First one went back.
Front glass had a small nick/scratch.
Replacement seems ok so far.

I do not see any pink screen issue.
But smudges seem far more prominent than before....could this be due to the new anti re-reflective coating?

BTW
(What is book spine shadow?)

Also- Much faster than the iPad 3.

This is my first iPad (bought LTE so still waiting on it  ) I'm also wondering what What is book spine shadow is.

Throwing more RAM at a hog of an OS is not innovation. It's compensation.

iOS has been doing very well for a long time with very skimpy specs, look how much RAM desktop operating systems chew up, or Android devices. The move to 2GB of RAM has been long overdue.

book spine shadow is the slight dark tinge along the left edge of the screen from top to bottom...most noticeable on white/gray pages

Got ipad air 2 today. Noticed this shadow you mention. My wife's air 1 does not have it. Also it seems to get warm on the right even with basic browsing.

Am I alone in seeing this strip in the left where screen seems less bright?

Well mine has a nice fat band of pink across the bottom of the screen. The more I look at it, the worse it looks. I think it's going back.

Yikes reading about some of these screens has me worried mine will be here Friday. If it looks like crap I'll just return and wait till Black Friday for some kind of deal, maybe it could be corrected by then. LG always has ****** screen issues. Smh

It only has 2GB ram and the Surface has 4GB ram. Apple is playing catch up and not innovating fast enough. I want to use my iPad as a laptop replacement.

You do know the Surface is a laptop running Windows 8 right?

----------

Yep. Only Tri-Core? Samsung has had quad-core tablets for years.

Find me a Samsung quad core that benchmarks faster than the iPad Air 2.

----------

Why don't you get a surface?

Because then he would be the only person in his zip code with one.

I had the ipad 2 and never had any issues with the light. I never had signal problems with the iphone 4 and my iphone 6 does not bend.

If Apple made £99 cheap phones nobody would be moaning. I blame the expensive cost people have to find a fault.

I have every confidence you will find something. Don't forget to check for dust.

CODE RED, CODE RED, I repeat CODE RED!

I found what I can only call a piece of foreign matter between the LCD display and the display glass. While in reality it's probably only 10 µm in diameter to me it looks huge! It might as well be a beach ball. Oh Apple, how you continue to disappoint me. My iAir2 is tainted and I'm just not sure how I can ever recover from it.

Ahh the Annual "I need to justify spending a ton of money on a product, so lets ridicule those not willing to put up with sub standards devices" thread.

Whatever helps you sleep at night after being mugged off for a premium price for a less than premium product.

"There's, dust but no Apple's still my God I will worship them! it's okay its okay! Oh god yellow tint! No no it's just my imagination, I'm sure of it, stay calm stay calm! Apple wouldn't do this to me! Oh **** Book spine!! Must run to the internet and put down others before I lose faith in the Ghost of Steve Jobs!"

My new air 2 looks great. Indicates that my wifi is speedier than on my older ipads.
My only issue is that it seems stuck in the new apple case I received. I tried to take it out to show and it isn't going anywhere...:)

How long until I can order and supplies aren't all f'd up? Don't want any part of this launch day shipment.

Had to send my iPad air 2 back because there was nothing wrong with it. Hoping the replacement has an issue i can talk about. Light bleed, bendyness, warm screen. I'll let Apple choose. Having an iPad without issues is boring. Nothing to talk about

Took it back. Got another. Second one is basically perfect, and I rarely say that.

If my first Air 2 had uneven color, an entire year after the Air, then waiting til it's "corrected" is a waste of time.

Ok, I've learned my lesson about being Mr. Funnypants (as my mother-law would say). As I mentioned I found a very small speck of dust under my screen. I'm thinking ok I hardly notice it especially when it's on so I can live with it. I really don't want to be the person who obsesses over these things. So today I take my iPad out into the bright sun and that piece of dust must be a speck of metal because it lite up like a bright little star. Lets just say my iPad is going back for an exchange. So people do your worst to me!

PS. Ironically dirt under the screen wasn't included on my list.

Did you preorder online and return in the store, can we do that? Or did you do an exchange keeping your box?

little secret...

Apple doesn't care if you return the box OR accessories.

I pre-ordered online. Got the dud. Took it home to see if I could get used to it. Decided I couldn't. Cabbed it to the Apple store this am, without the box, cable, or charger.

Bought another one instead of exchanging, to bypass the whole "we don't see the problem" or "it's within spec" shenanigans. Verified the new one looked acceptable, then turned around and pulled out the dud. Offered to give up my new box and accessories and was told "No worries."

Same scenario played out last year. I got an extra lightning cable and power brick out of the deal then too. Of course, when I calculate the number of trips to the store and time spent chasing down a decent iPad, I don't feel bad.

More like "It's time to play find an actual iPad Air 2". But really, where can I get one? I don't have an Apple Store in this college town and none of the usual retailers seem to have any in stock. I don't understand.

My biggest gripe is when using the speakers...the darn thing just vibrates. I don't mean a little vibration, I mean vibrating like my Yamaha Pro 500s when blasting music full blast. I guess Dr. Dre wanted people to feel that bass.

I see did you just tell them the truth you weren't happy with the old screen, no questions asked? I hate to have to be prepared for this but it is what it is. I really hope mine is fine, had problems in the past my iPad 3rd gen had horrible bleed I'm talking unacceptable since I know some is normal returned about three of them. My air last year was perfecly fine first unit. I've been down this road but not with Apple purchased at Target before hopefully I don't have to do it again.

Yep. Told him the screen had a pink shift, then showed him, and he readily agreed. Of course this was AFTER I'd purchased the replacement which was acceptable.

I can't recommend enough buying a replacement before returning a defective one, if you can lay out the cash. Bypassing genius bars and haggling is much less stressful.

Well played but I partially paid with store credit so I'm not going to be able to pull that maneuver.
