Does it include making iTunes match no longer suck?

No?

Oh well...

Man... this was my great hope too.

I was talking with a colleague today, and thinking through how nice it would be to invest in polishing up the features already existing to make them work better.

iTunes Match and iMessage have been so buggy for me lately. I use Dropbox, and I don't think I can place any confidence in the new iCloud coming out....

Ugh... I still have to enter my password 3 times before I can update any apps. Entering your password shouldn't be a requirement when updating apps.

So if you have your movies/extras downloaded locally and use Home Share to play them back the extras won't work.
You have to click on the Movies channel and browse your purchased movies there to stream the Extras.

Ah, I thought it was a rewrite when they added 64-bit support. Well now I definitely think it needs to be rewritten. COME ON APPLE. Haha

Be careful what you wish for. Pages was a rewrite and they removed half of its features and ruined the UI.

Honestly in the case of iTunes half of the features are probably unnecessary bloat and it would be hard to make the interface much worse.

Oh god I hope this is the update that fixes the year+ long bug some people have been having that prevents devices being synced.

Seems like iTunes is due for an overhaul, from the ground up... Maybe it's just me, but it feels clunky as it has grown to do much more than music...

It needs an overhaul much more than iPhoto and Aperture needed the overhaul that happened to them. If I had to pick one thing on my Mac to go away forever it would be the problems iTunes brings to the table. Granted many have been cosmetic but when you take the time out of your day to bug report and then have bugs closed without anybody looking at the bug, it taints your opinion of that program and its programmers. The last bug I turned in with this treatment was on missing chapter information after group edit on all parts following the first when the icon cache system service has crashed.

Just checked todays iTunes release and the bug is still there.

iTunes Extras on Apple TV works pretty well. I browsed through my HD collection but I could only find one move showing Extras (Grand Budapest Hotel). Rather than diving straight into the move, you get an opening graphic and menu, where you get the choice to play the movie or see the Extras.

Looking forward to more of these as they become available with my collection.

What the h-e-double-l took so damn long? You're selling tons of Apple TV's and you can see how many movies we're buying.

So ridiculous this took so long. Almost pointless at this stage in the game though. Unless you buy a brand new release you can usually find older stuff cheaper on Blu-ray than in the rip-off iTunes store.

I've looked at my movie library - I don't see anything different other than it saying 'iTunes Extras (Original version)'. Where do you see the blue label, or get it to stream directly?

Cheers

I have a lot of older movies that just show that message as well. This is kind of a confusing mess for iTunes on the Mac. Why wasn't this new process streamlined for every single title with iTunes Extras?

Update: Apparantly, these movies that don't show the iTunes Extras logo but that still have a link to download the "original" iTunes Extras on the Mac can't even be played on Apple TV, and I assume it won't play on iOS either. What a huge let down.

Today's news was bittersweet. It seems like Apple only went halfway on their promise.

Finally!

Apple does something that I like! I've been looking forward to this forever! It just galls me that 70 percent of the digital copies that I have from my Blu-rays are in HD so if I wanted the iTunes Extras, I'd have to repurchase them in HD - which is ***** ridiculous. They should automatically let us upgrade to the HD version since that's what the codes and marketing implied.

This is why Vudu/UV will always be better because those digital copies are almost always in HDX. All I need now are the Extras to be added to my Vudu account and I'll really be happy.

Well, I would think that it's going to take a while to get HD iTunes Extras content for every movie that has them.

Dare I say give it a few weeks (months?) before you pass judgement?

Crazy thought, I know.

I don't know why, but almost every apple service is half-baked.

Siri
iCloud
iTunes match, that almost never misses to annoy
Maps
...

Do you have any idea how difficult it is to create and maintain these services in this unforgiving world? I think Apple is doing a great job. There's always room for improvement, always will be. But there's no room for blanket judgments without specific problem areas like your lovely comment had.

That would be a "visual" overhaul. Let's hope there was also a programming overhaul so that beautiful new UI and also super slick and fast.

Don't make me laugh. iTunes Extras on Apple TV was promised by Steve Jobs back in 2010.

Here's the link to his words: https://www.macrumors.com/2010/11/0...-extras-and-itunes-lp-coming-to-new-apple-tv/

After four years and an official press release by Apple, I think it's quite fair to expect all of my movies that previously did include iTunes Extras to be fully supported in streaming playback on my Mac and Apple TV.

Are you playing them from the Movies app on AppleTV, not from your Library? Sounds like that's where they should be, but I can't look at my own for a few more hours still.

Boo.

Prometheus here in the UK has iTunes Extras but no logo in the store. And checking on my 3rd gen Apple TV no iTunes Extra content shows up.

Half baked indeed. Gives me less hope for iTunes LP content on the iPad now.

Server based features in particular seem to be tough for Apple to get right. You'd think they'd make that a priority but things like iTunes match haven't shown any sign of improvement in the couple years it has been out.

Are you referring to it requiring one to sign in again randomly? That annoys me, but it's only a minute of my day, so I'll deal.

That hasn't happened to me as often as the many other issues with it.

iTunes doesn't stay in dock when closed

iTunes is no longer staying in the dock when I close it. This just started when I installed 11.3 today.

Yes, I have clicked "keep in dock" about 4 times so far to no avail. Does anyone else have this problem?

All my software is up to date.
