OP - sorry to hear about your hassles. Every product can be damaged - the question is how much force is needed and whether that is the sort of force which can reasonably be expected from every day use.

I hope that Apple do the right thing for you.

OP, you and I have very similar stories. I never thought my phone would actually bend through normal use, let alone inside of a Spigen Tough Armor case. I too contacted apple thought their online chat, and was told that it would cost $349 for a replacement. No thanks. I payed full price for the phone five months ago.

I have had nearly every iPhone since the first, and have never had a phone bend through normal use. In my front pocket.

Looks like I'll be taking my chances and driving 3 hours to the nearest apple store to see what they say.

Depending on how old your phone is, if it is within the 14 days...just tell them you want a new color and give them your phone in the box...Not like I would ever do that :p

Wasn't there a comparative test in which the 6+ actually did better than several large Android phones? I'm going on memory so I may be mistaken - but I don't think so.
I think the test showed that a majority of the phones had the same bending force.

I am amazed that every thread about a bent phone has the owner claiming he didn't do anything wrong. He babied the phone and it magically bent on it's own.

Could be a design issue, manufacturing defect, or some combination of both.

These issues were rare in the iPhone 5/5S era.

You and I have the exact same case. I am afraid to look at mine now..

I was such a bent naysayer and kind of didn't believe anyone at first, now my iPhone 6+ is bent. I got off the phone with Apple Support and the next available in store date is Thursday..

The guy told me I have to pay for it! - He said it was reasonable to assume that it was an accident and since I don't have Apple Care I have to pay for it.

I've babied this thing, I've never bent any other iPhone and I told him it was reasonable to assume that this iPhone bent because of a manufacturing defect and we agreed they were both reasonable statements, with the only resolution being I have to go to the Apple Store to figure it out.

I've come down on both sides of this before but I have never, not once, put it in my back pocket. 99% of the time the phone sits on my desk or it's in a car mount or a on a conference room table. It's not even a "classic" bend, it's bent just on one corner, I don't know how it happened or when it happened but I noticed it this morning. I'm pretty sure it wasn't there yesterday and it's literally been sitting on my desk all weekend plugged in to a charger.

Did anyone else have to pay for a bent iPhone? I think it's a little crazy...

Sorry, but the phone was either sat on or dropped. It will not bend by its self.

If your 6plus is in a SPIGEN TOUGH ARMOR CASE and it still bends from normal use, then that is a defect in the phone.

My friend works at apple and said they are replacing most bent phones under warranty.

I really don't use it any other way, I ride a desk at least 8 hours a day - I'm a software developer, I've exercised with it but not since last week (when I do it's in an Arm Pocket where any pressure is actually exerted in the opposite direction of the bend, maybe a good 10 mi run will bend it back? :) ), the thing spends most of it's life plugged into my Mac where I run my software on it.

I am sure I somehow bent the phone, I do not think that it bent by itself - I have no idea how that happened. Sometimes I keep the phone in an Apple leather case and sometimes I take it off. I have never dropped the phone, I can't recall the phone ever being stuck or jammed between two objects. I usually hold the phone in my hand from the house to the car. There are no scratches, dents, dings, etc. anywhere on the phone.

I think it's really strange how only one corner bent and the bend occurs directly where the volume buttons are located. My iPad is bigger than my iPhone and it is not bent. My interaction with the support has made me a bit hesitant and a little anxious about going to the store on Thursday. Personally, I buy every new gen Apple product, I'm a fan and it's fun but I expect them to have my back. Outside of an iPhone 5 with screen clicking this is my first real issue.

I've broken things before, that's life, I don't think this situation is similar to any of those situations.

Any update from the Apple store?

Sorry, but when fanbois deny that a company did no wrong when they so obviously have, I feel no remorse when the crap hits their own face. Apple owes you and everyone a 6s+ replacement or refund, but next time maybe you won't blindly defend the company when they f up.

I think what they mean is normal use. A phone shouldn't bend under "normal" use.

Problem is that the word "normal" spans a pretty broad area. These phone do not bend by dropping them, most the time it was sat on while in a rear pocket. My friend had his in his front pocket in loose pants but he ran into a table edge at a bar and bent his iPhone 6+ rather badly. He said his leg was bruised for days so I can see how that could bend the phone.

I am amazed that a phone is so poorly designed that it bends under reasonable use, and it does sound like the OP practiced reasonable use. The product should be built for real world use.

The fact that you people would rather blame the customer than the manufacturer is exactly why Apple gets away with subpar practices.

Apple is trying to fix the problem in the next phone - proving they screwed up.

I bent mine a couple months back.
Forgot I had it in my back-pocket and sat down on it.
No worries though, I bent it right back;)
Straight, or close to it, ever since!

In a pinch, I once used my $1800 Rockstead knife as a prybar.
I'll continue to love Rockstead knives, but a prybar it was not... Regardless of how superb that steel is.

lol. Yes, and THAT was improper use of your product. The iPhone 6 will bend with far less abuse -- just ask the OP. And, Apple knows it -- that's why they're re-designing the damn product. :)

This reminds me when apple made the black iPhone 5 and it was scuffed out of the box. So many people denied it and said it was our fault it was stuffed. Then Apple releases a statement saying its normal lmao.

I think the closest apple ever admitted to a mistake was the antennas on the 4. But all they did was offer a free case.

It isn't a reasonably expectation to expect a knife to be used as a pry bar and survive with no damage. On the other hand, it is reasonable to expect a phone be kept in pockets day to day without permanently bending.
