Another thing I noticed is that it misreports song length by a few seconds. It's reporting them too short. It plays out until the end and then backs up a second or two, then crashes.

Repair your permissions before and after each install. Mine did some correction to iTunes framework.
 
a few things:
1. gapless playback has always been an option in itunes before this version.
2. i want the old library format back! is there a way to make it 3 little windows? (artist and albums on top and tracks on bottom?) so much scrolling involved now.

Am Encoding H.264 Baseline Profile 640x480 To Test Old 5G Compatability. Takes much longer. Will report success or failure when it's done in another 40 minutes - about 3:15pm Pacific.

iPod 1.2 update software made no mention of this newer H.264 maximum dimension feature. If it works it means a whole new paradigm for Video iPods. The 320x240 pixel restriction for H.264 to date made it a highly unattractive codec to use. Now it's a whole new ballgame if it works. HDTV May be encoded 640x360 max in H.264 for a much better encode. Crossing my fingers this will work. Please pray with me now. ;)
 
I guess the only prob now is that it breaks virtually every plugin out there. Volume Logic doesn't work and OSS3D breaks iTunes (can't play any music)

They must have done some significant under-the-hood changes to the code base. Probably when they added the anti Apple GUI design elements ;)

its a genie glitch, or thats how it seems.
 
Have you all seen the incredible ugly ugly ugly graphics of the UI in itunes 7?!!??!?!?!???!!

Holy moly. looks like next gen Windows!!!

The graphics aren't that bad aside from the grey scroll bars. I do miss the equalizer button tho.
 
I find that it's not as intuitive about disabling the Mini-Store. Nice. :(

I'm also happy to see that they bought the CoverFlow technology rather than stealing the features. :)

iTunes 7 has everything I was hoping it'd have! Best release of iTunes yet, I think. And the new icon is to die for -- about as nice as the original. :)
 
was anyone able to get the search feature on their 5th gen ipods ? or where able to get the new games playable ? it didn't work for me.. nor was i able to get the search feature .. this is what i get when i connect my ipod

Oh wow the iPod sync feature is great, I've wanted to be able to not have it load everything. This is maybe the best feature ever for iTunes.

How is apple service different from Amazon?. Other than a pretty interface (last time i checked, pretty interfaces did not save me money or help pay the bills).. what's different?. Is the pricing different?.. are the restrictions different?.. why shouldn't I buy from amazon.. what happened to "when apple comes out with their service, they will kill amazon"??

it doesn't look right to me. The icon seems HUGE, it seems like the used every single pixel available to them while other icons were allowed to breathe.

the search function seems to only be for the new ipods.

games work, though.. you just have to go to Ipod Games in the source list (if it's not in the source list, you need to enable it in Preferences), double click a game, enter your Apple ID and password.. it'll authorize, and then be able to sync to the ipod.
 
I don't get why everyone is complaining about the icon in the dock, all they changed was the color of the eighth note.:rolleyes: It wasn't that big a deal.

So how do you work this Album Artist tag?

What I would expect is to put the artists (separated by comas or something) in that tag, and then that song will show up under all those listed artists.

The way it is now doesn't make any difference in organization/categorization of the archive.

How do you guys use it?
 
Gapless playback

I'm thrilled with the new gapless playback feature.
It's so nice to have all my Grateful Dead shows play seemlessly!
Kinda funny -- even before I had tried the new iTunes, I ordered the 8 gig Nano with the inscription:

the music
never stops

now it's truer than ever.

It works for soundtracks or compilations, It is used to organize the albums better. Its very handy.
 
Nice to see coverflow in there although I do agree that it looked better before.

And is it just me or is it slower?

Nope it's not there. Guess it's off to eBay for us. We'll Have to sell our 60GB models for $299 and pay Apple another $50 for the 80GB model with proper search capability. :(
