full capacity.

I might ask the Apple rep at my local CompUSA if I could put F@H on the Macs there that have access to the net. They're on all day anyways.

dude you'll go by so fast I'll never see ya! Spark and I have been neck and neck awhile, I have more processors he has better ones, it may be a good reason for me to buy 10 dual 2.5's!

Keep it up, and find someone to join us.

I can see how you compare your post with dumb & dumber, with that look-a-like picture you don't even have to mention dumb & dumber!
:D (NO OFFENSE INTENDED!! Couldn't resist myself :p )

Stu, what happened to you?!!!! One too many trips to the plastic surgeon? (Talking about your 'Tar)

I guess I'm in a transitional phase. Between getting handed my lunch by sparkleytone and desires for a dual G5, and a minimalist no makeup existance. :p
