It's cat and mouse at this point. They could waste valuable time/effort on 6.1.3 just to have Apple slip out another point release to gum up the works.

Down side is it will be a year before iOS7 gets a JB release.

Surely you can restore without being connected to the Internet. I'm gonna try it at home today.

Surely Not possible.
Did you even think why we all talk for years about saving shsh blobs and how iTunes does a check with Apples servers to verify and allow the install to go on?
If that was the case we would never bother saving shsh blobs, we would just unplug the internet wire from the computer and restore to whatever firmware version we wanted.
Sadly its not that simple.

I also suggest waiting for iOS 7. My 3Gs was running a jailbroken 6.1.2 very nicely then it went all crazy and lost a lot of stuff. Restored it to iOS 6.1.3 and rejailbroke it with redsn0w with an untethered jailbreak. Gotta love the hardy old bootrom 3Gs.

I hear you on that.
Untethered Jailbreaks for life and verbose boot:)

Gotta love when peopel tell you it cant be done, as the actual devs tell everybody that it cant be done, and people that have been jailbreaking for years say that as well. But I guess you possess some magical powers on this topic

And Dont call me Shurley

That's like bragging about owning a 1990's BMW. The 3Gs in it's day was a great phone but now it's junk.

Strange how a "junk" phone that is jailbroken like mine can reboot a whole minute faster than a jailbroken iPhone 5 when running the same firmware and how it can remain more stable as more tweaks are installed. While it may be an old phone, it has a few things newer ones don't. Like verbose boot, forever untethered, and real boot logos. It even runs iOS 6.X much better than the iPod Touch 4 and on par with the iPhone 4. Even a 1990's BMW is loved by those that have them. I'd like to have one.

It's old yes and very, very slow but not slow compared to the 3G.
The 3G on the other hand is an artifact and will always be . Or should I say the 2G?

The only purpose I could see of owning a 3GS at this point other than if you were a collector of Apple products is if you were a developer and wanted to be able to test your tweak on different firmwares.

Yup. Gotta love it.

I miss verbose boot :-(

BTW can anyone explain to me why the 4 can't verbose boot? I understand why the 5 cant but isn't the exploit used on the 4 the same kind that was used on the 3G?

The exploit on the 4 must be preformed by a computer every time the phone boots. Because of this, the bootrom is not broken. Thus not allowing verbose boot unless it is a tethered boot. The old bootrom 3Gs has a fully exploitable bootrom which is broken during the first steps of the boot sequence. Because of this, verbose boot can be turned on. The bootrom exploit on the iPhone 3G is much different than the one used on the iPhone 3Gs and iPhone 4.

I reboot my phone maybe once a month. My jailbroken iPhone 5 crashes and goes into safe mode maybe once a week.

I wonder if 3GS users are going to be bragging about their phones once Apple stops signing the latest firmware for the 3GS

This, I can't remember the last time I went into Safe Mode without me making it do it.

My 4S went into safe mode all the time. If my 5 goes into safe mode I just get it out of safe mode and it takes 10 seconds, not a big deal and I have like 40 tweaks installed
