I did not take them down
I think the test showed that a majority of the phones had the same bending force.Wasn't there a comparative test in which the 6+ actually did better than several large Android phones? I'm going on memory so I may be mistaken - but I don't think so.
I am amazed that every thread about a bent phone has the owner claiming he didn't do anything wrong. He babied the phone and it magically bent on it's own.
OP, you and I have very similar stories. I never thought my phone would actually bend through normal use, let alone inside of a Spigen Tough Armor case. I too contacted apple thought their online chat, and was told that it would cost $349 for a replacement. No thanks. I payed full price for the phone five months ago.
I have had nearly every iPhone since the first, and have never had a phone bend through normal use. In my front pocket.
Looks like I'll be taking my chances and driving 3 hours to the nearest apple store to see what they say.

I was such a bent naysayer and kind of didn't believe anyone at first, now my iPhone 6+ is bent. I got off the phone with Apple Support and the next available in store date is Thursday..
The guy told me I have to pay for it! - He said it was reasonable to assume that it was an accident and since I don't have Apple Care I have to pay for it.
I've babied this thing, I've never bent any other iPhone and I told him it was reasonable to assume that this iPhone bent because of a manufacturing defect and we agreed they were both reasonable statements, with the only resolution being I have to go to the Apple Store to figure it out.
I've come down on both sides of this before but I have never, not once, put it in my back pocket. 99% of the time the phone sits on my desk or it's in a car mount or a on a conference room table. It's not even a "classic" bend, it's bent just on one corner, I don't know how it happened or when it happened but I noticed it this morning. I'm pretty sure it wasn't there yesterday and it's literally been sitting on my desk all weekend plugged in to a charger.
Did anyone else have to pay for a bent iPhone? I think it's a little crazy...
Sorry, but the phone was either sat on or dropped. It will not bend by its self.

I really don't use it any other way, I ride a desk at least 8 hours a day - I'm a software developer, I've exercised with it but not since last week (when I do it's in an Arm Pocket where any pressure is actually exerted in the opposite direction of the bend, maybe a good 10 mi run will bend it back?), the thing spends most of it's life plugged into my Mac where I run my software on it.
I am sure I somehow bent the phone, I do not think that it bent by itself - I have no idea how that happened. Sometimes I keep the phone in an Apple leather case and sometimes I take it off. I have never dropped the phone, I can't recall the phone ever being stuck or jammed between two objects. I usually hold the phone in my hand from the house to the car. There are no scratches, dents, dings, etc. anywhere on the phone.
I think it's really strange how only one corner bent and the bend occurs directly where the volume buttons are located. My iPad is bigger than my iPhone and it is not bent. My interaction with the support has made me a bit hesitant and a little anxious about going to the store on Thursday. Personally, I buy every new gen Apple product, I'm a fan and it's fun but I expect them to have my back. Outside of an iPhone 5 with screen clicking this is my first real issue.
I've broken things before, that's life, I don't think this situation is similar to any of those situations.
I think what they mean is normal use. A phone shouldn't bend under "normal" use.

If it's bent you're doing it wrong. Period.
If it's bent so easily, you're designing it wrong. Period.
In a pinch, I once used my $1800 Rockstead knife as a prybar.
I'll continue to love Rockstead knives, but a prybar it was not... Regardless of how superb that steel is.
It isn't a reasonably expectation to expect a knife to be used as a pry bar and survive with no damage. On the other hand, it is reasonable to expect a phone be kept in pockets day to day without permanently bending. In a pinch, I once used my $1800 Rockstead knife as a prybar.
