iTunes 8: HD TV Shows, Grid View, Genius Playlists, NBC

I can't test just yet, but does the hidden pref to at least direct it to your library, rather than the store (though I prefer NO arrows personally), still work?

Can anyone with the new HD downloads see if they have subtitles and/or closed captioning? The lack of subtitles has kept me from ever purchasing any video content. I was hoping when they said "accessibility" that it would mean more CC content.

FINALLY!!!!

I'm not liking the missing options of turning off iTunes Store links and turning off Genre in the Browser. I hope the hack that changes iTunes Store links to iTunes Library links still works.

Not that I'm aware of... I've got the blank 'track no.' column clicked/highlighted next to the artwork column and the track title column... However it seems to be listing the tracks in Artist A-Z order. The only way to get my originally selected track to bounce to the top is to click the blank 'track no.' tab (as described above) twice. Whatever I've downloaded it's certainly ridden with bugs. I'm just downloading it again (strangely it has a different file size from what I recall - I deleted the original dmg so I can't be sure) to see if that makes any difference.
 
Can't Sync ATV and iTunes 8. Port Error......

I can't get my ATV to sync with iTunes so I CAN watch the new TV shows on HD. I keep getting an error reading, "The apple TV is not responding. Check that any firewall software running on this computer has been set to allow communication on port 3689". Huh? How do I do that? It's always "just worked".

Don't give that tool any props. He can't sell his company and is bored with it, so he's using Apple rumors to try to make a brand for himself.

Kevin's a total tool, IMHO.

Yh I got that it was a surprise when I D/Led Monk Season 7 HD to get a second SD version, I now think the $2.99 is well worth it.

Well, I must say I'm a big fan of the Genius playlist feature, I can see that being something that I use an awful lot.

The Ipod Touch is great as well.

D/L the free BSG episode in HD to try it out.

What doesn't make sense to me is that we pay the same $2.99 for a full episode of say Lost as we do The Office even though one is much longer than the other...hmmmm, damn you Apple!
 
hey guys, for some reason when I try to purchase an HD show (LOST, House) it automatically purchases the SD version instead. Is this happening to any of you? This is really annoying, I'm on hold with Apple right now trying to get the charges refunded.
 
Just checked under Preferences and the Importing option has disappeared, there's no way to change audio format, bitrate etc... Is anyone else experiencing these bizarre obscurities?
 
as to genius sidebar .... well, it's not bad, but full integration with last.fm would be better IMO
 
Had me at "HD TV Shows", lost me at "$2.99". Sorry, Steve.

I think they'd sell a ton more at $1.49 SD / $1.99 HD, but then I'm not a marketing genius, I just know what I will and will not pay for things.

WTF Apple, I am so sick of this company telling me what I can and cannot do on my computer, taking features away is the last straw.

It seems like it could be useful however it's useless if you have music NOT available on the itunes store!

Try generating a genius playlist on any AC/DC or Beatles song! :mad:

yeah, thats strange .... you simply have to use "AAC version" (if you right-click on any song, it does offer just that)

It gets even more strange... If I start up a Genius playlist the order is ordered by Artist A-Z (even though the blank 'track no.' tab is selected) But if I then quit iTunes and re-open iTunes the Genius playlist is in the right order with the original track selected at the top. Pfffff.

I can't check it right now but I hope this is a joke.....wow.....I can't believe they took that out, so now I have to download some 3rd party app just to convert files into formats I want? I am an audio engineer and I have used itunes for years converting files to different formats, what a sad day
