Also, why the HELL does it come up with an OPEN FILE dialog every time I open Pages?? Why doesn't it open a blank document straight away? If I wanted to open an old file, I would open it from the damn Finder!

Maybe that's a clue. Finder is going away in OSX, too. Good to know.

...This needs a ground-up rewrite.

This IS the ground-up rewrite. That's why it's missing everything that '09 had. This is Apple porting the iOS version to Mac OS X and TRASHING the Mac OS X codebase for Pages (and the other apps).

----------

Some strong feelings here against Pages. I have pretty light document editing needs so I quite enjoy the simplicity of the iWork suite

It WAS simple before, except it had useful features for people who need more than a simple text editor.

iOS iWork updates are now showing up after rebooting my iOS device

They, apparently, updated themselves on my Air, which they are not supposed to do, but the update dates are Nov 21, 2013. ???

A minute later...wait, now they are gone from the list and just Podcast and Penultimate are there for today (I updated them a couple hours ago).

It just gets worse and worse. Apple needs to have a talk with Intel and get into this tick-tock thing that they are using.

Hoping for superscript & subscript.

Surely this wasn't removed?

Bananas.

I've generally found it a pain in the neck. I can't quite sort out the right layout options to get my tables looking sensible. It will have the top half of the line one one page and then the bottom half on the page below. How is that helpful?

Has anyone made a list of features removed from the old version, and how many (if any) are back with these updates?

There are lists, yes. On the Apple forums is the best place to find the lists. They're extensive.

If they updated themselves then that's because you have auto updated on. I too have it on but the update never showed up or showed under the update history but mines date says today though

New iWork Update Shows Incorrect Download Date

When downloading the latest iWork update from the Mac Apps store, the download reappears with an earlier build date November 21, 2013 but still shows the same build version 3.0.1. I have attached a screen shot showing this.

That's just it...I have ALL of that stuff turned off. But then a minute later they just disappeared from the list. Now I see the OSX versions are showing up with the Nov 21 date too. Wow.

Pages 5.1 and Number 3.1 are showing up now.

There's also a Pre-Release 10.9.2 update.

Edit: Covered here.

Seriously? That's all? This sucks. Or rather, CONTINUES TO SUCK.

i'm not touching the new Pages until it is equal to Pages '09. Which pretty much seems like never. i can't even have them both installed without being forced to open documents in the new inferior version (yes, the file association feature is broken with these apps installed together).

Way to go, take a legitimate concern (the 'Open With' association, aka, opening via double-click, cannot differentiate between two different versions of Pages installed) and present it in a way that makes it sound as if one couldn't open a document in the old version at all when both versions are installed. Apple hurt you, now you want to hurt Apple back. And if you can hurt Apple more by insinuating non-existent Apple faults, so be it. The end justifies the means.

Dragging a file onto the Dock icon of the old Pages still works fine as, as does the Open dialogue box or the Open Recent. And if this bothered me enough because I would rarely use the new version, I would just zip the new version and only unzip it when needed.

It's probably just invalid caches or something like that. Pages/Numbers 6.1 were not yet, so it kept showing the older version.

Now if you check it, it should start showing 6.1 as it is for me.

A running commentary...

I rebooted (all the way off, all the way on) my Air and now the three progs show up as Available Updates, the dates are Nov 21, but the buttons only say Open, instead of Update.

Guys, just wait 15-30 minutes. Pages 6.1/Numbers 6.1 are out but it's not available yet for everybody. Instead it shows the previous version at the moment.

Oh... That seems to be wired

I really enjoy the new Pages! This could be because it didn't take anything out that I needed or used before.

I would imagine if there was a feature I needed and it was gone I would be pretty ticked off though.

Okay so after checking the version of the update. On my iMac i got the correct version for Pages 6.1, Numbers 3.1 & Keynote 6.1 but on my iOS device it's still giving me version 2.0.1 instead of 2.1 for iWork

What are you using now if I may ask?

I have an iMac G4 with OS X Tiger,
Windows 8 gaming rig,
Windows 8 acer laptop,
RS/6000 with AIX 4,
DOS 6 ThinkPad,
Some e-machines thing I have running Lububtu,
Sun blade running Solaris 4
Amongst others. I try to use a wide range of stuff.

I was in the middle of downloading and installing the iWork updates from the Mac App Store when all of a sudden, all the iWork updates disappeared from the list of available updates as they were downloading or installing. I closed the MAS, went back in, and now it says no updates are available. Strange. . .
