Once again makes me very glad that morons all end up on my ignore list. Now if only other people would stop quoting them, I'd never see stupid comments again! ;)

jW

Admittedly, that bugs me too. Sorry for quoting an idiot. I won't do it anymore.

John Gruber posted his predictions on Daring Fireball.

He says:

-The word is that Apple’s “secrecy machine” has been kicked back into high gear ever since you-know-who returned from you-know-what.

TOUCH-The most important iPod, the Touch, is getting a camera, and I believe will match the iPhone 3GS on processor speed and RAM.

CLASSIC-The Classic isn’t going away just yet — I think they’ll bump the capacity from 120 to 160 GB and keep the price at $249.

NANO-First, that Apple has developed some sort of top-secret new material / treatment for the Nano shell. No idea what it is, if true. Second, that the Nano is getting an FM tuner

SHUFFLE-My gut feeling is that the current no-button Shuffle has been a dud sales-wise, and at best has been a disappointment. So I’m thinking Apple will announce a brand-new design — maybe even with a button.

STEVE JOBS-I hope he’s up on stage doing his thing, but my gut still says no, that he’s done as the company’s spokesman.

Wildest prediction and most interesting:

-iTUNES-What makes iTunes such an odd duck for Apple is that it’s not just a Mac app — there are far more iTunes users on Windows, and but there is no 64-bit Cocoa runtime for Windows. So here’s my pet theory: at some point iTunes will be rewritten using WebKit to render the UI. I’m not saying iTunes will become a web browser — just that the UI itself will be a WebKit view. WebKit is cross-platform and built for the future.

-COCKTAIL-What platform could this be based on that would support playback on Mac OS X, Windows, iPhone OS, Apple TV (with a software update), and even, say, a new tablet platform scheduled for early 2010? Oh, and it would help if it were based on technologies like HTML, CSS, and JavaScript that developers are already familiar with.

Obviously: WebKit.

So my guess is that Cocktail is going to be like a sort of next-generation Dashboard.

Any computer news from Apple today ?

Oh, wait, Intel announced their i5 cpus today.

Affordable headless mac tomorrow. Yay ! :D

Classic was 160GB two years ago...I really hope they have something larger than that up their sleeves.

Best Buy

Hey, I was checking out the BestBuy online page (new arrivals) and I found some Belkin cases for iTouch 3G and some Wall Dock charger. Any ideas what could they be??

Well, I haven't looked at them yet, but my guess is that they are cases and a charger. :D

macrumors does not cease to amaze me.....for the past decade or so !!

A camera in the iPod ?! are you serious ? calling that a rumor.

Who cares :)

Additional confirmation and mockup images of the next-generation iPod nano appeared shortly thereafter, and the new iPod nano is also rumored to carry a wider-aspect (1.5:1) screen ratio.

Finally, iPod resellers have also reported dwindling stocks of existing iPod models and discontinuation of product codes for those models.

Alright... reporting about the mockup images again is totally stirring up the hype. it's kinda sad when people make photoshopped images (and the sadder part is that they make it believable in some cases i.e. 'leaks' and again, stirring up interest) and whilst at it, 1.5:1 is usually denoted as 3:2, even though I understand that ppl are trying to get it into the x:1 form.

And lastly, it's obvious when new products come out they don't stock up on old stuff. 'dwindling stocks' has been mentioned countless times in the past in many articles... :D

Meh, if there's no GPS I most likely won't be forking over a dime. My cell phone takes pictures and I see no reason to want another toy that just does one new thing that I don't really care much about.

Beatles

I was ready to dismiss this (again). The only thing is that the CDs (box sets) are already sold out and production quantity must have been small (local Best Buy is only getting 5 units). We'll know tomorrow. (Tomorrow Never Knows).

Last year, I was checking MacRumors everyday to see what new features the iPod nano and iPod touch had. This year, there's been like no REAL speculation. Nicholas sad. :(

I predict for the iPod touch:
Camera
CPU Speed (might not be shown, but it will be faster nonetheless)
Stronger speaker

Better speakers on the iPt is an interesting one. But unless Apple has been really good about secrecy this time around, then this is the worst iPod update ever.

Yeah we'll see a better processor, a camera, and a capacity increase. But so what? How would that convince anyone who has a 2G to upgrade?

Lots and lots and lots of people bought the iPhone 3G.

Remember, before the 3GS, the iPod Touch was faster than the iPhone 3G. I had a better processor. Unless Apple gives the iPod touch an even faster processor, this will not be as big an upgrade.

Cmon, wheres the page this time???

You already know exactly what will be released. So what's the point of spoiler-free?

The possible ability to arrange apps in iTunes would be much appreciated. It is just to frustrating trying to drag apps all over, just to have them not sit right. All the rest of it I couldn't care less about.

Here's my final "three-day wild guess" on what we'll see on 9 September 2009:

1) Steve Jobs will host the keynote address.

2) Will announce that the iTunes Store now sells an amazing 25% of all new music in the USA.

3) Will demonstrate iTunes 9.0 with QuickTime X, available immediately in a 64-bit version for MacOS X 10.6 and Windows Vista/7 in 64-bit mode. Will use somewhat revamped interface, adds social network support for Facebook and MySpace, and adds support for the "Cocktail" digital album liner note format.

4) Announces the phaseout of the iPod shuffle (!).

5) Announces the new 5G iPod nano with new, wider aspect ratio screen and "Cocktail" digital album liner note format support. Will be available in three versions:

a) 8 GB with no camera/microphone (US$99). Case color will be silver only.
b) 16 GB with 3.2 megapixel camera/microphone (US$149). Case colors will the same as current 4G iPod nano selection.
c) 32 GB with 3.2 megapixel camera/microphone (US$199) Case colors will be black and Product Red only.

6) Announces new 7G iPod classic with new, higher-resolution and wider aspect ratio screen (smaller click wheel to accommodate wider aspect ratio screen) and "Cocktail" digital album liner note format support. Storage capacity is now 160 GB using a new 1.8" single platter drive, and case colors will be silver and black only. Possibility exists for 128 GB flash memory storage if Apple can secure supplies at a decent price in lieu of 160 GB hard drive. Will be priced at US$249, the same as the current "6.5G" iPod classic.

7) Announces new 3G iPod touch, essentially an iPhone 3Gs with no cellphone function. Will incorporate new 3.2 megapixel sensor camera on back of player, will incorporate iPhone 3.1 software with full "Cocktail" digital album liner note support. Will be priced at US$199 (16 GB), US$299 (32 GB) and US$399 (64 GB).

8) Announces deal to offer the remastered Beatles albums on iTunes Store, to be available for download including the full "Cocktail" digital album liner notes in mid-November 2009.

i really hope they added flac support for itunes...

I think the best you could hope for would be the ability to import FLAC but have it be converted to Apple Lossless (ie no FLAC flac in iTunes)... and even that would be a surprise. Anything wrong with using XLD to convert to the ALAC and then import?
