You're disqualified for using this worthless filler post. You should be getting your disqualification email in the mail in the next day or so.

my counter has been stuck at 99,927,264 for ilke 10 minutes..anyone else?
When I go to Apple's page, it's showing "99,000,000+" now. Probably too many people hitting their page over and over.

Or 99 chances...

95,188,296 at 3:00 EST!

I appreciate the link to an album with so many tracks (thus increasing chances to win! :)), but does anyone know of an album with a lot of songs that's a little more...um...tasteful? I don't know if I (or Apple) would like my name to be associated with this when the 100 millionth song gets covered in the press.

you know, for getting a free 17" powerbook, etc, I really don't CARE what the song is....but I'll throw another one in there, and give them a change to say, yeah, it was THAT one that put us over the mark...

sorry, im using the 100mil counter up in the menubar.. and i keep refreshing it, and its sayin "offline"... i dunno why

I just hope their servers are ready for an assault the likes of which they've never seen here sometime within the next hour. With so many people holding off until it gets within a few thousand of the 100 million goal, they're going to get hit with a staggering number of purchases within a 5-10 minute window here really soon.

well, that last 50k took roughly an hour - what's the bet on the next (and last) 50k? I'd say about 35-40 minutes. People know it's getting close. I can feel it in the air.....

Yeah, but why would anyone buy a song right now? Seems like there may be a lull as people try to "time" their purchases. Unless of course people get a kick out of watching a counter!

According to the Psych counter, the 100mil mark has already been reached, but Apple's site says 99,282,342 as of 6:20 PM Pacific.

[edit]Well I guess the Psych counter glitched...it's back to under 100mil.[/edit]

I fail to see how that could have happened, maybe you hallucinated? (it's a psychedelic counter after all :) ) Anyway maybe it really happened, but the routine that draws the numbers only drew 8 of them until today. I just updated it so it will handle 9 numbers so the counter would still work after it crosses the 100 millionth mark.

I programmed it so it does something different after 100 millions but don't expect much ;) I'm not even sure what will happen to the externalcounter.js file when the goal is reached. (only about 57,000 to go at 0:42 EST)

Have fun :)

I wonder if there will be anything really cool on Apple's page once it hits 100mil. It'd be neat if at 100mil, they announced the new 60gb, color, WiFi iPods ;)

Okay, this might be a dumb question, and maybe it's already been answered. But: The official rules say:
a free alternative means of sending an email to Apple at itunes100@apple.com via the iTunes “Tell a Friend” feature (a song download or Tell a Friend email will be deemed an “Entry(ies”). The “Tell a Friend” feature can be easily accessed at iTunes by selecting a song, and clicking the “Tell a Friend” link that is displayed for that song. One Entry will be automatically submitted for each song downloaded or Tell a Friend email sent.
The only "Tell a friend" features I see are for albums or artists. Is that what they're talking about, or is there a way to "tell a friend" for individual songs that I'm not seeing?

Hmm...wouldn't it be interesting if the 100,000,000th song is "Walkie Talkie Man" by Steriogram, the song of the new iPod ad?

yeah, but you know what's gonna be REALLY funny? The most bought album tomorrow will be that 'Pull My Finger' CD...oh, apple's gonna love us for that one! lol

99,957,367!

I've been having fun looking at the changing album covers as well, seeing how many albums I recognize, have, enjoy, etc. Just noticed "Miles Davis - Kind of Blue" being shown - possibly the greatest jazz recording ever made...
