$250 to upgrade mine :( I don't feel I should have to pay .30 per song to upgrade when the iTunes Plus songs are .99 -- the same that I originally paid for the DRM'd stuff. I guess the .30 is the bandwidth overhead fee.

Do they really think someone is going to pay $150 (like me) to upgrade the ENTIRE library? I don't think so. I'm waiting until it's nearly free or I don't care.

$26.10 for 116 total songs (36 songs + 5 albums). Maybe, but that's $26 spent with little noticeable gain, and I'm a cheapskate, so we'll have to wait and see.

I mean, I could buy 26 new songs that I don't already own for that price!

I wish there was an option to just remove the DRM for free. I don't feel like paying twice for the songs I already own. Even if it is better quality.

My upgrade just finished. A few tracks did not replace the DRM version so now I have a bit of tidying to do.

Just noticed 40 new songs have now appeared while the upgrade was running.

I upgraded

Cost me approx $10. Most of my music I ripped myself. The only reason I use the store is for videos. I'm sure there are ways to get those for free, but I actually buy cds (yes)... I do agree with the folks that say that there should not be a "all or nothing" policy. That makes no sense.

if we upgrade, will itunes keep the old drm files and then put the songs in the playlists we already have them in, or do we have to do this manually?

i'm glad it's moving towards drm-free though. this is a huge announcement for the music industry.

Another album has appeared for me since this morning. It'll be interesting to check every few days and see what else is new.

Some of the music I bought a couple of years ago is no longer available for purchase and has not been offered on the upgrade page. Presumably these tracks will never be available DRM-free.

I think the songs will do a writeover if the file name hasn't changed.

What I want to know is what happens if you click "upgrade" but the song you want to upgrade is not in your library at present. I lost a few of the albums in my purchase history.. it lists 212 total songs, but 57 songs 11 albums underneath that and there are 57 songs on the song list.. but it wants to charge me $47.95 to upgrade.. when if it is only including the songs listed, it would be $17 and change..

If upgrading my library would help me recover my lost music, then yes, I would do it.. otherwise I'm not interested in a bulk upgrade.

Im trying to upgrade, but I got a message that I have to wait until I get an email. How long does this normally take? I want to set it before I go to bed as I have about 500 songs to download.

Thanks

It let me upgrade directly, no email involved. What country are you in?

Usa

I clicked upgrade and buy now and the whole thing. It said I needed to wait for an email.

i want to upgrade. would love to upgrade. but i cant in one big batch like this. that is my one complaint. it will be awhile before i am willing to spend this much at once.

unless there is a way to get around the batch upgrade and do them individually?

And I thought my $45 iTunes Upgrade Bill was bad....

But then again, I'm not really upset. I've been WANTING many of my beloved albums to be converted into iTunes Plus for a long time.

The only bad thing is that... several of my iTunes (non-plus) albums and tracks are absolute disappointing crap, and some of them I even deleted from my Library. But Apple still is forcing me to pay to upgrade those albums/tracks that I no longer listen to, and no longer want. Ugh.

Apple should have allowed us a way to "Pick & Choose" which albums and tracks we wanted to Upgrade, and which ones we wanted to simply leave behind.

I am still debating. On one hand it'd be nice to rid myself of the DRM and get a better bit rate but on the other it really chaps my ass to have to pay extra to un-DRM some songs that I got as recently as last week as I received a gift card for Christmas. If I waited a week, the songs still costs 99cents, just now no DRM. I know bandwidth isn't free, but my ass is kind of chapped over this. But hey we get new iLife!!!:p

For some reason some of the albums I have purchased on iTunes are not showing up in the upgrade list. The White Stripes to be exact. Any idea why this is or how to fix it so I can upgrade them to iTunes Plus? Thanks.. :D
