It’s the HomePod worth it ?

Have you actually heard the HomePod demo and in stores yet? What do you like about the HomePod? Do you use any other smart speakers in comparison? Those are all things I would consider if you’re going to ask if it’s ‘worth’ it. The audio the HomePod emanates is very good, but is it good for $350 smart speaker? I think you have to make that decision by hearing it first.
I never owned a smart speaker. The audio is good, I heard it once at the store but I don’t think is the same because the store it’s a lot bigger and it’s bigger that the place where I’m planning to use the HomePod.
My suggestion would be to you, why don’t you purchase the HomePod risk-free for 14 Days (If you don’t like it, return it). Place it somewhere in your home that you find it to be the most suitable option and try it out, see what you think if it’s _worth_ keeping or not. I really think when it comes to home audio and smart speakers, that’s really what you have to do is find the appropriate placement, and the HomePod is about the audio, and it might sound totally different in your house depending on the acoustics with your ceilings, spacing, room size, etc.

Yes, the HomePod delivered on day 1 is quite useful in my bedroom. The real beauty is having two for the stereo effect. The second and third were purchased at $299, just before AirPlay 2 got fully baked. Placement is important, just like any stereo sweet-spot search. There will be software upgrades, but the product sounds so good I really don't look for any hardware changes or even additions (anything smaller would potentially downgrade the sound). Plus there is the everlasting hope that Siri keeps maturing.
What are you trying to achieve? I would say if you are looking to do serious listening in a (relatively) fixed spot, the HomePod isn't the best choice. If you are looking for room-filling sound that will be equally good almost anywhere in the space and you don't want to redecorate/acoustically treat the room then the HomePod is an excellent choice. The best one if are invested in the Apple ecosystem.

I use it primarily for my music and could not be more pleased. Good sound quality. I enjoy having music at my fingertips during the day. I did not activate it for texting or anything personal, but I do turn my lights on and off with it. It is a little pricey, but for me it was worth it. My last speaker had to be recharged and i had to go to the iPAD and select the list I wanted to play and that was it. I could not pause it by voice, skip a selection, request anything etc. I am happy with it for my purposes. You satisfaction will depend on if it fits your expectations.
Well, Homepod is for me the only decent option as I will never put an Amazon/Facebook/Google 'smart' speaker in my home over privacy concerns.
If you want a small footprint, well designed, decent quality speaker at a premium price... then it's worth it.
