This is getting super frustrating lately:
First The Remote App doesn't work on iTunes ( couldn't figure that out...)

and now this!!

I've been making Ringtones through iTunes for almost 2 years now...
But lately my iTunes has really been acting up, and I'm not sure if it has anythin to do with updating it to the latest 9.1 version.

I cannot get the "Convert to AAC..." option on a right click no matter what I do...

itunesbs1.jpg

I went to Edit>Preferences>Import Setting and did make sure it's on "AAC Encoder" Still nothing...

Can someone please help!!

The option to convert to an AAC file format is still available by accessing advanced from the iTunes menu.

Advanced --> Create AAC Version

The ability to convert to AAC by right clicking seems to have been eliminated.

:) hey thanks so much, you have no idea how much headache you just lifted off my head...I was getting way too worked up and frustrated about this, thanks for pointing it out!

I cannot believe this crap, I hate it when iTuens makes a weird (subtle) change and doesn't send you an email or pop up window telling what's changed and what's what now, (or maybe they do I just don't pay attention)

ringtone in itunes 9

I tried doing it the old way by going to get info and then creating start and stop times and then but you can not create acc version the old way you need to go to advance at the top and then create an acc version all the other steps are the same.

iTunes makes the file too long

When I set the parameters for the part of the song I want to be my ringtone, then convert it to AAC Version, iTunes automatically makes it some length I don't want it to be. Then, when I try to turn it into and .m4r it doesn't load into iTunes/sync onto my iPhone. Fix?

how to rename m4a?

guys, i was following the steps to create a ringtone. but after putting a new file on my desktop, i can't figure out how to rename m4a into m4r. please advise. thanx

Right click, Rename?

I've tried, but it didn't work. the file is on my desktop and when I right click only the name of the file changes color and so I can change only the name, but not the type of the file. I forgot to say that I use PC, Vista (64 bit). So anyone, please help me out with this.

Sounds like you have Windows set to hide file extensions.

Look towards the bottom of this web page:

Does it show up in iTunes on your PC, under Ringtones?

Make sure you have Ringtones set to sync.

On your iPhone, go to Settings -> Sounds and you should see custom ringtones. Also, in the Contacts app, you should be able to specify custom ringtones for individual callers.

Yes, it showed up in my PC, in iTune's Ringtones folder. Then it started the process of sync. Now it says
iPhone sync is complete. OK to disconnect.
But it still doesn't show in my iPhone. I've checked Settings - Sounds - Ringtone. but the file is not there. Did i miss anything?

You might have a bad ringtone file. Is it longer than 30 seconds?

Try using a known, valid ringtone file. Email me at info at notiesoftware.com and I can email you one.

Other possibility is that you have iTunes set to manually sync music, movies, etc. That setting applies to ringtones too. In that case, drag the ringtone file to the tiny icon of the iPhone, in the left sidebar of iTunes.

Great, I got it. I just drag the file from my desktop directly to the the phone image under the Devices in the iTunes. That's great.
Thanx alot.

he is right, create aac is not shown when you right click you must...

he is right, create aac is not shown when you right click you select the start and stop times like normal, make sure the aac is selected in import settings under edit>prefrences>general>import settings, and when youve done this select the song then look under advanced and you will see create AAC version.
