The iWatch will be released this year, PERIOD.

If Apple does not release the iWatch this year AAPL will plunge and it will be a bloodbath, Tim knows it, every serious shareholder knows it, and they have been hyping this whole thing. There is not the slightest doubt about this 2014 release.

This could be a very calculated movement for creating both desire and expectation by selling extremely few units first, while the secret keeps secret until the D day too.

Ever hear of iPhone 6? New iPads?

iWatch or not, apple has nothing to worry about.

This is a rumours site, not news site. You cannot expect a rumours site post an accurate news, so everything beside confirmed stuffs are speculations. If you aren't happy or getting tired of some analysis or whatever, then don't even bother to read.

Exactly my point; I don't come here expecting hard facts, so it's odd when people post comments denigrating Apple before anything has actually happened.

I still don't get the rational of laughing at analysts when you visiting an rumours site. If this is a news site like New York Times, then you have the point, but this is god damn rumours site.

Nobody is laughing. Also, it's refreshing to see you swear, but as I've said before, we really aren't expecting solid facts. We're simply appraising rumors as what they are—rumors.

And no his point is just reminding the fact we are in a rumours site and Everything is god damn rumours. If you want accurate information, then get off from this site.

Does telling people what to do online often work, or are you just saying things to see what sticks? :p

i will say it again ... we will know on July 22 during the conference call if a new product category is coming for next quarter. they will need to account for additional revenue in their guidance.

This is all b.s. production already started <insert month where we were told it would or has started>.

I'll believe it exists when I see it. Apple wouldn't be hiring designers and engineers for this (recently) if it was nearly production ready by now.

To be fair to the guy, he's usually right -- and probably the most reliable Apple analyst around at the moment. It's also very possible that earlier this year Apple was planning to start manufacturing in July and a few months later decided that what they had isn't quite good enough and needed to cook a little longer (edit: no pun intended... seriously).

This is the first major new category of product from Apple since the iPad, and you only get one chance to make a first impression. They can't just release a healthband or notification pusher for your wrist; they need to bring something to the table that blows Android Wear away.

If they release something that's merely "okay" rather than category-defining, we'll have a good 12-18 months of "Apple is doomed" stories from the media.

I think we will get a lot of apple is doomed stories either way

Don't use this picture, please

This "concept" is incredibly ugly. I would never buy something so incredibly hidious.

He's not usually right unless he's speaking in vagaries. Within days of the iPhone 5S announcement last year, weeks into the device's production run, he was reporting that it would have a convex home button.

This dude knows almost nothing that the rest of us don't know. He gets some things right that most of us could guess, and the media reports on it like the dude is a prophet.

Cnet has the same story on its app. Not sure how reliable they are. I was getting excited about this.So I don't get it.Will it still be announced in October and then be available to buy in Mid-Late November? As long as they will announce it I'll be somewhat happy.

Has it changed again.... Didn't this go from from "introduce it at an October event" to "might" ?

How can you go from centenary to "we'll never get there" ?

+1

I already have a nice watch, and i don't need another one.

Looking at the other fitness bands they all do bits and pieces, but none do it well. I want apple to come into this market and kill it, have ios notifications and a decent sleep cycle monitor/vibrate alarm.

+2

I don't think any of the concept designs shows so far is any close to what Apple may do with this iWatch (doubt that name too)
It reminds me the click wheal iPhone concepts before iPhone and the iSlate ones before iPad.

While the source is reputable it sounds early
For release date predictions. Keep in mind that alot of people will want to see the iWatch and try it before they buy it

why don't they just change their name to The iCompany and be done with it?

and when they eventually make a robot will it be called...

I really hope this is wrong. I really want the iWatch to launch as soon as possible. and I will buy it on day 1.

I currently own a samsung gear live, its kind of cool, as in it's a new category. but the implementation of it is pretty bad. Functionality is quite limited. I plan to return the watch sometime next week. And can for sure see the iWatch being far more capable and desirable

I'm not a financial analyst, an insider, a shareholder.

I'm merely an Apple customer, but I would be absolutely shell shocked if they didn't release this in time for Christmas/Holiday Season (I'm in the UK).

That period must be financially crucial for every company out there, as it's littered with impulse buyers, that may take a little more time shopping say in April or may for a birthday present.

Like I say, I have no relevant "insider" knowledge, I just can't see any company missing the biggest sales window of the year.

Meh. Announced in October and shipping in early 2015 wouldn't be too bad. Not everything needs to be released for the 'holiday quarter'.

I am assuming that Apple is working on an iWatch

If iWatch mass production start in November, that is far too late for Christmas sales, so we can assume that it will go on sale Q1 '15 (around the time Apple used to go announcements at Macworld)

Do people assume that Apple will preview the iWatch late this year when they announce the iPhone6?
This would make sense, mass production after announcement once leaked images are no longer a problem.

What about 3ed party app development and/or integration day one? Google announced Android Wear before the recent hardware releases at I/O. I had thought that Apple may have hinted at iWatch APIs at WWDC, but if they had, even in NDAed sessions, we would have hear some rumours by now. iWatch development post WWDC'15? that would being giving Android Wear more that a 12 month head start.
