TV Show genius is pretty cool, but the question is will it work with user added content like music or only iTunes store purchased videos?

import as itunes plus ... mmh this sentence makes me suspicious... does it mean that imported tracks will get a watermark "just like the itunes plus" files mmh we will see?

Good to see autofill coming to all ipods at last! I don't think most don't know about smart playlists, no doubt some frustration there.

And will this finally add the feature that I can copy --any-- mp3 file (read: a file that I have not bought from the iTunes store) from --my-- iPod to --any-- of --my-- computers? Something tells me that iTunes will remain the same pile of DRM dung as before.

Speed improvements - hallelujah! iTunes is a friggen boulder that weighs my computer's performance down to unusable. I only open iTunes when I absolutely have to, and close it immediately after that necessary task has completed. iTunes is a slow, resource hungry, hunk of junk. Hopefully these speed improvements are very significant.

This is a good question. I havent used music genius much so far, but I think it picks up all music on the machine, so hopefully this extends to vid as well.

Love the idea of 'no-thinking' TV watching. Sometimes, after a long day, that's exactly what you want. One or two clicks and relax with whatever sensible (or not) vid pops up!

I have a 245GB iTunes library. Mostly it is CDs ripped to Apple Losses. about 12,000 tracks. iTunes is not slow at all on my 24" iMac. The library lives on a 1TB Segate disk connected via FW800. I can scroll through the entire library about as fast as I can move the mouse. searches for a composer or band have zero lag time. hard to see how it could be faster.

Just out of curiosity, does anyone have more tracks than this in an iTunes library? Personally, I'm just interested in music tracks.

Are we going to have to disable genre browsing through the terminal again?

-What I want them to speed up is initial startup of video playback and making tag changes. When you've got a lot of smart playlists those tag changes can really bog things down. Don't get me started on the video startup crap...

You can already do that. Hell, I do it about ten times a day. Just drag the song out of iTunes to your desktop, bam you have an mp3 file you can email to anyone or put anywhere. Or do you mean plug your iPod into another computer and drag songs off of there?

Odd thing, to say "Coming Soon". Apple doesn't like doing that. They prefer to spring things on the public when they're ready, or at least ready to download.

I have about 15,000 tracks (only 50 GB) and it runs pretty good on my iMac 24" 2.8 GHz. Cover Flow can bog it down since I have hi-res artwork. But normal lists are speedy as can be and searching is instant. But I have all kinds of syncing issues with my Touch that make it crash and require a restore every month or so, so I'm hoping that these "syncing speed" improvements have some sort of impact.

I've got about 3 or 4 times that, not including hundreds of movies/videos. Library startup just isn't that bad. It's smart playlists and tag changes that kill it.

It'll work with user content, but you'll have to make sure it is tagged properly (TV Show/Episode Name) to get it to work properly I guess.

Just a small thing I noticed...

Looks like Party Shuffle is now called iTunes DJ. I wonder if the functionality has changed any; probably not.

grrr. i was really hoping they would introduce hd-aac it's such a pain managing two libraries - one for my phone and one for listening on my home equipment.

About the only feature I want out of iTunes is better management over multiple hard drives.

I like letting iTunes control my file location because it's not in some crazy database.itunes package like iPhoto but I would like to have a little control like all my music on my local HDD and all my videos on my external HDD.

You're incorrect about this. iPhoto does not keep your photos in a single database package file, the photos live individually in normal hierarchical finder folders just like every other regular files on your disk.

How about a new interface and better way to view all of you play list, The right side of itunes needs some organization.
