Apple covers this under their limited warranty. Although, a "tech" will have to inspect it to see if it falls under the guidelines for a swap.

A full/slight bent near the volume rockers seems to be what they look for. It appears they have guidelines on what is considered bent due to flaw, and guidelines on what is bent due to mistreatment. As long as your tech approves the swap, they'll gladly swap it out for you.

They did it for me and gave me absolutely no problems. Apple 1 year limited warranty surprisingly covered it

Help me out, since when an iPhone became a Toyota and a design flaw a defective break?
Is it not a thread about iPhone 6+?
You might've got lost in the jungle of different webforums.

I think what they mean is normal use. A phone shouldn't bend under "normal" use.
I have a very difficult time believing that the phone was used normally. There are millions and millions of 6+ that have been used normally without bending.

Yeah...

Somehow I would be willing to bet OP accidentally applied more pressure than he meant to and bent it. Perhaps by sitting weird or something. Probably wasn't on purpose. But the phone didn't just bend itself.

And I have difficulty believing that many people who used older iPhones normally all of a sudden decided to abuse their iPhone 6/6+. The bend rate is much higher with these phones, when it was virtually unheard of in the past.

So you are saying that everyone with a bent phone has a long history of not bending iPhones? And bent phones are not a new phenomena.

I don't think every iPhone is created equal in regards to the bending.

I had a 6+ for a week or two, no bends.

Traded it for a 6 that I was babying (as it was brand new) and I noticed it bent the next day. It was a slight bend, obvious to me when I noticed it, and may have been that way out of the box. The Apple Store replaced it, but I had to be patient while they decided (this was in Dec).

Got my replacement, had it for 7 months now, I take care of it but don't baby it at all. It's not at all bent.

So, one 6 I had for a day was bent, and another 6 for 7 months with much less careful handling and no bend. And of course, the 6+ that never bent at all either.

Thats bc 98% of iPhone users are not flaw obsessed people like us in these forums. My mom has a 6+. Its bent and she never noticed nor does she care. Im guessing a lot of people are like that too.

The average person isn't putting a 6+ up to their face and measuring it with rulers and crap like ppl in here.

I was such a bent naysayer and kind of didn't believe anyone at first, now my iPhone 6+ is bent. I got off the phone with Apple Support and the next available in store date is Thursday..

The guy told me I have to pay for it! - He said it was reasonable to assume that it was an accident and since I don't have Apple Care I have to pay for it.

I've babied this thing, I've never bent any other iPhone and I told him it was reasonable to assume that this iPhone bent because of a manufacturing defect and we agreed they were both reasonable statements, with the only resolution being I have to go to the Apple Store to figure it out.

I've come down on both sides of this before but I have never, not once, put it in my back pocket. 99% of the time the phone sits on my desk or it's in a car mount or a on a conference room table. It's not even a "classic" bend, it's bent just on one corner, I don't know how it happened or when it happened but I noticed it this morning. I'm pretty sure it wasn't there yesterday and it's literally been sitting on my desk all weekend plugged in to a charger.

Did anyone else have to pay for a bent iPhone? I think it's a little crazy...

I'm afraid Bendgate is real.

Sorry you have proof. My iPhone 5 is straight.

Im 100% serious. Initially I called Apple Support to do the express replacement. However they told me that it was a better idea to take it in to the apple store and have them analyze whether it was covered or not. So I did just that, got it replaced within 10 minutes. Walked out with a refurb that seemed even better than my new iPhone 6+

I think its hilarious people expect their cell phones to stay in perfect shape permanently and never have any wear and tear. People who obsess over nicks or minor scratches need their heads examined. Even a slight bend in the phone that you can barely notice is not something to obsess over. If you want your iPhone to stay in perfect new condition forever then don't bother using it!

Your post reminds me of a fanboi in another thread who tried to "explain" that "wear and tear" (i.e. colour coming off the AW band) after 2 days is absolutely normal. And all this for modest $600. This case - of course - is "different". As we are talking about $750. I lack the consistency in arguments. Either there is no "bandgate" at all, the deformation is caused solely by the user, i.e. there is no design flaw whatsoever or there is the "what are you all talking about, it is a normal wear and tear" quasi argument.

I am amazed that a phone is so poorly designed that it bends under reasonable use, and it does sound like the OP practiced reasonable use. The product should be built for real world use.

The fact that you people would rather blame the customer than the manufacturer is exactly why Apple gets away with subpar practices.

Apple is trying to fix the problem in the next phone - proving they screwed up.
Its pretty well known that Apple is more of a design first function second company.

This reminds me when apple made the black iPhone 5 and it was scuffed out of the box. So many people denied it and said it was our fault it was stuffed. Then Apple releases a statement saying its normal lmao.

I think the closest apple ever admitted to a mistake was the antennas on the 4. But all they did was offer a free case.
Apple never released a statement saying its normal for wear out of the box.

"Any aluminum product may scratch or chip with use, exposing its natural silver color," Apple Senior Marketing VP Phil Schiller said in an e-mail, according to 9to5Mac. "That is normal."

Like I said apple never said out of the box, only with use that it will chip. So I stand correct in my original statement.
Whatever. This forum had a 600000 page thread along with a huge one on Apple support from millions about cases where it was scratched out of the box. Not something for Apple to admit.

The iPhone 4 had serious issues I don't even remember if they admitted that the phone was flawed. Instead they gave out free cases.

Yep I remember when Apple handed out the little bumpers because we were holding our phone wrong! And some people want the lines on the back of the 6 to go away! Not me, I like good RF and do not notice the lines with my case.

Apple almost never admits to problems. When they announced the 4S they were boasting about the new antenna design to fix a problem that never existed according to apple during antennagate.

Lol yup. But I guess when you are the number 1 company in the world, you do not have to admit to design flaws in the devices. Ppl still gonna buy no matter what.

Its unfortunate but true. Thats why competition is so important, Samsung single handily made apple eat their words by releasing a phablet.

I love my 6 Plus btw :)

Please examine my head. I want my phone to stay in perfect condition. I plan on selling it as soon as a new one comes out and a perfect phone sells for more money and much easier than one that is mistreated.

I've used my iPhone 6 Plus naked for about half a year. I wear skinny jeans and sometimes bend over when reaching for things with the phone on my front pocket. And guess what, no bend. No matter how paranoid I am when I look at it.

However, I have seen too many reports of users under questionable normal use with their phones bending to deny that the iPhone 6 Plus does not bend under specific circumstances.

You can't blame people for having reactions when their phones are bent. It's their investment after all. And didn't some guy from reddit already explain why the phone is only bending on the same side?
