I was in the middle of downloading and installing the iWork updates from the Mac App Store when all of a sudden, all the iWork updates disappeared from the list of available updates as they were downloading or installing. I closed the MAS, went back in, and now it says no updates are available. Strange. . .

Me too. Pulled perhaps?

This feature was never removed and with Pages 6.0.1, released in November, the toolbar items for it were re-added.

I dont have newest iOS pages yet, but you never could write super- and subscript using iOS version of iWork  . I hope it's finally there, but I if it's not, I hope it'll come soon.

If (I repeat If) it works well I think it could be an awesome product. But personally my experience is that documents are not being well synced across devices. What I also would love to have added is that you can set up more than 1 iCloud account per device (I for example have one for private and business).

And most of all, my Nr 1 request... Please build in a simple 'Photostream' button on the iCloud homepage that allows me to go through my images/ videos that are in the cloud and do all kind of stuff like sharing etc.

And still no simple search feature in pages..

How am I supposed to locate the document i need fast inside all those folders during a meeting?

How hard could it be to offer a search feature? Many free apps have it.

Just installed the Pages, Keynote and iMovie updates. Are these incremental updates? Because it only took a few seconds for it to finish, and I have automatic download for updates off, so that's not it. Weird, cause with an iTunes update it downloads the whole app over again.

Also, after updating the Pages, Keynote and iMovies they don't show up in my 'last installed updates' section in the App store. Just checked the apps and they seem updated to me..

Anyone experienced the same?

You mean the app switcher that has been in windows since 1995?

No, I mean the way the app switcher is implemented in OS X. In Windows it's more if a window switcher than an app switcher. It gets too messy (takes time) to find the right window when a lot of apps and windows are open. Much better (quicker to navigate) in OS X in my opinion where you have one command to switch between apps and another to switch between windows of the frontmost application.

God I hope this is more like what it used to be

Can you move and rearrange multi page documents around in thumbnail view on mac version??? Not at home so can't try. Not noticing much difference on iPad.

Pleas apple sort pages out..

No, it's something I'm waiting for before I'll update. What they added for this version is the possibility to delete pages in the Thumbnail view.

I'm afraid if they can't really fix this version of iWork, I will have to go back to MS Office. It will be a sad day when the legacy iWork 09 no longer works.

Wrong it was a major re-write to a whole new code base that would make it easier to maintain compatibility across all platforms (OS X, iOS, and Cloud)

Plus the whole 64-bit thing.

Yeah, I'm sure they lurk these boards and keep tally of what everyone complains about being removed so they can add them later.

But seriously, they probably left out a number of features on purpose. You know, not in a "to 'wow' people when we re-add them" way, but in more of a housekeeping and pruning sort of way. I'm sure there are a number of features that weren't up to par compared to MS Office or even Apple's own standards that are better off being prioritized for later. Not to mention they could probably rework things internally to offer a better chance for Office compatibility, but maybe I'm just dreaming. :D

Actually, I think they left out a number of features because they wanted a format that was seamlessly compatible between desktop and iOS versions. And the iOS is somewhat limited (e.g. processor, memory, etc) compared to the desktop. I don't think that's necessarily the wrong decision to make. BUT, if the product no longer serves its users, that is a huge deal.

I have years of keynote presentations and pages files that now have all screwed up graphics and I am unable to copy those special graphics files (ChemDraw) out and edit them like I can with iWork 09. That is a deal breaker for me and one that I think should be an easy fix for Apple. They had the same problem a couple versions ago.

Fine. But Microsoft can manage to make their mobile, cloud and desktop versions of Office all compatible and 64bit without having to gut the thing of useful features. In fact, Office 2013 did all of the above and add features, long before Apple released the new iWork.

No Smart Quotes replacement !!

Smart Quotes replacement in Pages STILL isn't fixed.

I sent them Feedback twice (about two months ago), I called them, I filed tickets…what does it take to fix a menu that DOESN'T WORK?

Seriously, try this…

Create a document with some straight quotes.

Then: Edit, Substitutions, Show Substitutions, make sure Smart Quotes is checked, Replace All.

IT DOESN'T WORK!

(Please someone tell me I'm missing something here. Otherwise, we have a company that creates a menu in a major app that DOES NOTHING.)

Some strong feelings here against Pages. I have pretty light document editing needs so I quite enjoy the simplicity of the iWork suite

Some pretty strong feelings about how it was gutted in the new version. If you'd used it before the update, you'd probably feel the same way. They've still added back only a few of the many deleted features, so those strong feelings are likely to continue (as is, using the '09 version).

Yes, Apple had it right - once, back then

Aw, just bring back AppleWorks with its database and drawing programs.

Yes, it's 2014 and there's still no suitable dB program/replacement from Crapple (and no, FileMaker Pro is not the same thing).

Throw in the towel already and admit it, Apple -- you made a huge mistake killing off AW for iWonk.

Yes, Apple was the firstest with the mostest with AW, and might well be dominating the market today with this truly comprehensive integrated sweet suite. But somebody decided to drop the ball and hand leadership over to Microsoft. And what they're producing recently (for instance, the current "upgrade" to KN6, which is a thudding downgrade from KN5) would make it appear that that same secret Microsoft agent is still working for Apple - and Apple knows it, and doesn't care.

But only old farts like you and me remember what it once was, and know what it could have been. :(

...

Feedback and tickets are the right way to go, but those go into a queue and get prioritized among all of the other internal and external tickets as the team defines what goes in a given release. While I don't know how priorities are decided upon at Apple (other than they don't likely use MacRumors ;)), often it depends on the frequency (number of tickets) and severity of the issue (and severe to you may not be severe to apple), among many other things. Then that gets bounced up against new features they want to add too and any resource (people) constraints (adding people doesn't make it go faster).

In other words, might be a while.

There is little to no parity between their Cloud based and native applications. Not even close.

Keynote Remote is now within the iOS version of Keynote. There is now a small icon for this. Worked with my OS X version OK, but need to test it on an iPad. Would be nice if the laser pointer worked off of the remote also!

Looks like the Keynote app is being superseded.

Works as advertised on iPad too, but no option to use the pointer via the remote

i can't get remote to work. crashes keynote on my Mac every time I try to add an iOS device.

I disagree. I use it often. Then again I've never used the iWork website and since iWork.com seemed pretty good, I have no reason to doubt the compatibility is good. But I need my proofing features, my rulers, tracking, notes and all kinds of other stuff.

And thus, iWork is no longer for me.
