How so? Podcasts are just really like Tivo-d radio programs. I despise them. I have no desire to listen to a 30 minute spiel when I can read the same info in less than 5.
Granted it is good for those who commute on the train or carpool, or something like that - but I just don't see podcasts as anything more than a fad.
Ok, your entitled to your opinion. I don't see podcasting as a fad however, I think its many people's way of tell large bureaucratic corporate broadcasters that there is a faster, cheaper and sometimes better way to receive information. The cool thing is that many are MP3's that will work on any player or computer.
I'm sure that you are concerned about the quality and content of some of these
amateur podcasts, but there a lot of professionally created podcasts out there such as ones from CNN,Newsweek,The Washington Post, BBC etc.- that means that a lot of traditional broadcasters are get involved in podcasting as they have discovered this as a new medium for listeners to get their information.
Here is what will really make you spit nails, this type of downloading media from the internet might migrate to TV as well. Instead of broadcast, cable or satellite, you might be getting your programming off the internet.
Take for example, an old TV show, or movie that you wanted to watch. Its not on pay-per-view or at your local video rental store. What do you do? You could download it from the internet to your media center computer, and stream it to your home theater, and it would most likely be a high quality digital recording.
IPTV and podcasting is the future.
I just hope that iTunes 4.9 has content in bookmarkable AAC format(.mp4b).
This has been my $5.00.
