A top-end iWatch at several thousands of dollars? No chance in hell.

Yeah, I don't see that happening, unless it's the same "computer" with a luxurious chassis and band.

Imagine a solid gold iWatch. It's not for everyone, but there's people who can afford it and buy it. For the rest if us, we will be happy with the same iWatch with the humble exterior pieces.

Your moronic comment is offensive. "Ridiculous fan": do you call ridiculous the people who have some money and want to spend it? What problem do you have with people who can afford either an expensive piece of jewlery or an expensive gadget? Why do you think Apple hired the ex CEO of Burberry's and one of the top YSL executives a couple years back? To get their expertise on how to sell at the local WalMart or Costco?

Just to amuse you:

2013 Mac Pro 2xd700, 1 Tb SSD, 32 Gb Ram + Promise R6 TB2 + plenty of other "ridiculously expensive Apple gadgets"t that I will not list because it would be class warfare against you...

Cannot believe it!

Your comment made me laugh because it's moronic. It's not about whether someone can afford it. It's about how stupid the idea is. The worst part of your comment is your classification of a Mac Pro as... your words, not mine... "an Apple gadget". iPods, iPhones, iPads are gadgets, you know, things sold in Walmart and Costco. Mac Pro is not in that category.

Just admit it. It's a stupid idea.

Everyone here understands Apple makes mass market consumer tech. Not what you're suggesting. Apple is not Vertu. Who in there right mind would want something like that? Key words: right mind.

I wonder if Renzatic has been working under cover trying to get the details about this? I'm thinking Galaxy Gear 3 coming before the holiday season this year. :D:D:D

There's definitely a significant market for a high-end luxury iWatch from Apple. For those of us consumers sick of seeing everyone carrying around the same phones and tablets as us, an iWatch that costs thousands of dollars could be very tempting. Let's wait and see before dismissing this idea entirely.

Most adults are secure enough not to care what others have. IMO you have to have pretty weak self esteem to gain prestige from a phone, tablet, or an iWatch. There is no significant market for a high end iWatch that will be obsoleted in 9 months when the new one comes out. Only the most die hard fa... not gonna use that word. This would only appeal to a certain demographic with an unrealistic obsession with all things :apple:.

Check his post history.

I still think the best design would be _no_ design.

Just build an edge-to-edge display with internals into a chassis that’s designed to lock into a case. Then the case (i.e., body + bracelet/strap) determines the styling, opens up Apple for revenue from new body/strap designs, and gives them licensing dollars so 3rd parties can build “official” products.

Then high[er] end luxury brands could offer casees, you could get different styles, colors - maybe there’s an online storefront for various LED faces for the different case manufacturers (a buck or so for a download, or a free download code with the purchase of an actual case).

That would also allow less traditional watch cases like pocket-watch-ish designs, special upper arm bands for running, etc.

Could even be magnetic, maybe with a conductive “pass through” for charging, potentially even supplemental batteries in the bands, or larger bodies.

Several thousands for the iWatch. Total boloney bullhawkey hogwash shenanigans.

Typical

Leave it to Apple to price a damn watch for that much. If I'm spending that much on a time piece I'm buying a TAG Heuer or Omega.

Renzatic! Ugghh. That guy. You know he's try to destroy Apple from the inside. He's the reason behind the Jony Ive/Greg Christie beef. Rumor has it he put a whoopie cushion in Jony's chair during a meeting. Ive went ballistic and asked who did it. Renzatic pointed straight at Christie then promptly walked out of the room giggling. Worst of all he spilled Pepperoni Hot Pocket juice on the floor. Dammit, that's how we get ants.;):D

Scruff should I mention that we're just kidding? You know how people can get. Besides, Renzatic didn't spill his Hot Pocket. I just wanted to work in the ants joke from Archer.

At first I was like - no way... But after reading all these comments, it looks so much like 9/01, 01/07, and 03/10 I'm beginning to think this might be closer to the truth. Anyway, doesn't this Kuo guy have a pretty dismal track record? Can't remember. Can't wait to see the unveiling. I just hope they get it right and that they haven't rushed it, of course they usually do. Sure will be interesting. I'd almost like to see them put it off another year just out of spite to all these analysts and fanboys (myself included:confused:)

I love how something that only exists in rumors doesn't appeal to you.

Yeah. I'd bet most of the complainers here may end up buying it when it comes out and it's not like the rumors portrait it.

And we shouldnt discard the possibility that some models are endorsed or contain a chassis and band made by a name brand watch.

Actually most adults actually do care about social status. That is why they brush their teeth and generally dress up in nice clothes instead of going out like slobs, so they don't have the same social status as a homeless person.

Social status is going to be conveyed one way or another by the public. It might be conveyed by a set of people (kids, people working out at the gym) by an iWatch, but another set of people with Movados or Tag Heurs is going to look down on that, while another set of people with Rolexes or Patek Phillipes or Richard Mille Tourbillons is going to look down on even that.

Which social status do you want to have? Would you like to have a social status and be treated like a homeless person?

If not, then you care about social status.

Everybody's talking about the supposed price... what stood out to me is the claim of one day battery life.

The price sure, but I think if anything battery life for a wearable device should be more than that. Plus, the word "day" in this sense could mean a lot of things...: the amount of time that the sun is out, how long you are at work, or even 24 hours. If the battery will last 24 hours, then that's awesome. I just wonder what the I/O is going to be for real with this and if Apple is going to use something like a micro-lightning cable.

Several thousand US dollars……for a watch with "a days" battery life??!

I think :apple: has skipped smoking something and straight to crack.

Worst Prediction Ever?

Wow, its impressive to come up with something that may be the worst prediction ever, but this may be it. If this is what they are really planning, they need to file 13 it and go back to the drawing board. It would be silly for Apple to try and sell an iWatch that cost more then a MacPro, and has less power then the original iPhone. Plus where would they sell them? Walmart, Target, Best Buy aren't going to stock a bunch of 3K iWatches. Even the Apple Store isnt really geared towards selling $3000 watches, they dont have glass cabinets to show people the iWatch collection, People are going to Kay, Tiffany and Jarrads to see the iWatch? I just don't see it. A $300 watch, sure, maybe even a $500 watch, but when you start to hit Several Thousand dollars, then the iWatch isnt going to sell a bunch and thats the whole plan.

That sounds like something he'd do. :D
I usually issue a disclaimer or put plenty of grinning smiley's in just to be safe. :D:D I wonder how much longer till Renzy is back?

Oh sweet Jeebus. That cannot be real. I freaking refuse to believe it's real.

Honestly, I'm surprised he gets away with it. You know what it would be called if someone posted negative about Apple in the same manner.

And I'll stick with Casio and Timex. Even a low-cost plastic iWatch won't appeal to my wallet.

I'll stick with my Casio Oceanus, titanium, Atomic, Solar & Worldtime. That was $600AU and i had to think about that for a while. $1000/Thousands of $ for an iwatch?! No thank you.

Not that I think I'll get on but it gets more and more interesting every rumor. Hopefully they will announce opening it up to developers soon.

No. I consider myself a well adjusted adult who doesn't require the approval of strangers for validation. Why would I care what a complete stranger thought about me? People I care about. Their opinion of me matters, but not superficially. Am I a good husband and father? Am I a good moral person? Have I affected those around me for the better? That stuff is important. Am I a saint? Hell no. Do I like nice stuff? Yup. But not because of some need of approval from the outside.

FWIW the reason I brush my teeth? My wife says I have to do it or no kisses. Can't live without those.;)

Does anyone read the article?
"Kuo suggests Apple will release the iWatch at multiple price points"
it not starting at several thousand dollars- the base model will prob be couple hundred. And the original article said "most expensive version costing upwards of $1,000" You know what else has multiple price points with the most expensive option costing close to a thousand dollars? The iPad http://d.pr/i/E9Qv and iPhone.

As for flexible display and sapphire cover- just because the display is flexible doesn't mean the watch is- the display by itself is flexible but installed on a curved rigid frame with sapphire cover.

1 day battery life is fine if it wirelessly charges on your wrist while you sleep.
