I am saddened by this release. This is the worst piece of Apple software since prior to Jaguar. (And I thought Pages was bad.)
Here are some features that I don't like:
- The inability to use the right and left arrow keys in some places to switch songs.
- No full-screen CoverFlow (unlike the real CoverFlow application).
- The new interface is terribly unorganized, ugly and inconsistent.
- The store is now too wide for 1024X768 pixel screens.
- The interface no longer responds properly to universal interface preferences.
- The store doesn't give the number ratings for the top 100 songs in the separate categories anymore.
- Finding what you want on the iTunes store takes a lot more steps and isn't laid out as it should be in numerous cases.
- The new iTunes icon is ugly and not as professional as other Mac applications.
- iTunes doesn't let you use CoverFlow view and browse at the same time.
- You are forced to have your media separated into different categories that Apple has chosen for you.
- Adjusting equalizer settings is delayed.
- Although it still lists it in the keyboard shortcuts as an option -- you can no longer press cmd+2 to view the equalizer.
- Other features aren't as simple as they should be and don't respond as they should either.
- Less of my playlists can be seen at one time.
A couple of other things I noticed as I typed this are:
- The awesome search bar is gone!
- What?! Why do I have to click on a song in order for me to access it on the store -- that's making two steps where there was only one before.
I can only name 4 "major" features that I actually like and I haven't yet noticed anything else good, useful and/or better:
1. Movie controls
2. Skip Count (column)
3. Last Skipped (column)
4. Free album art (if you can even call this a feature

)
I don't mind a few of the new features but, in my humble opinion, the bad definitely outweighs the good. Maybe now that Apple is doing so well they needed to hire new people but couldn't find anymore good employees and so they had to hire people who have poor design skills.

Perhaps they just had to rush this release to compete with Amazon. I hope it is the latter because this could mark the start of Apple's quality demise.
