May as well throw my story in. I decided to switch back from android to iOS about a month ago and got a 6 plus. I always have my phone in a case, Otterbox defender when I'm working and just the leather Apple case when I've finished.

After about 3 weeks I noticed a purple mark on the screen which I only realised after I took my phone out of its case, was caused by being bent. Pretty sure it was my fault, I think it was in a jacket pocket and got a grass cutters seat pushing on it when I sat down.

Apple Store replaced it no problem so I can't complain.

I was a bending doubter too... I switched from a 6+ to a 6 as my "daily driver" because of how many times I bent the 6+ just enough that it wouldn't lay flat. Luckily all my bends were able to be bent back out without a problem. I take care of my stuff too. For example: my 6+ was my "daily" for 8-9 months, I didn't use a case or screen protector, there isn't even the tiniest scratch on the screen or body.

But somehow it just got "tweaked" occasionally from being in my front pocket and I wear deep pocketed Duluth Trading pants so my phone is no where near where my hips bend.

Haven't had the 6 bend... yet..

Still I couldn't, in good conscience, sell my 6+ to anyone because of the tiny bends I've experienced/fixed.

Dead thread!! Fail

So how did you get on with your Apple appointment?

Yes, what happened? The appointment was supposed to be last Monday, right?

Maybe Apple got rid of "the evidence" by locking him & the bent phone in a backroom cell. RIP, OP.

Lol nope sorry guys, I had to reschedule again for today at 2:50pm ET so I will let you know then.

I sprained my ankle on Monday and haven't been around much to update (sitting upright really hurts).

In a weird "twist" - I think the phone is getting less bent - it has just literally sat on my desk as I've kind of been out of commission. Pic attached. I don't know if I"m losing it but does it look less bent to you? The only thing I can think of is we had a few hot days (Long Island, NY) and I'm not really a fan of air conditioning, that plus being plugged in all the time. I guess what I'm thinking is, do you think it can get hot enough to the point where it bends a little?

Both my iPhone 6+ and my iPad Air 2 bend a bit. I just bend them back into place and go on with life, lol. It hasn't affected the functionality. I think it's just the metal is more pliable on this model.

Woh ... the iPad bends too? Time to fire the materials guy and that lead designer you all love so much.

I have an iPad Air 2. Been in a case 98% of the time; now I don't ever want to take it out even when it feels heavy.

One of the biggest concerns I have about returning to the iPhone full time is the fragility of the iPhone 6 design.

It's a clear case of form over function to me. A thicker device that is more durable with larger battery is something the public would find more valuable than bending phones and trips to the Apple store for replacements.

Of course you know how it bent. Unless someone else bent it while out of your control. Either way, someone knows. I hope Apple will replace it for you, but you will have better luck if you are honest, then if you lie. Getting Apple to stand behind a product because of your misuse will be just like getting out of a traffic citation. Be nice and tell the truth and you are likely to get a warning (a replacement iPhone). Lie, and you will definitely get the ticket. (No replacement. )

I want to agree with your angle because it's not wrong. It's just that the issue is far deeper than whether or not OP busted it ... the real issue is that there is a very obvious, consistent tendency for the 6 and 6+ to bend under what really SHOULD be considered normal world use.

Deep down you all know it ... it's a flimsy design.

If it would prove anything, I would dare the OP to behave in the exact same fashion with any other phone and see if he's bothered by this hassle yet again.

I said it above somewhere - I am sure that I have bent it but I am not sure how I bent it. The phone was perfect and spent the majority of it's life on my desk. I thought maybe it had something to do with the heat but I'm not sure if that's really realistic. I haven't treated this phone much differently than any other phone I've had, I've never had a phone bend before. I know this phone is bigger than every other phone I've had before too and while I didn't really understand the initial bend gate stuff I never put this phone in my back pocket (I've never done that with any phone anyway).

All depends... I came up with a really clever/funny story/lie and pointed out the cop's headlight was burnt out... got out of doing 105 in a 65 zone with just a warning. (I just wanted to see how fast my new Audi made it from 65 to 100, road was empty, so I went for it... didn't see the cop tucked in behind the bridge support)

My iPhone 6+ got bent all the time and I was so careful with it. I know of 2 other people in the office that have bent their iPhone 6/6+. I have yet to hear one complaint about bending from any of the five S6/S6 Edge users in the same group (and the S6 Edge was supposedly easier to bend than the 6+).

If you look at any lateral support for a structure, there is a certain ratio of height to width that needs to be there (determined by material and construction) to support the stresses applied to its length. The iPhone 6+'s H/W ratio is just to wide for the material it is made from.

There is always the inescapable: Many of the people that have bending issues with a 6/6+ also had an iPhone before that as well... Without it bending...

Well, thats not good... iPhone 6+ is too big.... Hope that the iPhone 6s will be smaller (or just come with iPhone 6s and not iPhone 6s+

Why would you hope that?

If you don't want the Plus, don't get the Plus. There are many of us that love the Plus and wouldn't trade down in size for anything -- no reason to wish to deny us what we want when there's already an option for others that prefer something smaller.

Of course, but given that they all bend in the same spot it shows this section of the phone is a weak point.

Every physical object on the planet will have spots weaker than others. That doesn't indicate a design flaw; it the nature of 'things'.

I don't sit on my Plus. I don't let heavy things press against my front pocket when I have my phone there. I don't drop my phone. My phone is just as straight as the day I purchased it (the day they came out last year).

If I fling my Wii controller into the glass of my tv set, there's a good chance I'll break the glass (and possibly the controller): this doesn't mean the tv is flawed ... it means I did something silly and paid the price. The OP's phone didn't bend on its own or through normal use. Enough force was applied to it to bend it. He/she may not remember what they did, but that's not uncommon.

When it comes to these relatively expensive, electronic devices I think many people are confusing 'expensive' with 'highly rugged'. Just because something's expensive doesn't mean it can take a beating.

I've worked in wireless for 11 years. When the first thing someone says to me is "I always take care of my phone!"/"It never gets sat on!"/"I never ever take it around water!"...I just automatically assume you did whatever you just said you didn't do. And 99% of the time that's 100% the right assumption for me to make.

There is no way, period end of story, that your phone just bent itself magically one night while on the charger. Does. Not. Happen.

If you bothered reading the thread you would have known that I did say I must have bent it, I don't know how, I'm glad you don't work at Apple.

Tim, is that you? Can you please, please, please make the 6S tougher. Mine bent too and one of my friend's did the same. I promise you I drink the kool-aid and I wont tell anyone about this one... but make the 6S stronger.

Yes it is, how did you know. I am going to make the 6S slightly thicker to increase it's structural integrity but you still can't sit on it!!!

Please keep our secret!

There is obviously a weakness by the volume buttons that will let the phone bend under normal usage conditions.

I've been normally using my Plus for 10 months and it hasn't bent. Ditto for my wife and son.

Then again, I don't consider treating my phone like my wallet (sit on it! drop it on the nightstand!) or tossing it around like a tv remote 'normal' usage.

That means nothing.

"I've had Chevrolets before. I just got this new Corvette that's a different model made from different material than my last vehicle, but it's the same manufacturer, so I should be able to drive it exactly the same way as I drove my Suburban without any worries!" ... clearly a good way to bust up your new Corvette.

The Plus is a thinner device with larger dimensions. Anyone that treats it exactly the same, abusive way as their previous, different devices is either naive or willfully stubborn to the point of being destructive.
